One of the great things about America is that NOBODY is above the law. If the judge decides on a custodial sentence then we have to respect that.
SunshineGirl Β· 36-40, F
That is down to the judge and the process of law. Popular opinion should not interfere. Personally speaking, I don't believe in retributive justice and think that prison should be reserved for those who pose an actual harm to individuals and society. I think making him pick up litter on weekly community service would be better for all concerned π

I'd rather see him out of politics, honestly, and I don't see imprisonment as doing that. I'm guessing, he'll be sentenced to some time, but I doubt he'll end up in Rikers, and I dont think a July sentencing will keep him from getting the Republican nomination, or even cost him that much in the general election.
It seems most likely, he'll get sentenced, not to have serve on appeal, and by the time that's over, he'll either be President and beyond New York's authority, or be facing more serious time and consequences from other charges in DC federal court, Georgia, and maybe elsewhere.
Now, having said all that, do I think he should go to Prison in an ideal world? Yes, but maybe not for these non-violent crimes, as opposed to for other things he's done and for which I think he should also be convicted.

@MistyCee How about house arrest? How about Trump confined to his luxurious NY apartment with an ankle monitor and no travel? Do you think that would be a feasible sentence for a first time felon?

@ElwoodBlues I'm guessing House Arrest, or something like it would be how he'd end up serving time, but I doubt he'll have to campaign or accept the Republican nomination by zoom.
IM5688 Β· 70-79, M
Guilty or not, Trump will never go to prison.
It has been said that, the best way to hurt rich people is to turn them into poor people.
That's what they're doing to Trump.
He will be forced to pay fines and legal costs to the tune of millions and that will hurt him.

I think he deserves it but I don't think it's good for the county and I don't think he actually will. Sometimes we have to rely on karma and the universe for implementing proper justice βοΈ
DeWayfarer Β· 61-69, M
Not over until the New York supreme court turns down an appeal. And the process for that can't start until a sentence has been declared.
Longpatrol Β· 31-35, M
I think it's very extremely unlikely he does any jail time. And in this case it will be house arrest given who he is.
OliRos Β· 22-25, F
No, he's an old man and he is a former President of the United States.
It is sad enough for the country that he should be a convicted felon.
On a practical level, you would be sentencing his bodyguards to share his jail time.

Yep. He should be banged up for locking hundreds of millions of people in their homes and pushing unsafe experimental operational warp speed maga jabs.
This current show is just that.....all for show, its orange man's character arc. Hero for some, arch villain for some. Going to keep you voting though.....the most important charade to maintain.

Of course he should. He wonβt yet though.
However, heβs increasingly unlikely to be re-elected, and if heβs not then he IS going to jail. Heβs been convicted on all counts in by far the weakest of his four cases. Heβs done for in the other three.

He's been found to have commited crimes so yes he should go to prison.

Trump is unfit to be President Biden's shadow and I hope they finally drop the hammer against trump and arrest him for all his misdeeds. A future without Trump is a prosperous America. Vote Joe every one !!

I think if he is sentenced to jail time it will be a one day sentence... On release There will be restrictions
JSul3 Β· 70-79
Cohen was sentenced to 3 years for his part in the crime.
So Trump should be sentenced to a bare minimum of 3 years.

There are cheaper ways to administer justice than locking him up.
how about do to him what he is calling to be done to the people he claims are the ones guilty for his crimes?
How about at minimum, that he does a little more time than his already convicted accomplices?
Why are we afraid to do that? Iβm afraid of what happens if we donβt!!!

The defense and the prosecution both agreed on the 12 jury members. He was found guilty of all 34 charges by a jury of his peers according to the rule of law. Sentencing is scheduled for June 11.

I knew when they refused to hold him accountable at impeachment, it was the biggest tactical error the Republicans ever made in my life.
He deserves everything including having the 14th amendment applied to him.
Everyone complaining about it always admit they are uninformed, both sides do it, they are all the same anyhow. Bla bla bla Iβm lazy and vote how my daddy told me is all I hear.

If a prison sentence is listed as punishment for the 34 felonies he committed, was indicted for, and found guilty of, then fuck yes.

i think, and I need to double check, but i) jail isn't in scope for sentencing in this judgement and ii) POTUS can't pardon themselves from state judgements (they can on federal judgements)
