POV of a Quiet Trump Supporter

I'm a moderate who agrees with perspectives from both the left and the right. I have friends who are Liberal and friends who are Republican. If someone has a different perspective than me, I never get upset with them. I listen to their point of view and always respect their individual opinion. I've always enjoyed politics and listening to different podcasts and shows. When I was 18-19, I voted for Trump. I was open about it and got a lot of hate in the blue state I'm in. When the next election came around, I was exhausted from hearing everyone's opinion on Trump. I didn't like Biden as an option, and I was focused on surviving in my own life. So, I decided not to vote.

I'm 26 years old now. I understand Trump is far from perfect. I've heard all the same cons about him millions of times from people who spew the same brainwashed monologue. Most of these people aren't really in tune with politics or world events. I just agree with them to keep the peace since I never bring up the conversation of politics around them 99% of the time.

My real point of view: I like Trump. Most politicians and celebrities have narcissism. Guess what? I don't care. He is very patriotic and I genuinely believe he wants to see this country succeed. People who compare him to Hitler are sick in the head and have no concept of history. My grandfather was a German-Jewish Holocaust survivor, and my family still remarks that he would have loved Trump. I believe in liberty or death. I agree with people disagreeing with me. I love respectful debates. I love the First Amendment and the right to bear arms. I love seeing legal immigrants come here and change their lives for their families and themselves. I love seeing a mix of nationalities in my beautiful city. Seeing the assassination attempt on Trump and his response to stand up and address the crowd made me realize he is a real American, like the leaders I read about in history books. I love America. Yes, I support Trump even if he is far from perfect. He represents the grittiness and unwavering strength of this country. If you disagree, guess what? That's your right.

There's nothing "moderate" about supporting someone who's tried to override democracy with a coup d'etat, and who's campaigning on doubling down once elected.
SW-User
@Elessar He said:

and you are in for a rude awakening if you think the entire military will obey Biden's orders if he wants to lock down the country and bring about civil war many of us would not obey his orders refuse to fire on our own people and would fracture the forces this is why you people had to barricade the White House and start implementing German style politically reliable requirements for your new generation of boots on the ground because you know this want to talk about a rude awakening I've got one for you jackass

What a tool. And can't even write properly either lol
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User Yeah, people who slept through history lessons because "boring", that are about to learn about the infamous "ventennio" the practical way.

I feel bad for those Americans who sacrificed everything in the 40s just to end up having these dumb excuses of descendants, they must be turning in their grave so bad right now. And those contemporary Americans that have to deal with this nonsense against their will

Respecting everyone's opinion is an admirable ideology in a utopia or the world we knew 20 years ago. But in the current political landscape, that's like comforting an abuse victim while encouraging the abuser. You can say you respect people on the left all you like, but if you vote to withdraw the right of many of them to even exist, the words of respect are empty.

SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@MrSmooTh Honestly if you hear your own words, there's every reason to believe that people would persecute LGBT people if they felt like it. Gender and biological sex is not the same thing, for the fact that others can't understand simple biology makes it hard to believe that you wouldn't persecute LGBT people if given a chance.
This comment is hidden. Show Comment
@MrSmooTh two genders/sexes is the middle school simplification of biology, just like chemistry there teaches you that mass and energy can't be created it disappear. But then advanced biology and quantum physics comes into play and it turns out there's more than the 90% you've learned about during your basic course.

You already justified getting rid of transgender people based on not understanding biology beyond the very basics. Why should we take your word for it that the heritage foundation will skip the other 90% of their mandate after completing that first step?

I am an Independent voter, living in a Blue State, and I voted for Trump twice, and will vote for him again in 2024. Trump is the cure to the disease that has taken over the White House.
Stuffy · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou disease in White House? A quick for dummies explanation please
4meAndyou · F
@Stuffy The white house staff are far left radical liberals. And BIDEN was pandering to far left radical liberals. He doesn't believe in any of those ideals himself...but he does believe in power.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
Just because Trump was shot doesn't mean he's a good president. You're making your opinion on emotion, seeing violence happen like that, you tend to leap forgetting what he's said and done in the past. All of a sudden his bad qualities go out the window.

People are easy to manipulate for this reason it's the same principle that narcissists use to manipulate other people.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Okay. You actually think he represents strength. You actually think he is going to make America better. I would strongly recommend that you read something.

project2025.org

Yes, he's said he doesn't like it, but he keeps repeating talking points from it. Talking points like making giant detention camps for immigrants. Dismantling the FBI. Dismantling the Department of Education. Firing all the civil servants in federal government and replacing them with MAGA loyalists to prevent anything but far right fascist legislature from ever being passed again. Making it illegal to be gay or trans in the United States. Making it illegal to teach American history that deals directly with the oppression of racial minorities. Taking my tax dollars to use to force public schools to promote the Christian religion above all other religions, in a direct violation of the First Amendment of the US Constitution. If that's what you support, then you can quietly get out of my country.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@DeWayfarer This is what I've been saying. Trump is one of the most litigious people I know, and that's not even a criticism. He takes no sһit from anybody. You lie about him on TV or on the internet, you get sued. And yet he's not suing. It must be the truth, huh?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@LordShadowfire exactly!

You really need to read some objective history on the lead up to WWII, including Brown shirtism, Mein Kampf, and the demonization of non-main stream groups.

Trump has done virtually all the things old Adolf planned and did. I have German and Jewish friends who say Trump is exactly what their folks saw in the fascist Nazis.

Supporters think T will not come after them.
Trump attacks the usual boogeymen.

From the famous Rev Niemoeller poem about the WWII fascists you can see the SAME "boogeymen" listed in the RNC's latest party platform...

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

PS: My father was one of the American GI's that helped liberate one of the concentration camps. The pictures are horrific.

It's not about rights or opinion or any of that.
And it's definitely not about policy outside of abortion.
Historians, who are like scientists in that they only care about the process and not the results, have already listed him as being one of, if not the, worst performing Presidents in U.S. history.
It's about self-respect.Moreover, it's about being conned or not.
You've been conned. You won't see that but it's true.
Trump wouldn't walk across to spit on you or any of his supporters. He uses people for his own gain. Clearly. And he's doing it in the same exact way as despots, totalitarians and cult leaders have done it throughout history. All from the same playbook. It's blatantly obvious. But only to those, like I mentioned, with self-respect.
So you can talk about how 'moderate' you are if it makes you feel better. But it goes way deeper than that. A desire to oppress, hate, lacking empathy, fear of 'the other,' historical ignorance and ease of manipulation has been at play throughout history. And it's on full display right now.
So thanks for allowing me the right to say that.
Everything you said is true. That does not mean I will or will not vote for him. What surprises me are the many comments here that are genuinely angry that you are exercising your right to vote for whom you choose. I call that tyranny.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SmileOnYourBrother Fascists are far right, sparky. But thanks for letting me know you want to vote for the guy who will take away my insulin.
@LordShadowfire You want to talk about tyranny? Using lawfare in the attempts to get your political rival imprisoned over lies.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@NativePortlander1970 and more lies from you. Why am I not surprised? You don't even recognize it, because your orange master says it, and you've been conditioned to believe every lying word out of his mouth.

Now give me a laughing emoji If you know I've got you dead to rights.
TheRascallyOne · 31-35, M
Im a Trump supporter i just want what's best for the country
Let me quote :
I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.
― Thomas Jefferson
@LamontCranston
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@LamontCranston They don’t just have a difference of opinion in politics, religion, or philosophy, they have differences of opinion on human rights. That’s what the “political” culture wars are all about these days.
@Theyitis If you say so. People with your attitude become more demonic than you believe your opponents to be.
You're definitely welcome to like who you like. Believe what you believe. Though you can't support Trump and call yourself a moderate. He's Chaos personified. He was prepared to blow up the democracy rather than lose. It's a fact. He is a radical choice.

I'm a moderate who agrees with perspectives from both the left and the right.

Literally everyone who says this always turns out to be a Fascist. If a person claims to be a Liberal, they're actually in the Center. If a person claims to be a Centrist or a Moderate, they're a Fash.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@BohemianBabe I know, right? It never fails.

This is interesting to read because it gives a rare insight into what the average Trump supporter actually thinks. The ones who post a lot on this website are (to put it politely) pretty hyperbolic!

Though I definitely don't agree with you.
trumps the best prez for the economy and world peace in my life time.
but now im just a fan because he pisses off all the ppl i cant stand...

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout are you better off now economically then you were 4 years ago? If you believe you are, tell us how?
@samueltyler2 didnt cost me a weeks wages in petrol and groceries under orange man..
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout do you remember what it actually did cost, and not during COVID when gas prices plummeted. Where do you live, that you use petrol anyway? I didnt think the Orange man had much control over prices in Australia!

I am sure there were those Germans who said the same of Adolf Hitler.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@Burnley123
Most NAZI Party voters in 1933 were not full-on NAZIs and we would understand them. They were mostly ex-conservatives and liberals who hated the left, believed some anti-Jewish conspiracy theories and thought the country needed something else to deal with the political crisis.
Precisely. They were looking for a strong leader type who could help them navigate frightening times, and assure them that the economy would recover and the alleged "border crisis" could be solved.

Trump is not Hitler but...
But he does claim the problem is immigration, villainize a particular religious group, and claim that white people are in danger of being replaced in order to gain support for the construction of massive detention camps to concentrate certain populations...
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@CorvusBlackthorne there are some stark parallels!

Those concentration camps seem to be big job creators in construction and and in staffing for guard positions. They might have to hire illegal aliens to be the guards. They are having problems getting citizens to be members of the Slave Patrol so they are hiring illegal aliens to be cops in America.
Even tho you're being hella nice and respectful, people will still be mean to you and come off agressive and rude towards you. You being a female and being conservative-ish will get you double the hate.

Be clear: On Jan. 6, 2021 Trump instigated a COUP to overthrow the gov't of the U.S. He lost the 2020 election, but instead of accepting the result he organized an attack on congress. The seditionists mission was to kidnap or kill members of congress. That is high treason. Thankfully that coup attempt failed. Th

Trump has repeatedly said he wants to suspend or terminate the U.S. constitution. He has said he intends to be a dictator "on day one."

There is nothing "moderate" about Trump.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@badminton Not one of these things are true.
biandlargeny · 56-60, M
Respect. That's the way this country used to view the issues. We should go back to that ideal
Here come the liberals with their hate rhetoric.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
you are entitled to your opinion. That is what makes our country great. Our country is the greatest one in the country. Rather than argue with you, let me ask you this one question, are you better than you were in 2020? If you have one, where is you 401K?
I'm at the same place you were in the 2020 election, just not going to vote. I don't care for either candidate.
@independentone Once again, who is going to enforce the Constitution against the Republicans? The SCOTUS?
@BohemianBabe I really don't want to speculate on something that hasn't happened, and in my opinion, will never happen.
I do think if the dems want to win the white house and possibly either the house or senate, Biden needs to step aside, and do it soon.
Joe Biden can not beat Trump and with the hollywood set not donating, the house and senate will also be lost.
