Biden lambasts a victory for the environment

News Flash: Several OPEC+ members are set to tighten global production by an additional 1.16 million barrels per day until the end of the year. They're helping save the environment!!!!!!!!!

YAY! Right?

U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration has repeatedly lambasted the OPEC+ group for its production cuts.

Shouldn't Joe and Greta et al. be praising OPEC from the rooftops? I just don't get it. Fossil fuels are too polluting for us to produce for ourselves and the world, yet when our pushers in the middle east stop producing them we get in an uproar.

Please explain.

It looks like you're not aware that there's a war in the Ukraine and that OPEC members are trying to use oil as a weapon. Easy mistake to make, when you see the world in MAGA glasses.

@Nighttalker
there’s nothing ill informed or misleading about anything I’ve said.

Let's dissect this statement

Buden killed the US oil production on day one in office: So, he got into office, went into the White House garage, and switched off the oil production spiget? But, let's look at the numbers, by thousands of barrels per day:

2017: 9,359
2018: 10,953
2019: 12,315
2020: 11,318
2021: 11,254
2022: 11,887

Well, shit son, it looks like he turned off the water to the Fox reporters' lunch room, not the US oil production. Easy mistkae to make.

Biden killed a booming economy on his first day in office, that’s a fact.

So, let's consider the actual numbers:

U.S. gdp growth rate for 2021 was 5.95%, a 8.71% increase from 2020
U.S. gdp growth rate for 2020 was -2.77%, a 5.06% decline from 2019
U.S. gdp growth rate for 2019 was 2.29%, a 0.65% decline from 2018
U.S. gdp growth rate for 2018 was 2.95%, a 0.7% increase from 2017

Well son, once more you're spouting out bullshit, not facts. Who was President in 2019 and 2020? How about 2021? that was President Biden's first year in office, right?

He also traitorously left a $billion of weapons in the Taliban’s hands when he fucked up the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

You should not get your information from Breitbart. It could affect your credibility.

The fact is that we spent over a $Trillion on our disastrous invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq (remind please, who started that?). This was over a stretch of 20+ years. The equipment in the bases we evacuated, was disabled, and some of the equipment in the Afghan Army's hands, fell into Taliban hands. There's not one thing the US could have done about it. No matter who was in the White House.

This should server as an example of what will happen, if a GOP President was in office, and decides to do something, like for instance, send missions to attack drug cartels in Mexico.

He also left hundreds if not thousands of people to die or worse at the hands of the Taliban, who had helped the US.

And that's one of the biggest lies morons continue to regurgitate.

The FACT is that ALL US citizens, living in Afghanistan, were individually contacted by the State Department, and offered a chance to evacuate to the US, at taxpayers expense. More than once.

Some of them refused. They are dual citizens. That is their choice, and there is not one fucking thing the President can do about it. Take the Mayor of Kabul for instance. When he emigrated to the US, he was flying to American Airlines. Then, at one point, following our invasion, he became a key US ally, and the Mayor of Kabul. He refused to leave. He continues to be the Mayor of Kabul, and shares an office with the Taliban.

Take the case of another contractor. He had emigrated to the US. Then, in the middle of the last evacuation, he arrived to Kabul, went off and married someone, then showed up at the Kabul airport, demanding that he, his new wife, and her entire fucking family, be allowed to evacuate on one of the planes. Next think you know, the MAGA media is crying foul, and demanding to know why President Biden left him and his family behind.

That is the reality of Afghanistan and war. No crimes and misdemeanors. Just a mop up operation, that TRUMP planned for, when his teams met with the Taliban.

Wake up son. A clear examination of the facts, proves that you shared propaganda, not facts.

@ron122 I love how you pretend to know all this stuff about me, but in reality, you know Jack shit.

@LordShadowfire Look at your profile it's all fantasy bullshit. And you've admitted you live with your parents.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@ron122 Of course I live with my parents. My dad would be dead in a week if I weren't here. But you choose to believe that because I am his caregiver, I must be a little kid in a grown man's body or some bullshit.
Graylight · 51-55, F
It's simple.

This is not new business. OPEC similarly cut prices last October. In a statement, they said: the decision to cut production was due to “uncertainty that surrounds the global economic and oil market outlook.”

"They're making what may effectively be a preemptive cut anticipating weaker economic conditions coming during the rest of this calendar year and trying to balance their production with what they perceive the demand will be," said Tim Fitzgerald, professor of business economics at Texas Tech University.

Why is Biden displeased?

“We don't think that production cuts are advisable at this moment, given market uncertainty, and we've made that clear," White House Spokesman John Kirby said on Monday.

The production cut coincides with an ongoing rise in gas prices. The national average price for a gallon of gas stands at $3.50, which marks a 2% increase over the past week and 3% spike over the past month, AAA data showed. In California, the state with the highest gas prices, the average price per gallon is $4.83, according to AAA.

@irishmolly72 Prove me wrong. "😆"

@Graylight I don't need to prove anything to a guy with a room temperature IQ.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@irishmolly72 Well, you're wrong on two points.
Livingwell · 61-69, M
They are artificially reducing supply so they can raise prices before the summer travel season. Remember.. they agreed late last year to increase production by 2M barrels a day even after the US threatened to cut off military support. They did it anyway, including Russia who is under an UN embargo due to the war.
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
They are doing it harm the world economy the saudis are in bed with Russia now so its not surprising.

Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
We are going to use the same amount of oil, just have to pay more for it
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Subsumedpat No, the world will suddenly become pristine! That's why Biden crippled our own oil industry isn't it?
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
@irishmolly72 Dont think either will happen, he might have tried but b it is not crippled. Of course there will come a day when we dont have enough oil cause we pumped it out, then we will have to do something else if we have not already.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Subsumedpat Markets work, even when it's not pretty.
Ynotisay · M
It's easy. Lack of production drives prices up to the consumer. The Saudi's are driven by revenue. They want high prices. That's why they're doing this. It's the farthest thing from a move to help the environment. Not even close.

The failure to persue alternatives to gasoline is a political choice.
Ynotisay · M
@Roundandroundwego At the very least you need to move off the trail argument. That's not your lane. Clearly. What country do you live in man? I'm curious.
@Ynotisay obviously you're not. Cities need to serve people. Housing and transportation needs should never be privatized. getting personal seems to be your way out of the truth -. Driving was always wrong. It's now an emergency to stop.

Maybe there fact that for about a hundred years the junk science of chimney sweep city smoke became smogging became ecology became environmental protectionism..

And the jobs conjured to tax funded yet empty skillset degree holders is too expensive to fund while finding the great fear of the fake alien invasion.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
why should "it be a victory for the environment", unless voters clearly express a preference for energy restrictions and higher prices?
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SusanInFlorida Because Greta says so.

@irishmolly72 Blonde teenagers do tend to attract the attention of the news media.
Cierzo · M
They should cut it more and send the price to 150-200$ per barrel.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@Cierzo energy should neither be subsidized nor prohibited, as long as it complies with legitimate regulations passed by congress and federal agencies.

subsidies and bans are intended to "create winners" in the marketplace, who will reward certain politicians with donations and support.

Decreases in production aren't designed to help the environment. OPEC reduces production to raise prices on oil so they can bleed people dry. In the 1960 Making of the President, Theodore White wrote how everyone understood at that time that fossil fuels were dead. But here we are. Fossil fuel just won't die.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SW-User
Decreases in production aren't designed to help the environment.

Who cares what they're designed to do. Shouldn't we celebrate along with Greta anything that benefits the environment?
SW-User
@irishmolly72 not a big enough impact to make me celebrate but I don't see an issue with anyone else celebrating. However the end result is some very bad people getting a shit ton more money to do bad things.
pdqsailor1 · 61-69, M
OPEC cuts will have no bearing on demand just price increases and its not the environment they are saving but money they hope to make.. it forces other producers to pump more oil to meet the demand.. OPEC does NOT control world oil production it is a player in it.. You need a broader view of where the oil is...
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Presidential performance is often incorrectly tied to gas prices at the pump. President has very little control over it beyond what they can do as far as releasing from strategic preserve. But fuel prices are something felt by most Americans. So properly or improperly blamed, presidential reputations can be made or broken on gas prices.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
Failure to allow alternatives is actually a war on the environment.
