@BohoBabe Yeah, but come on. At this point, they're less like dialects and more like actual separate languages.

@LordShadowfire It's actually an interesting question, how speech is labeled. Generally, two varieties of speech are considered separate languages when there's no mutual intelligibility. And TBH, sometimes I can't understand Scottish English. So yeah, maybe Scottish English is its own language. But also, in Europe, a "dialect" is a language without a standard form. So I speak Standard German, but I can't understand German dialects. Whereas in America, when people say "dialect," they mean accent.

@BohoBabe I guarantee you that if you go far enough to the south and east in this country, you'll find at least one combination of accent and regional vocabulary that qualifies as a dialect at this stage.
