Biden lambasts a victory for the environment

News Flash: Several OPEC+ members are set to tighten global production by an additional 1.16 million barrels per day until the end of the year. They're helping save the environment!!!!!!!!!

YAY! Right?

U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration has repeatedly lambasted the OPEC+ group for its production cuts.

Shouldn't Joe and Greta et al. be praising OPEC from the rooftops? I just don't get it. Fossil fuels are too polluting for us to produce for ourselves and the world, yet when our pushers in the middle east stop producing them we get in an uproar.

Please explain.

It's easy. Lack of production drives prices up to the consumer. The Saudi's are driven by revenue. They want high prices. That's why they're doing this. It's the farthest thing from a move to help the environment. Not even close.

@Ynotisay Of course, but it does cut down on CO2 emissions.

@irishmolly72

How ?
Just becsuse prices increase doesn't mean less driving
I have to get myass to work no matter the cost and there isn't adequate public transportation to rely upon

@irishmolly72 Sort of looks that way on paper but it really doesn't cut emissions. There's still the same number of internal combustion engines. There might be the slightest decrease due to people driving less because of the cost. But for the most part people still need to drive so they just end up paying more.

@Ynotisay It's not Saudia Arabia's problem that demand is inelastic. But in theory, lower supply drives up prices and reduces quantity demanded (even if just by a little). The Saudis are Biden's accidental environmental friends! He should be praising them!

Isn't that how environmental fanaticism is supposed to work, or am I missing something????

@irishmolly72 I'll say you're missing something. It's called a good faith argument coupled with intellectual honesty.

@irishmolly72 Ah. I get it now. You're just looking for something to whine about with the environmental movement. Which, by the way, is in YOUR best interest. That's the part that cracks me up. How those who manipulate for money have SO easily trained a certain type of person to act against their own best interest. It's amazing to me. SUCKS for the rest of us to live amongst those types though. They'll will be swept to the curb eventually, because they ALWAYS are, but it just means it takes longer for the rest of to move forward. Such a drag when everyone has to pay for the insecurities and utter foolishness of the most easily manipulated. Now go drink some toxic water and breathe dirty air. That's your lane so walk the walk.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@Ynotisay Is that why the environmental movement basically ignores the biggest polluters on the planet... China and India? If they really cared about the environment, that is where the vast majority of their focus would be.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@irishmolly72
Do you think those countries would even entertain that ?
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@pdockal Perhaps not at first, but we need to correctly identify the problem if we have any hope of actually solving it. Or is there some other agenda???
pdockal · 56-60, M
@irishmolly72

Money is ALWAYS the agenda
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@pdockal You make a great point. It just appears very disingenuous for the left to focus their vitriol on the countries that are actually making the most progress on the technologies and policies that will reduce carbon emmissions, while giving basically a free pass to the biggest culprits. Odd, huh?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@irishmolly72 The hilarious part is that's what you think is actually going on.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@irishmolly72
I din't really care @LordShadowfire

Go figure
LMAO
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@pdockal I care because it's people like you who are the problem. Folks like you who intentionally ignore the point in order to own the libs.
