Biden lambasts a victory for the environment

News Flash: Several OPEC+ members are set to tighten global production by an additional 1.16 million barrels per day until the end of the year. They're helping save the environment!!!!!!!!!

YAY! Right?

U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration has repeatedly lambasted the OPEC+ group for its production cuts.

Shouldn't Joe and Greta et al. be praising OPEC from the rooftops? I just don't get it. Fossil fuels are too polluting for us to produce for ourselves and the world, yet when our pushers in the middle east stop producing them we get in an uproar.

Please explain.

It looks like you're not aware that there's a war in the Ukraine and that OPEC members are trying to use oil as a weapon. Easy mistake to make, when you see the world in MAGA glasses.

@Northwest Yeah, so it's a mistake to reduce CO2 emissions now? Don't tell Greta that!
@irishmolly72 Too late I told her! She isnt happy 🤪

It's really amusing when grown ass people are flipped, when a teenager points out the obvious.

But I digress. It looks like you're not aware of the Ukraine war. read up on it, it's all over the news. 🤣

@Northwest She's quite intelligent, very aware of the war, and is pulling your chain....and you took the bait.
Northwest · M
@Livingwell I’m sure that’s what happened 😂 and you happen to be her ventriloquist?

@Northwest I'll just say my G2 source confidence level is high....

@Northwest Thanks for informing me about the war. Now I understand that it's all over the news. The contradictions inherent in libralism are all over the news too ☺️. CO2 reduction is always and everywhere good, right?

Saving the planet for the next generations, should be a universal concern, not to be confined to liberals.

But people like you, turn it into a political case. I'm sure some people on the other side also treat it as if it's a political thing. And you're trying to disguise your post as an environmental concern, so pardon my sarcasm.

Reducing harmful emissions, remains the #1 goal, as part of a strategy to move the US, and the rest of the planet, toward a renewable energy future.

This, however, must be balanced with making sure the economy does not stall, due to inflation and other factors. The administration tried, for over a month, to convince the OPEC shakers and movers, to delay an output drop, NOT because it will reduce consumption, but because it will drive prices higher, for the SAME level of consumption, and contribute to inflation.

Of course, part of the administration's reasoning is political, as the GOP is using this, out of context, to push a "Biden did this" agenda, ahead of the 2024 elections. And it's working. I mean, look at your post.

Saudi Arabia's reasoning is purely economical. They plotted a vision for the future of the Kingdom, and computed a minimum price of a barrel. The price of oil dropped below that level, and they needed a correction.

The Russia, Iran, Venezuela axis, has other goals. But the President of the USA has no control over either set of goals. China is happy, because Russia is selling it oil at a discount.

So, perhaps you can take a nap, wake up, and start looking for the forest, because, sure as fuck, you're only holding tight to one or two trees.

PS: please, put your BF on a leash. That is unless it's a thing for the two of you, where he feels the need to be your knight in shining armor. This shit is for novellas.

@BritishFailedAesthetic That's where you draw your power? By mocking young girls with disabilities? Paper dragon.
@Graylight Didn't mock her for that, numpty.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic You mock her. She's a young girl. She is autistic. Your 'intention' matters not, Troll.

(Otherwise you're mocking her to her awareness of Climate Change, and I don't use the kids of words to describe what that makes you.)
@Graylight People get mocked all the time. Nothing to do with her disability, snowflake.

BTW is this you?

@Northwest You're a joke. I'm damn sure not MAGA but also sure I'm not a liberal. I actually think for myself. You are really brave online and try to come off as intelligent. I know far more than you about the multiple subplots involved in this situation. You limit the problem because you can't grasp the matrix of factors to consider. Even at a fundamental level, you should know that burning fossil fuels for energy, not cars, is the largest contributor of CO2 and CO emissions. Calling me or anyone else names or trying to bully people shows your weakness and your lack of intelligence. If you really understood, all of the green energy savings in the world won't stop or slow what's going down now. The earth has started a normal warming cycle. It's anyones guess as to how warm. And it's the small economically unstable countries that are the biggest polluters. As for my comments about the OP, I happen to know that her intelligence far exceeds many here, including you. I don't agree with all of her points but I we can have an intelligent conversation without belittling each other. She can defend herself quite well but I found it funny that my comment instilled so much fear that you had to attack me passive- aggressively. Take your trike and go home. You're out of your league.

@Livingwell ... and that's how a chain is properly jerked. 🤣

It's astonishing we haven't had another Great Flood from all the bitter tears you keep crying.

The way you're going on thats your job.

@BritishFailedAesthetic You can say words, but that doesn't make words true. Thanks for playing.

@Northwest we need to get off the green shit right now. Strengthen our economy and be strong again right now. We can’t afford to continue on the green path right now! China is a real threat and we’re getting weaker! How would a nuclear war affect the planet for future generations?

It's too late to stop the Biden/Yellen/Powel inflation freight train. Printing trillions of dollars out of thin air and giving it away to people like college students who will some day be among the wealthiest human being to ever have lived, is what causes chronic, problematic inflation. Oil is an excuse. War is an excuse. Supply chains are an excuse. Providing near-zero percent mortgages and lowering the cost of capital to businesses to practically zero is what created chronic inflation. Zombie companies need to die and it won't be pretty. The alternative will be inflation, but hey, Biden can just blame it on the Saudis.

It's really wild how something that did NOT happen, is driving inflation. I also commend you on throwing another exaggeration into the mix. So, the previous claim was that the degrees, that the Biden administration wants to pay off (student debt) are worth nothing, but now they're among the wealthiest human being to ever have lived?

Because, if this is what's going to happen, then these people will pay back, multiple times more than the cost of bailing them out, and will do it for decades to come. Why? because the new tax plan, puts more of a burden on the wealthiest, and that's how you're reclassifying in as, right? That is, unless you want to go with the GOP, and place the tax burden on the middle to lower income population.

But I digress, and would like to understand how the debt forgiveness plan, which is stuck in Congress, has affected inflation.

Oil is an excuse. War is an excuse. Supply chains are an excuse.

Right, because this is a uniquely Biden issue, right? Because the UK's 10.4% inflation is an excuse. The 7.3% French inflation is an excuse. The 9.4% Swedish inflation is an excuse. The 7.4% Australian inflation is an excuse.

It's 6% in the USA now. Down nearly 1.5 points from the same time last year.

But let's get back to oil. One of the primary inflation drivers. In an open market system, as in non-communist, non-government controlled pricing, no US President, or administration, is responsible for oil price trends. It has a mind of its own, and the only way to control it, is to switch from capitalism to communism, or extreme socialism. It's as if you have no clue how that works.

Providing near-zero percent mortgages and lowering the cost of capital to businesses to practically zero is what created chronic inflation.

Shockingly, that is 100% bullshit. Between 2008 and 2016m as pat of the effort to get us through the financial collapse, the base interest rate was near 0%. I recall that Trump, when the Fed gradually raised rates from 0.5% to 2.5%, throw a tantrum, and accuse the Fed (that he hand picked) of trying to sabotaging him, demanding that they reduce it to -0.5%, just like Germany. I say shockingly, because you don't seem to be aware of these simple facts.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Northwest The difference is, inflation was quite low under Trump. His policies helped bolster the supply side which kept inflation quite low even as the money supply expanded. Having said that, I'm not really a Trump fan either.

Try again. Inflation was also pretty low during the Obama years. It doesn't really matter whether you're a MAGA fan, the important thing is to stick to reality, and you're not.
Nighttalker · 56-60, M
@Northwest if Biden hadn’t killed the US oil production on day one of his reign, we wouldn’t have to be concerned with the effects of that war or with OPEC or with such high inflation either.
