@Alison No, Orwell is a writer who appeals to many different political belief systems. You can't claim him as your own, otherwise you are just as ridiculous as those you seek to condemn.

Seems to me she is claiming Orwell as her own, but perhaps that is not her intent.
Literature is art, and art is subjective.
Claiming Orwell only meant something that speaks to your political sensibilities is just as selfish and myopic as the conservatives you intend to defame with this post.
