Do you agree that parents who homeschool their children, should be paid by the government?

I was talking to a friend on here, and he agreed with me. I won't mention his name, because I don't want him to have to go into the witness protection program, for associating with a dirty rotten scoundrel like me.

In my state, it costs about $20,000 to teach a student for a year in a government school. Conservatives are not happy with our tax dollars going to a government school that focuses on teaching crap about pronouns, toxic masculinity, all white people are garbage, and of course, LGBTQRSTUV. Meanwhile, the government schools are saying that math and science are racist. lol

If parents want to forgo this insanity, and teach their own kids, I believe they should get paid. I believe that if this came to fruition, the government schools would be nearly empty. Yes the mafia (teacher's union) wouldn't like it, but tough shit.
4meAndyou · F Best Comment
In the United States, it is impossible now to separate the Marxist teacher's unions from controlling every single aspect of K-12 public school education. The slow and gradual transition to socialist brainwashing been going on for 100 years.

The Unions use the teachings of Marxist radicals like Saul Alinsky and Howard Zinn to form Common Core, STEM, CRT, and of course Equity, Gender Studies and racial disparity.

As a matter of fact, Hillary Rodham wrote her 1969 thesis at Wellesley College about radical socialist Saul Alinsky.

My point is that our public schools can not be saved.

IF a parent has no choice because their state has not approved transfer of educational funds to the parents for home schooling, or for other types of private or religious education the ONLY THING THEY CAN DO IS SPEND AT LEAST TWO HOURS A DAY TEACHING THEIR CHILD THEIR FAMILY VALUES.

They should teach their child at home the things that THAT FAMILY feels are the good things in life. They should teach their child that family is important. That the GOOD LIFE IS IMPORTANT, AND TEACH WHAT THAT GOOD LIFE SHOULD BE!

They should teach their child that children are there to be loved and cherished. That God or the equivalent, and faith are important. They should teach the values of hard work for equivalent reward. They should teach their own morals, that violence and killing and hurting others is the worst wrong, and teach their children honesty and cleanliness and all the other values that are NOW CONSIDERED BY SCHOOLS TO BE THOSE OF WHITE PRIVILEGE.

That was amazing. The libs must hate you on this site. lol You should run for office.

@JimBeam Thank you for best comment! Actually most libs have no idea I am here because I block the really nasty abusive ones...and most are really nasty and abusive.

I wouldn't run for office if a bear was chasing me...🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou

4me,

I left the site for about 6 months, but I remember you from back then. I'm happy that you're on our team.
We need you.

Lots of people ask what the difference is between a liberal and a conservative....
It's simple. If someone is shot to death, a liberal blames the manufacturer of the gun. A conservative blames the human who pulled the trigger.

Carissimi · F
How about this: If you homeschool your child, you don’t pay school district taxes. You keep it for yourself. Sounds fair to me.
SW-User
@Budwick yep... that's how it already is.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User Not in Ohio.
SW-User
@Budwick I meant that is why some have their children in schools...public or private.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
No as the state provides free education, the only problem is the rubbish that being taught is WRONG that actively promotes crap like 125 different genders, global warming or climate change of whatever it is called this week.
black4white · 56-60, M
@JimBeam they said that doesnt happen.... this planet has never changed
JimBeam · M
@black4white

It was global cooling......
Then it was global warming....
Now it's climate change....
Stupid people will believe anything.
black4white · 56-60, M
@JimBeam I dont care what you call it...just know its taking place.... just dont DENY it .... thats my thought process
If they are forced into home schooling their children, then yea I could see where that might be appropriate. If on the other hand, they choose to go that route, than no, that is something they have volunteered to do on their own. Of course, I believe the best approach is a combination of the two. My wife and I both kept active in our children's education, and ensured our values were passed on to them. Now that they are all grown, and successful in their chosen occupation, it seems that our approach worked out very well.
Punxi · 26-30, F
For what ever these two cents amount to... My sister and I were both home schooled from age 8/3rd. Grade. Attended via online studies by a virtual scholastic provider my mom paid for. Both graduated at age 15 with an accredited GPA that garnered a college scholarship. She, to my knowledge has never...would never seek reimbursement for providing us with an education. Nor will I one day when I send her grandchildren off to virtual class. 🤷‍♀️
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Yes. Money follows the kid. No the government has no say in the curriculum.
JimBeam · M
@MasterLee

Absolutely. Most people just don't get it. The government can't do anything right. Look who the "majority" of voters chose to run the world? lol
Fund the child..

RebelFox · 36-40, F
I roadschooled my son last year and it’s definitely a lot of work when you don’t get paid and can’t work because you’re being a parent and teacher. It’s a strain tbh especially as a single parent. This year he’s going back to public school and it kinda breaks my heart because I know he’s not gonna get much positive attention, it’s more like do what you’re told and stay out of everyone’s way. Not a fan of schools, but also, I can’t homeschool again because I have to have an income to survive. The government will never go for your idea 😆 they can’t mind control and brainwash kids to being robots without public schools. The government has a great system of suppression going on, outside thinkers are gonna pay and struggle for their originality.
JimBeam · M
@RebelFox

If we take the house and senate in a few months, I hope the Republicans abolish the department of education. It's a bullshit department that's not constitutional.

My school voucher post is not mine. Conservatives have wanted this forever. The Democrats are fighting it. I can't imagine why, but they just are.
BritishPerson · 41-45, M
If the government paid, might they then be able to require you to teach all of the rubbish they teach in state schools?
JimBeam · M
@BritishPerson

They would have no way of knowing what you taught in your home.
JimBeam · M
@Justmeraeagain

You have to think outside the box.
JimBeam · M
@robb65

That's why America is the laughing stock of the world.
Carissimi · F
No. If you get paid by government, you have to abide by their curriculum, which is Woke.
JimBeam · M
@Carissimi

It's rather simple. There's no way in hell they will expose their agenda (curriculum), like you suggest they will. It's not going to happen.

"I don’t do Twitter or Tiktok"

You actually don't need to, in being able to click a single button.

OK, your opinion is noted. You don't like my idea.
Carissimi · F
I’m not clicking a single button. I don’t go near the CCP’s website for anything. Gosh, I responded to your question, and now you have added layers of complexity. Just thank me for responding and good night. @JimBeam
JimBeam · M
@Carissimi

Good night.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
or we could just go back to the system that worked; where parents decide what schools teach their kids, not pedophile politicians and transvestites...
JimBeam · M
@wildbill83

Wild,
You made my day. lol

Who are these fucking freaks teaching school?
Iwillwait · M
Idk, the payout to me is, you get to controll the curriculum and have a deeper connection with your children.

They're should be subsidy for materials, food, flex space costs.
robb65 · 56-60, M
I'm always leery when the government starts handing out money. There's probably strings attached somewhere. "Keep your money and stay out of my business" works for me.
Here we had to jump through the religious loophole but at least the state mostly looks the other way and leaves it up to the parents how to go about educating their kids.
JimBeam · M
@robb65

I'm not sure what that has to do with my question, but, Okay?
JimBeam · M
@MarineBob

Bob, they tried that, and Joey had the FBI list them as domestic terrorists.
robb65 · 56-60, M
@JimBeam If they pay parents to teach their kids they will want to tell them what, how, and when they teach. Then of course there will be the parents realize they can get paid for pulling their kids out of school.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
No. But I do think both students and parents should be given tests from the local school district
JimBeam · M
@MarineBob

Tests?
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@JimBeam gotta make sure the kids are learning what the state says they should be taught
If you start taking tax dollars for home schooling, the gov't will dictate the cirriculum.
TexChik · F
Kids are not getting an education and have become the fodder of the perverted left. Education is one of those areas the libs have permeated because they want to destroy the county from within. No better way than to indoctrinate future voters . My kids are home schooled and we dont get one red cent from the state.
JimBeam · M
@TexChik

In the interest of full disclosure, I don't have kids, so I really don't have a dog in this fight. But it makes my blood boil when I see the absolute garbage they're "teaching" our youth. It's pure poison, and I think China is behind it. If you Google it, you will find that Bill Gates has said that math is racist.

I used to respect Bill when I was first learning about computers. But somewhere along the way, he went off the deep end. Bill is now buying up hundreds of thousands of acres of land, because he thinks we eat too much. Nothing will be grown on his land.

I'm going to be asking a question about the "Libs of TikTok." If you haven't heard of this, I hope you see the question.
TexChik · F
@JimBeam public education needs to be privatized and subsidized, and get rid of the teachers unions and make them directly accountable for the subject matter they are assigned to teach
JimBeam · M
@TexChik

Tex,
I went to the DMV to get a new driver's license. I took a number. Then I went grocery shopping for an hour. Then I went to a restaurant for an hour. When I got back to the DMV, I was excited that only 30 people were ahead of me in line.

The government is beyond hope. I totally get why the government fights me on my ideas, but why do parents fight me? I only want what's best for their children.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
I hate to disagree because I love your reasoning but home schooling is a right that you are able to choose.
Just like going to court. You still have to pay your own way to do it.
Man ... That sounded convoluted even to me and I wrote it. Huh.. LOL
JimBeam · M
@Dainbramadge

I'm not sure what you mean by the court thing, but if your son, Timmy, puts his but in a chair at Fredrickson Elementary school, that school will get 20K from the taxpayers.

If you choose to teach your own son, I think you should get the same 20K. Either way, it wouldn't cost the taxpayers a single dime extra.
I realize it's hard to imagine something that's never happened, but that's how we went to the moon. :)
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@JimBeam LOL. Yeah I even lost myself in my comment.
Probably should have just skipped answering but I think I thought I had something to say.
I do understand where you are coming from so don't get me wrong. Maybe like a child tax credit type thing. I should stop while I'm still semi afloat.
should the parents be able hold teachers and school responsible?
The bar has dropped lower every year to cover the education departments failures, to a point whole classes can’t pass a math test.
Kids used to get made to repeat a year if they didn’t meet ‘the standard’
Now they get a free pass because … you know? Feelings

Somethings gotta give.. just sayin
JimBeam · M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout

The one,

This is an actual conversation I had with a young girl, while going through the drive-thru at a fast food joint.

Jim: Give me your largest strawberry shake.
Girl: We don't have a largest strawberry shake.
Jim: You don't have shakes?
Girl: Yes, we have shakes.
Jim: You don't have strawberry shakes?
Girl: Yes, we have strawberry shakes.
Jim: Then give me your largest strawberry shake.
Girl: We don't have a largest shake.
Jim: What do you have?
Girl: Small and medium.
Jim: Then give me your largest medium.
Girl: You got it, pull up to the next window.

But I bet she knows her pronouns backward and forward.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Everybody wants payment for everything.
Homemakers want payments , college students want a free higher education, people want payments for what happened to thier ancestors,and people who refuse to work want payments.
Where would it end?
Some things you do out of love and realize there is no monetary gain in that choice.
This is from a homemaker.
Although, I have enjoyed my time as homemaker, I am considering going back to work part-time,as I realize there is no obligation for taxes payers to fund my lifestyle choice.
I am not saying that I don't agree with homeschooling, but with that choice comes the knowledge that you don't get paid for it.
And yeah, I realize my taxes dollars go for public education that rarely listens to parents concerns.
JimBeam · M
@Justmeraeagain

We never went to the moon before we went to the moon. Think outside the box.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@JimBeam otkey
updown2020 · 61-69, M
No the government should not pay parents for homeschooling there kids because they chose to do it . No one asked or forced them to do this it was all up to them.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@updown2020 they should pay teacher salaries to parents to offset costs
RebelFox · 36-40, F
@updown2020 Yes we must suffer for trying to be self sufficient
JimBeam · M
@updown2020

So should a guy like me with no kids be forced to pay for kids in public schools? Shouldn't it be my choice?
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
Parents should
Not be encouraged to educate at home.

School should provide a proper curriculum. Schools struggle to provide literacy and numeracy for the masses. Sexuality is definitely
Not a priority.

Schools need to do school better.
Parents need to parent better.
JimBeam · M
@RebelFox

And it doesn't. The definition of insanity, is trying the same thing over and over, but expecting different results.
RebelFox · 36-40, F
@JimBeam I homeschooled my son last year and I can tell you he likely learned way more about life and himself, not how to be a robo socially normalized ding dong.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Muthafukajones that may or may not be so, but there are many teachers leaving the field and the kids are not getting a very good education because of it. So with the teachers leaving the classroom it doesn't show a very good work ethic it does it?
I'm not blaming the teachers I'm just saying you can't tell kids they need to get ready to go to work by putting them in school when teachers are leaving the field right and left
SW-User
Nope, cause once that happens, the government has even more control and curriculum say so that meets their accreditation requirements
WhateverWorks · 36-40
I personally wouldn’t be comfortable with my tax dollars going towards that. Where I live homeschooling is very popular. The parents are mostly grossly underqualified and it is definitely not a ‘better education’. If someone is unhappy with public schools and aspires to make money then they can start a private school where there is still some sort of academic standard that needs to be upheld. 🤷🏻‍♀️
JimBeam · M
@WhateverWorks

It's not like you get to decide where your tax dollars go. I have no children, and I still have to pay for the pedaphiles teaching in public schools.
WhateverWorks · 36-40
You can vote in local politics and participate in city council, which effect these topics 🤷🏻‍♀️ @JimBeam
JimBeam · M
@WhateverWorks

And you can piss into the wind.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
So is the money coming from new money or the money that already goes into the school budget?
JimBeam · M
@DeluxedEdition

When your daughter, Jane, goes to the first grade, the government will give that elementary school $20,000 per year.

As my favorite Aussie on this site said: " The money should follow the kid." Exactly.

Jane is entitled to receive $20,000 per year for her education. That money/school voucher will be in YOUR hand. Spend it where you see fit.

If you want Jane to learn about safe spaces, LGBTQRS, toxic masculinity, gender studies.....then hand the 20K over to the public school system.

If you want Jane to be a brilliant surgeon, then hand the 20K over to a private school.

If you feel you are qualified to teach Jane, then put the 20K in your bank account.

None of this will cost the taxpayers an extra dime.

It's all about YOUR choice.
black4white · 56-60, M
NOPE and its because people will find a way to ruin it just like everything else
ABCDEF7 · M
The government should start regular exams for such cases to ensure the proper development of kids. Will government have right to penalize the parents if their effort is not up to mark?
ABCDEF7 · M
@Justmeraeagain If the kids are unable to perform up to the mark, then parents should be avoided to get the kids enrolled in proper school. Children learn social skills better in school.
JimBeam · M
@ABCDEF7

Keep in mind that if you speak out at school board meetings, attorney general Merrick Garland will have the FBI after you for being a domestic terrorist.

No one wants to hire the pronoun brigade. lol
CestManan · 46-50, F
@RebelFox Those kids falling asleep, I remember that feeling.

@JimBeam Schools actually do a good job of preparing kids for the world of work. Doing mundane boring busy work that really does not amount to anything. Silly rules changing often. Even if you do work your butt off, nothing seem sot come of it. Hearing the same BS over and over. Being told you need to work or try harder.

The only difference between school and work is that schools do not give you a pay check.

To be paid by the government leads me to believe there'd be paperwork to prove what all a parent is doing... government loves to be in people's business.
I'd rather I get a tax break/credit for what I spent on schooling material for the year. I don't want to be considered a government employee, which being paid by them seems to be how it would be.
Also, someone suggested not having to pay taxes for schools if home schooling. I agree.
