How is it possible that 77% of republican voters are still convinced the 2020 election was stolen?

SW-User
I don't know that they're actually "convinced" of it. That is what they have to believe. A Republican who doesn't think it was stolen is considered a traitor/secret Democrat/cuck, whatever. It's part of their identity to go along with the "stolen election" narrative whether they are truly convinced of it or not.

Either that or a large percentage of this country's population is just really fucking stupid 😂

@SW-User Half are drooling blithering mouth breathers with guns.

They are gullible idiots.
deadgerbil · 22-25, F
@SW-User that's a not so nice way of talking about dippyjoe and sporter. Apologize
Allelse · 36-40, M
@SW-User You think they'd get tired of being wrong all the time.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@Allelse Many have memories of a goldfish. That is why they are so easily played.

You really think most Americans wanted this horrible president Joe Biden

It was stolen. My apartment manager told me all about it. Dead people voted for Biden. Phony mailed ballots were counted. Software manipulated the results. Only Arizona admitted to this. None of the cheaters voted for Trump because Republicans have integrity.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Lukeman If only we had proof. ☺️

I think they're just authoritarians for the most part, looking for an excuse for fascism. "They stole the election" roughly translates to "we're going to make insidious laws that slowly takes away rights and use the excuse that the election was stolen in order to do so."
Piper · 61-69, F
It seems that many GOP voters are still convinced the 2020 presidential election was stolen somehow, for more than one reason. The two most common ones are unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud, and some still pending "proof" of it actually happening that will soon be exposed, and that the loser in the election said it would be stolen... if he did not win.

Maybe the MyPillow guy will have all the evidence of actual voter fraud, real soon. I don't think your percentage is far off, based on the most recent polls and surveys.
They're not. Conservatives just don't consider truth to be that important. What matters to them is that Trump becomes president again. Whether he lost or won, whether or not it's done democratically, none of that really matters.
RedBaron · M
@BohemianBoo As I said, many have left the party. That would skew the numbers.
@RedBaron I'd have to see the numbers on that. My guess is that the numbers are exaggerated, but hopefully I'm wrong.
RedBaron · M
@BohemianBoo Don't obsess about numbers. As the saying goes, "Figures lie and liars figure."

@Human1000 one word.
Only one needed.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Because 77% of Republican voters dont believe in Democracy as much as they believe in ruling. And thats fine with me. Just keep voting for the Titanic to stay afloat. The smart money is heading for the lifeboats.😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@KiwiBird Well if you have finished with Jacinta just send her over here...PLEASE!😷
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@KiwiBird Yeah, don't just throw Jacinta away. We could do with a genuine politician over here. Unfortunately I think we are following the US far to much.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@Bushranger "genuine politician" now that is an Oxymoron. Aunty Cindy is Genuine, ScoMo is a Politician....and Anal is a poster boy for Jenny Craig and Specsavers.
hyg346 · 41-45, M
Believing the lie is better than admitting the truth
pdockal · 56-60, M
because they refuse to have voter reform
where your required IDs to vote
the system has way to many flaws that allow corruption
if you want EVERYBODY to feel its a fair election then make the reforms to reduce coruption
@pdockal No, that was me who said every instance of proven voter fraud has been committed by republicans thus far.
Just because people like you will lie, cheat and steal, don't assume everyone else does.
Vin53 · M
There is no mail fraud, by either side. Its not even tactically feasible. When trump was in office he couldn't take a shit without it being leaked, (ewwwww) how is that an entire national election was fraudulent without one single person, who knew about it, releasing how it was conducted? Answer that please.

Some of them value a trump presidency and want to warp reality to achieve it. They live in alternate facts. They know it isn't true but go along with it, esp politicians who want to enjoy the support of trump supporters.

Some of them are simply uneducated rednecks who drank a billionaires Kool aid. You can see some of them on here. Their stupidity transcends subject matter and isn't just limited spouting election bs
nedkelly · 61-69, M
60% of Democrats at the last election were alive, 40% were classified as deceased
@nedkelly 70% of Republicans voted two or more times for Trump, only 30% were honest and only voted once. If you take out the voter fraud, Trump only received around 11 million legit votes.
Vin53 · M
You don't want to be within smelling distance of his source trust me.

@independentone
@Vin53 Oh, I know, but if he can make up numbers, I guess I can too. Let him try to prove me wrong. lol
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
My folks were convinced because my step mother's cousin had a friend who worked in the building where they were hiding the real ballots in Tennessee before the bomb blew up to destroy the evidence and that friend said it was because it would show the election was wrong. And my step mother's cousin wouldn't lie to her and her cousin's friend also has to be more trustworthy than the establishment.

People literally lie to the faces of a few people confidently enough that they believe it wholeheartedly. And then those people tell the people they know with absolute confidence that it is the truth. And the fiction then begins spreading rapidly.

I love my step mother, but she will believe just about any story that comes out of her family in Tennessee. She was once trying to tell me that the government was air dropping venomous snakes into the mountains that were crossbreeding with native snakes and creating deadly hybrids. And no amount of factual information I could present, even down to explaining the science behind why that was not a thing, would convince her otherwise. Because "these people saw it with their own eyes".
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@OggggO got me. My step mother wasn't even a trump voter. But she's surrounded by enough of them that she believes it just from being in that echo chamber.

The right wing propagandists are very good at marching lock-step on a narrative. Just look at the right wing nuts here and how reliably and in unison they have adopted the Democrats are pedophiles narrative. You would almost think they were paid shills with the display of synchronization they have.

That kind of social pressure is shown to work extremely well in conditioning behaviors. Like the experiments when people are in a waiting room and everyone stands up and sits down together in unison. People start copying not knowing what the hell is going on.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@ViciDraco 🤣
RedBaron · M
@ViciDraco It certainly worked in Nazi Germany with antisemitic propaganda.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
I’ve voted Republican my entire life with the exception of the last election and one other. To even remotely think the election was stolen is just absurd.

Hilliard lost because enough voters despise her. Trump lost because America got sick of their Twitter toilet tweeting megalomaniac “President”.

Neither is difficult conceptually.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@Adogslife excitement determines elections. When you run people that voters are more excited to vote against than for it's pretty easy to see how they lost.

I've not been voting as long as you have, and I tend to favor the other side but I tell ya, every election cycle I can't help but wonder how the people at the top of the tickets are supposed to be the best each side can find. I tell myself they couldn't possibly find worse people for the job.

And then somehow they find people to prove me wrong the next go around.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@ViciDraco insanely true.
Graylight · 51-55, F
They don't, not really. They need an extra blanket to cover up with in the night, and this is it.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
It’s not really they are convinced, but they are convinced that they should be the group in control regardless of the true election results.
@BackyardShaman They only care about "the will of the people" when they’re "the people".
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M

apparently 77% of republicans are sore loser and/or children
cycleman · 61-69, M
I can not believe what easy suckers they are to fall for Trump.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
It really doesnt matter at this time.
The country is united now, biden is working across lines.
The economy is booming.
The stock market is booming.
Were in great shape with foreign affairs.
Jobs are back in the country.
Were energy independent.
Covid has been stopped.
To list a few
What more could you want.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
I just googled it 77% of republicans believed it in November 2020 and in December 2020 it had dropped to 68% in April 2021 it had dropped to 59%

where'd you get your current numbers?

@RogueLoner and if you quote a fact then the Sagan standard comes into play:
“extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence”

the same way the left are convinced the 2016 election was stolen. You're all fools no matter what side you're on.

@RogueLoner Yeah RL, there are always attempts to influence how people vote in an election. Always, from many sides, in various ways. There is not always , however, enough "smoke" indicating that a particular other country that is not an ally has...to lead to bipartisan agreement on investigations into how that country attempted to influence an election.

I am a registered Democrat who votes, and I do not believe the 2016 was "stolen". I do not believe there was enough voter "fraud" beyond what there always is, to believe that. I know that many other "Democrat voters' do not think there was, either. To me, "stealing" an election means believing the votes an election were fraudulent somehow.
