These gorgeous animals were not meant to be cooped up in a small house. They are meant to run wild and be free in the beauty of vast nature. They are too dangerous and can change their mood in a heartbeat. People do get killed by these animals and it's not their fault. They are just doing what comes natural to them. They are trying to protect themselves from conceived danger.

I hate that some people are allowed to do that. Pure hubris, a case of more money than sense. 🙄

Big cats are wild animals, not to be forced to live in a house and not in the wild. It is true cruelty just for someone's pleasure

Big cats don’t belong in a house. I’m sure they are miserable.
There isn't a whole lot that the very rich can spend money on that the average middle class person doesn't already have equivelent to. They can buy a luxury purse fkr $40,000, but a poor woman can buy a near knock off for $40. They can buy a large pool, but someone can just go get gym membership with a pool. A mansion is just a roof over their heads with more rooms. Gold is nust a shiny metal.
So they gotta up the ante in each category of thing. Hard to buy a leopard, lion or tiger. They are like average household cats when young. When they get too big they get rid of them oftentimes. They didn't consider the consequences. Columbia has a hippo problem because of this, Pablo Escobar kept some as pets. After he was killed, they got loose. Now they are everywhere.

that's cruel to the cat

I believe THOSE rich people are drug dealers. They loose the big cats in their homes so that thieves can be terrified and deterred.

I think it's an ego thing. And I am 1000% against it. They should be free as they were meant to live.. 😌
StygianKohlrabi · M
@Magenta yeah especially when they are on social media

Had a friend some years ago that had a female mountain lion for a pet. Friendly cat. Found it as a cub.

Ego ...a sense of control... That's often imaginary in reality... Power...

After watching a short video of a wild cheetah in Africa jumping on a tourist vehicle with a sunroof and using the opening to squat and use the bathroom I’d think that big cats would be hard to housebreak. Seemed like that wild cat did it deliberately and there were people in that vehicle.

Wrong on every level - as well as a recipe for disaster. In my part of the world,it would be illegal - only zoos are authorised to handle wild animals of all types.

I guess some people need something to spend their money on but it isn’t best for the big cats.

It's another way to express being rich.

I think it's so trashy when people have wild animals as pets. Reminds me of Florida swamp people who keep tigers and alligators to try to prove their coolness. 🤮

Not rich but used to have one!

I'd love to have a Bobcat, but that's as big as I'd go.
