If two past lovers can remain friends... [I Like Psychology Books]

Are you more apt to believe they are still in love.... Or that they never were?

🤔
Starchild1983 · 41-45, F
That they have love for each other but not in love
Bratt · F
@Starchild1983 Great answer. 🙂
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
"Love" is just a chemical reaction. Once the chemical reaction fades, we have a choice to stay and be devoted anyway, or leave to find another fresh chemical reaction with someone new.

If two people no longer feel that spark, and they break up but stay friends, I'd say they once were in love but it faded.
Bratt · F
@DearAmbellina2113 Wow... awesome response and well said 🙂

I've remained friends with my two last lovers..

One has drifted away, after finally finding the right guy, she lives in Germany now, the other i still see regularly, she has issues and i try to help her because nobody else will but we're never getting back together.
th3r0n · 41-45, M
I think it's more related to actually caring than emotions

Lots of emotion could lead to a terrible breakup, or still being in love, but I think that legit caring for each other makes a bigger difference
Bratt · F
@th3r0n An interesting perspective. 🙂
Rambler · M
There are different ways of loving. If one does not feel hurt by the other, then it's possible for lovers to evolve into close friends. also rare in my experience.
Bratt · F
@Rambler Perhaps it's simply possibly makes it beautiful...even if rarely experienced.🙂
Rambler · M
@Bratt Yes, I think that's the way to look at it. :)
Neither. Relationships evolve over time.

Been there done that. My best friend happens to be an ex
@Bratt what's your take on the topic?
Bratt · F
@Callmewhatyouwill That the opposite of life or love is not death. For both love and life are eternal...and never Completely fade.

Deaths opposite is birth... space created for new life...or a new spark igniting love resumed.🙂
@Bratt wise words
Elessar · 26-30, M
More likely the former, in my experience. Usually such couples tend to get back together at one point or another.
Bratt · F
@Elessar Great answer 🙂
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Bratt Just what my eyes see, ma'am
ncgremlin · 56-60, M
I really loved this woman but when we broke up I couldn't be just friends i was in love with her to much more than just a friend
Bratt · F
@ncgremlin Perhaps sometimes saying good bye Is the best expression of love one can give. ❤️
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
I have never remained friends with an ex. I don't know. It's just confusing to me, lol.
Bratt · F
@LookingForTheSummer In practice of social psychology the answer to this simple question reveals much in terms of someones emotional wellness.

Great answer, thanks 🙂
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
@Bratt Yes, I think thats true. Answers to simple questions like this can say a lot about someone.
AlienZipper · 61-69, M
Or maybe that it is a friendship love and not a deep romantic type of love...
Bratt · F
@AlienZipper A great example of possibilities. 🙂
AlienZipper · 61-69, M
@Bratt

I think so too...just throwing that out there
SW-User
Depends how it ended I reckon, circumstances could have ended it rather than them falling out of love.
Classified · M
I think annoyances slowly build up and the spark left maybe?
Bratt · F
@Classified Certainly. What's that old Rush song: " If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice"
Classified · M
@Bratt That always sounds so sneaky to me 😋
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
Id say they are either mature enough to understand life or they are attempting to hold something together
SW-User
There is different types of love including friendship love.
Bratt · F
@SW-User I agree. 🙂
SW-User
I've been pondering this question for a long time; through many lives.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
The love can remain but the passion fades
Bratt · F
@FreeSpirit1 Absolutely agree. ❤️

@waleskinder A definite possibility, but the question itself is leading or suggestive. Seeking one side of the coin or the other.

You've landed on the edge my friend 🙂

HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
[image deleted]Could you repeat the question?
Bratt · F
@HoraceGreenley That's a lot of weenies 🤣
4meAndyou · F
They still love one another, each in their own way.
SW-User
Never were .
Bratt · F
@SW-User I tend to agree as true love regardless of the object of it affection....never fades. 🙂
SW-User
@Bratt I feel exactly the same way. I couldn't be friends with someone I was in love with and see them with someone else.
I have one ex that's still my best friend but that's honestly all he ever was.
smiler2012 · 56-60
bratt no you have to just have to take it for what it is a friendship and treat it as such do not dwell on what it may or may of not of been you both have moved forward
I am in great standing with most of my old lovers, exes etc.
not every KIND of love infers another Kind of love
Raven5168 · 41-45, M
Still love. Just a different love.

Enemies come from passion friends come from love.
antonioio · 70-79, M
They could still love one another but could not live together
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
I think there is some affection still there
masterofyou · 70-79, M
Yes...... it doesn't happen often....
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
Never were.
Bratt · F
@JaggedLittlePill Most probable response I received in a poll of 100 for a school paper.🙂
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
I have known couples who certainly cared about each other & continued to after their romantic end. But more than a couple of them years on have come to the realization they weren’t quite in love how they believed they were at the time. I know I’ve learned things about myself & life I couldn’t see at the time too. I try not to assume anything that doesn’t have a direct impact on me. I’d just be guessing anyhow.
Bratt · F
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit A process of self discovery and evolution perhaps... beautiful ❤️

I'm friends with my past lover and yes I'll always love her we talk once a week if not more
Bratt · F
@candycane Beautiful...and certainly reflects the consistency of your positive presence here. 🙂
candycane · 31-35, F
@Bratt I met her on e p and she's also here
candycane · 31-35, F
What do u believe
Bratt · F
@candycane That the opposite of life or love is not death. For both love and life are eternal...and never Completely fade.

Deaths opposite is birth... space created for new life...or a new spark igniting love resumed.🙂
