I know it sounds crazy, but some people have liberal views on some subjects and conservative views on others. Its not an either/or.

@YourMomsSecretCrush I teach at a college. I am liberal compared to the other members of my church and conservative compared to my colleagues at school. Judging from the national debates nowadays, I would classify myself as liberal, but I am sure I am not liberal enough for some people.
