Just pay your workers a living wage, and do away with tipping.
It absolutely matters. It completely side steps the fact that Kamala increased taxes on tips almost 2 years ago to the day.
She cast the tie breaking vote that passed the "Inflation Reduction Act" - which expanded the IRS including a program increasing scrutiny on taxing tips.
Kamala simply copying Trump now.

@BizSuitStacy Yes they did! The government does spend $$$.
It took votes from both parties to pass.
Do you even look to see what the $$$! is being spent on?
So, tell me what cuts to spending you want.
Defense budget?
I am waiting.

@BizSuitStacy We always tip in cash when we tip. Hopefully they don’t make them put it into a pool to be divided.
Bhs123 · 36-40, F
First she was against it she herd trump saying it now she copying him because she has nothing else to say
Sojournersoul · M

Yes it matters. To be certain, Trump came up with. I find it hilarious that Harris in now latching on the idea. Not sure if she's trial ballooning it, or is actually on board. Funny she never mentioned it before. Also no tax on social security is a great idea. Trump is on that one as well. Will Harris follow?
Sojournersoul · M
@carpediem I know it matters. She learned plagiarism from the best.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Sojournersoul The best doesn't get caught... LOL

I got water front property in singleton to sell?

I am happy to hear this and I will probably never be one to get those tips. About time someone took up for the service workers. A tip is a gift and not wages.
JSul3 · 70-79
President Biden has stated that he would “absolutely” sign legislation to eliminate taxes on tipped wages if it made it to his desk, the White House said Monday, embracing a policy first proposed by former President Trump and echoed by Vice President Harris.
So, just like the immigration bill that would have become law, before Trump told his cult members in Congress to kill it, the question is: Will this bill be fast tracked and passed and signed by Biden, or will another opportunity to help the working class be torpedoed by the Orange Messiah, because we certainly would not want to do anything to help working Americans while a Democrat resides in the WH?

@Sojournersoul Supporting Ukraine and supporting Israel?
Yes both were in the bill.
Yes both were in the bill.
Sojournersoul · M
@JSul3 what does that have to do with border security? We support both very well as it is.
JSul3 · 70-79
@Sojournersoul I was referencing the immigration bill that Trump tanked. It had spending for both Ukraine and Israel included.
Regarding this "no tax on tips" I have read the Ted Cruz version and it appears to have a huge hole, that would allow, for example, hedge fund folks to claim that their 'commissions' were now 'tips' and give them an outrageous tax deduction.
While Harris has not laid out all of the plan, she specifically said 'no tax on tips for service workers.' That tells me that guardrails would be placed so that those outside the service industry could not take advantage.
Reality tells me nothing on this 'no tax on tips' will occur until the election. Even then, a bill must pass Congress before the president signs it into law.

Northwest · M
I know it was said on Jun 9th in another rally but does it rally matter who came up with the idea?
Only to those who think that politicking comes first. One former President comes to mind here. For instance the guy who said he can solve the healthcare issues, but will not share his plans, until after he gets elected (never released anything). Or the guy who demanded that a bi-partisan immigration not get passed, despite his claim that immigration is the #1 problem, because it might benefit his political rival.
But who's counting?
Sojournersoul · M
@Northwest just like copy Kamala

@Sojournersoul
Stoll no substance, and can't come up with anything original. Shocker, huh?

@Northwest who is stoll? I know I could have just copied and pasted. That is so original.
DealingWithTrouble · 41-45, M
I can't wait for CEOs to start declaring their $1 billion pay packages as "tips".
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
Or if Trump came up with it, why didn't he implement during his presidency? Maybe he didn't want to upset the memory of Uncle Ronny Reagan whose idea it was to tax tips in the first place.
Sojournersoul · M
@ineedadrink You must of had to many drinks. It was something he came up with this campaign talking to real people on the job.
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
@Sojournersoul Read what I posted before you hurl insults. I'm asking why didn't he go with this during his term in office, why wait until he's running again.
Sojournersoul · M
@ineedadrink I answered you. It is new this campaign.
I view this as another ploy (by both parties candidates) to coerce you into favoring 'them'.....
Congress controls the purse strings and to achieve this feat.... you would need them to amend the tax code ......
It is election season..... I fully expect to hear many more tall tales before it is over......

Ontheroad · M
I don't care who came up with it and who jumped on board with it... it's not a bad idea as long as the combined wages and tips don't exceed the federal gateway for paying taxes.
Colonelmustardseed · 36-40
I’m sure they’ll come up with reasons why they weren’t able to implement the idea. Or maybe they’ll just never address it again, and everyone will forget.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
It would be great if taxes on Social Security checks were eliminated.
BizSuitStacy · M
@Diotrephes that's one of Trump's proposed policies

They call Trump Hitler, so since Kumala agrees with his policies I guess that makes her Hitler also.
Sojournersoul · M
@ron122 She cant run on their polices, might as well run on Trump's.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
So, if you make $10,000 a year in tips you shouldn't pay taxes on that income, but if you get $10,000 in hourly wages you SHOULD pay taxes on it?? Screw that. Implement a fair tax code and everybody pays a fair share, regardless of the source of the income.
calicuz · 56-60, M
carpediem · 61-69, M
@ChipmunkErnie I have to laugh at this. Whatever happened to the "pay your fair share" argument? LOL. Ok, so if I take you at your word, what if the tax code changes and everyone making over (pick number here) pays a flat rate of 15%?
JSul3 · 70-79
@ChipmunkErnie Correct....suddenly 'commissions' will become 'tips.'
calicuz · 56-60, M
How bout this, who ever get's to the White House can pass this bill, and no matter which one it is, the American people WIN!!! 😌
