I like how Conservapedia lists George Orwell on their list of conservative authors

I think that entire website is just satire, yea?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
It's been a long time since I have read Orwell.

But isn't Animal Farm a criticism of a socialist revolution that strove to make "all animals equal" but ended declaring that "some animals are more equal than others?"

And I do recall in 1984, that part of the propaganda that students saw in Big Brother's history books, was the depiction of evil capitalists as fat greedy men and how grateful we all should be that Big Brother has gotten rid of capitalists. The reader is not expected to sympathize with that depiction.

I am not sure if i would call Orwell conservative, but I think conservatives can find things in Orwell that they will like.

@BohemianBoo Or perhaps that the original impetus for each of those movements was sincere, but that it soon got corrupted once individuals seized power.

@DrWatson That's what a lot of Leftists say, but I have to disagree. The Bolsheviks didn't come to power democratically, they did so tyrannically. And the most important part of Socialism is Democracy. Plus, while Lenin did a lot of good things, he was still a dictator who ran an oppressive state. It's not like the USSR was established by Socialists and then it degenerated into Tankies, they were Tankies from the start.

This seems semi idiotic to me.
Oh well the red pilled idiots stole my culture.

Might as well get used to the fact they cant create culture except maybe Rand. And if thats your best, yeah no wonder you steal everyone elses🤷‍♀️
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Alison No, Orwell is a writer who appeals to many different political belief systems. You can't claim him as your own, otherwise you are just as ridiculous as those you seek to condemn.

@MalteseFalconPunch Oh no? Well perhaps I misunderstood the posters intent with this comment:
And if thats your best, yeah no wonder you steal everyone elses
Seems to me she is claiming Orwell as her own, but perhaps that is not her intent.

Literature is art, and art is subjective.

Claiming Orwell only meant something that speaks to your political sensibilities is just as selfish and myopic as the conservatives you intend to defame with this post.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
People can't just claim an author as conservative or liberal. He was a writer who is clearly still relevant and his works still are read by many people of all political stripes.

Maybe rather ask why it upsets you to see him "claimed" by conservatives?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Thodsis Well for me, its nice to see Soros getting called out for his shit, the MSM certainly isn't going to do it. In fact, apparently they are strictly verboten to speak of him.

@MalteseFalconPunch More like "Eeyore" from Winnie the Poo is what my mind's eye pictures. 😆

It's supposed to be serious. They made that site because they thought Wikipedia was left-wing. Ya know, since with Wikipedia, you actually have to provide sources.
But sure, Orwell was both a Socialist and a Conservative. 😄
I know it sounds crazy, but some people have liberal views on some subjects and conservative views on others. Its not an either/or.
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy Bite your tongue ! 😄

@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy I teach at a college. I am liberal compared to the other members of my church and conservative compared to my colleagues at school. Judging from the national debates nowadays, I would classify myself as liberal, but I am sure I am not liberal enough for some people.
What does Orwell himself say??
[big] “Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it.”

— George Orwell[/big]
BTW, Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four were written in 1945 and 1949 respectively

It's fucking hilarious.

Video games 'increasingly promote the homosexual agenda'. 'Even ones exported to Russia'.

Thanks for this. I'll be giggling for a while.

@MalteseFalconPunch Honestly having read enough about this when I was young just seeing this kinda shit take over everything has been fascinating. Ideology like a wave that suffocates everything in its path.

I'm glad that people want to "claim" Orwell. Maybe they'll actually read him.

Communism is the cure for mindless service of capitalism.
The conservatives refuse the cure.
Whole generation of conformists that love George Carlin?🤷🏻‍♂️🤔
