Do you know how fast our economy would collapse without our bases all over the world protecting our "interests"?

Trump is a stupid man but you could give it a minute and try to think this through. What purpose does NATO serve?

Hint, very little of it has to do with Russia.
Fairydust · F
@thisgenericnamehere
Is he really that stupid? I’m by no means a fan of him but he’s way better than Biden. Plus he’s not a WEF member.

I believe America won't be that stupid. If you isolate yourselves from the world, and close your eyes to the horrors, you will not even see that democracy after democracy will be destroyed by the tyrants, until you are the last guy standing, surrounded by super-powerful authoritarians regimes. Some hundred million Americans and billions of slaves of the tyrants.
Now is that really what you want. 😐
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@JonathanSJ you turned to China one step above me here.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@helenS Deleted by the admins? WTF?

You can send it to me in a PM if you remember it.

That's uncalled for and I'd be pissed too.
JonathanSJ · 36-40, M
@samueltyler2 I am sorry. What I wanted to say is America and Russia are in indirect conflict and there are 3 set of countries. One, those are supporting the cause of Justice. The other, that are supporting the Russian regime like China. There is a third group which is taking advantage of this fight from both the US and Russian camp. These countries are dangerous for all the reasons.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Are you a paid propagandist or something? It's amazing how most of your posts support weakening US international strength or promoting policies that will destroy the health, happiness, and freedom of US citizens.
marke · 70-79, M
@ViciDraco
Subjecting the US to the UN's atheistic Marxist goals and agendas does not make America stronger.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Stargazer89 You're a troll because you've admitted to being so in PM roughly two years ago, lol
Elessar · 26-30, M
@marke The UN is to marxism what you're to being a world famous p*rnstar

Democrats and liberals want the US to get into another war for Ukraine

literally just lying through your teeth to own the libs. The dems control the white house & a majority of Congress. If they wanted a war at this point, they could easily get it within 48 hours. They've overwhelmingly preferred a strategy of lend-lease and sanctions, which is good since Russia has a shit ton of nukes.

We need to focus on making America strong. Let Ukraine defend itself

1. We are letting Ukraine defend itself.
2. Part of the reason why we're so strong is because of our robust network of allies. If we just hung our friends out to dry whenever things got rough, that would go a long way towards undermining trust.
3. Ukrainian resistance to Russian imperialism is greatly weakening the kremlin. That means less problems for us to deal with moving forwards, so we can focus more resources on other threats like the PRC.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@stargazer89] i think both you and trump are wrong on this one . america is the lynch pin too the nato alliance and with there help has kept world peace since 1945 . there presence has helped end the cold war and the end of the soviet union . they have been a good foil for russia and stopped any really russian advance . now more so with vlad the mad in the kremlin and his sort of backward step towards a new cold war and the mistrust we really need america to stand up and be counted to help stop this monster

I asked questions and you claim I am making stuff up? I admit it, I did compose the questions I asked.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@marke You're all over the place here mate. After I pointed out we were talking about NATO and not the UN , rather than acknowledge your mistake you instead launched into a wild distraction trying to draw some ridiculous comparisons between the two. I'd stop digging if I was you.
marke · 70-79, M
@RodionRomanovitch

I'm not confused about my meaning, you are. However, I may be at fault for that but we will not know unless you and I discuss the issue more for clarification.

Biden and Ukraine are corrupt.

Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Unlearn We cannot look past January 6.
actually, NATO has nothing to do with it!

You, and Putin, seem to be ignoring a three-way treaty known as the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.

Essentially, Ukraine agreed to give up all its nuclear weapons to Russia in exchange for safety from a U.S. or Russian invasion. Russia's invasion of Ukraine violates that treaty. And as a signatory to that 1994 Budapest Memorandum, the U.S. has a definite interest in righting Putin's current wrongs.

In the final version of the deal, Russia promised not to attack Ukraine. While the U.S. and the U.K. assured Ukraine they would aid if it was attacked by Russia, that promised aid did not guarantee military support like a NATO country would receive.

In 2009, Russia and the U.S. announced that the assurances in the Budapest Memorandum would continue to remain in effect in the future.
https://www.verifythis.com/article/news/verify/global-conflicts/ukraine-agreed-to-give-up-nukes-in-exchange-for-safety-from-russia-invasion-attack-budapest-memorandum-treaty/536-8748a51f-10ee-47f0-be30-b4088750ee44

Sorry, dude, but Russia promised specifically NOT to invade Ukraine, and the U.S. promised specifically to ASSIST Ukraine if the treaty were ever violated. And that's JUST what the U.S. is doing now. And NATO has nothing to do with this treaty or our treaty obligations.
The only reason NATO exists is because…. Russia.
Should have been disbanded decades ago.

Trump was right in so many things. And he was a blessing for the rest of the world. He did not bring the US into any world. Of course this was not what the liberal (both elites and voters) wanted.

The purpose of NATO includes to support other members in war. U.S. started it, now U.S. can't back from it's responsibilities.

Elessar · 26-30, M
@ABCDEF7 Imagine that, Ukraine shut down 3 hostile radio networks *after* said hostile power illegally occupied a pretty large of their sovereign territory back in 2014. Maybe Tulsi here doesn't remember about that.

Or maybe you haven't yet answered why you think it's "irrational" to believe that a country that invades another country with 1/10 its military power, changing the excuse once per week and threatening to launch nukes on anyone who interferes once every two, is the one undeniably at fault?
PatKirby · M
@ABCDEF7
A powerful statement. Tulsi, who's intelligent, bright and resourceful who carries herself with dignity and honor, is the one who should be vice-president...

...instead of that cackling, dimwitted fool who's in there now whose sole purpose is to distract from the embarrassing comedy of errors on the train wreck driven by our 'dear leader.'
and we should throw the UN out of the USA and stop funding it
@saragoodtimes you should abide by it and stop making war.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@saragoodtimes The UN will be "Shanghai"d by the end of this century.. (I am SO punny today)😷

all these political deals and attempts at globalization started the last two world wars, you'd think people would've learned that lesson by now and cut their losses...

It won't be until europe is burning again that people will realize it, but of course it'll be too late by then...again...
Pfuzylogic · M
i will put this simply. trump was the worst president bar none. he was in the process of selling our most valuable military secrets to our enemies. Is that too difficult for the trump lovers to understand. he is/was a criminal that had felons as best friends.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
I disagree. Russia is expansionist and will NOT stop with Ukraine. I'm not happy about war, but I understand when you are faced with a choice of confronting a small problem now or a big problem later.
Budwick · 70-79, M
I tend to agree on this Star.

After all - what constitutes a victory in Ukraine? What does it look like when the dust settles? Does the dust ever settle?

I feel badly for the people of Ukraine. But their leadership has had a sketchy past. Zelensky isn't pure as the driven snow.

I'm not sure what the right thing to do is. But, I'm thinking it would be better for all parties to broker a peace. At least give it a shot.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@wildbill83 That's true.
War sucks.

Capitulation to slavery and tyranny sucks worse.

No argument from me on that.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@BohemianBoo Yes they are all the same. What they fail to realize is that if NATO doesn’t stop Russia from taking over Ukraine, Putin will take over the rest of Europe as well. He will have the sane mentality of calling up all European men to arms as he has done with Russian men. Either take up arms or be killed or imprisoned if you refuse.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
nato/un is a toothless dog, all bark no bite. even if the US was dragged into war, the military doesn't have the fresh recruits to fight it after the blow to moral/recruitment after biden's afghanistan pullout disaster, something that will take years and a new administration to recover from.

Of course, that could've been the democrats plan all along as an excuse for another draft. With the mentality of today's generations, I don't see them fairing any better than Russian conscripts...

Another war for Ukraine?

Can't quite remember the first one...
marke · 70-79, M

The US had promised by signing the Budapest Memorandum to defend Ukraine against Russia, but Obama unilaterally voided that agreement when Russia invaded the Crimea in 2014.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Oster1 the point I'm making is the poster said "Democrats and liberals want the US to get into another war for Ukraine" ....
That's not true yet he starts it as a fact... Like a lot of right wing statements presented as facts but they're not.... I'm simply calling him out on that
Oster1 · M
@Convivial Inflammatory? Perhaps. Certainly, there are issues, not being addressed! 😊🌷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
That is rather an "American" attitude to any war where the enemy can actually fight back.. Considering how late America showed up for the last couple of big ones, wouldnt it be nice if they actually showed up on time for the next one?😷
yes, focus on not sticking your nose on other country's affairs 🤣
Peril · F
@YukikoAmagi I take it by that you mean you didn't understand my question, which is in plain English and clearly a sensible and pertinent question. If youre not a native English speaker , fair enough, that makes more sense of your response.
@Peril that pig zelensky is clearly western's lackey, of course it would be a 'welcomed support' like you believed 🤦‍♀️ how come that normal human being with brain can't see something like that
Peril · F
@YukikoAmagi I suggest you stop being so gulllible , stop swallowing wild and patently false propaganda and instead take some tme to educate yourself properly about the appalling war Putin is inflicting on a sovereign country.

wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Roundandroundwego That's part of the problem, when we spend more on defense budget than the next ten countries combined, one would think we'd have more say at nato meetings; instead, our so called allies are dismissive and ridiculing of us... at least, until they need us...

Biden has his own plan to rebuild America from the ashes of a thousand riots, dozens of burned police cars, destroyed statues, and stolen elections. He supports the national pride of those nations most responsible for his election to office.
