A man who can cook and do housework

Is it more difficult to cook or to do housework?
supersnipe · 61-69, M
I've been doing both all my life so here's what I think:

- Housework is time-consuming, sometimes tiring, can be boring but it is not difficult. To keep it tolerable I don't do too much at once!

- cooking is what you want it to be; it can be quite easy or quite difficult, depending on how far you want to go. Some quite nice things can be done with a few ingredients and not much time (Bruschetta, anyone?). On the other hand, following a Delia Smith recipe for fish pie took me ages. I only ever did it twice!

After 3 decades of cooking, patience is wearing thin on both.

Nowadays I make big batches and store in the fridge.

@scorpiolovedeep The slow cooker is a friend....🙂
scorpiolovedeep · 46-50, M
My best friend is the air fryer lol @whowasthatmaskedman

Both of those are double edged questions for same reason. That reason is, are you doing it just for you? Or for a family, (Basically other people) Cleaning up after a slob or kids is a pain. Where I clean as I go.. Cooking to the tastes or timing of others is likewise, much harder that doing for yourself..😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@HendricksLiu So true. Father was a chef and while he taught me virtually nothing about cooking, I took particular note how he maintained his tools and cleaned as he went.😷
HendricksLiu · 18-21, M
@whowasthatmaskedman In fact, I think a person's meal is the most difficult to cook, because you don't know what you want to eat. If you invite a friend to dinner or cook for a family, it's much easier.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@HendricksLiu Thats why god created the toasted ham & cheese sandwich..😷
WanderlustCat · 36-40, M
I suppose it depends. I love cooking so I look forward to it. Housework I do only cause nobody else will if I don’t.
FourthShadow · 31-35, M
I live alone so I cook and do housework, neither are that difficult.
If you never learned to cook then I guess housework would be the easiest.
But cooking is fairly simple if you know a few basics.
HendricksLiu · 18-21, M
@FourthShadow I'm proficient in both things, but I can't figure out which one I do better.
exexec · 61-69, C
Cooking is easier for me because I know when I have finished and whether it is good or bad. I never know if I have cleaned the house well enough. It is like a job that is never complete, even for the short term.
tfan123 · 46-50, M
I can’t cook, but I can scrub toilets, and vacuum and dust and etc. Last night I cleaned the trashcan thoroughly since tomorrow - now today is trash day and my wife thought I was nuts. I said to her - Everything can be cleaned.
Ontheroad · M
I don't find either difficult, but cleaning is something I can put off until tomorrow... or the day after, but cooking is a must and so, it gets done more often.
SilentObZerver · 22-25, M
Well it depends on the type of food i'm to cook.....but housework should be relatively easy for me bcos so far as i know what i have to do and how i will go about it
Cooking is definitely way more difficult

U can find a way and clean the house and get it clean

But cooking I feel is way more difficult
UsernameAlreadyInUse · 26-30, M
I live alone, both is easy alone but cleaning after cook is disaster it can takes hour therefore i dont cook anymore.
Sapio · 51-55, M
I'm on my own. I love to cook and I love a tidy place. I have to do what needs to be done and I enjoy it.
meJess · F
Both are basic skills, no one expects a chef or a perfectionist cleaner.
HendricksLiu · 18-21, M
@meJess But if give me enough money, both of them can become my job.
Torsten · 36-40, M
both are not difficult
Torsten · 36-40, M
@HendricksLiu not if you do it over and over again
HendricksLiu · 18-21, M
@Torsten I put the steak on the oven and did something else, and then I forgot about it.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@HendricksLiu if you having a barbeque, why are you putting steaks in a oven?
2ndtimeguy · 61-69, M
Not a cook can reheat and grill but know how to sweep and clean a toilet!!
Jimmy2016 · 61-69, M
🤔.........Housework is more difficult. Cooking is easy as the microwave does most of the cooking..........
tfan123 · 46-50, M
Anyone can clean. Cooking takes practice and timing and techniques
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
My husband has never done any of the house work
jackson55 · M
@smileylovesgaming Can be cook ?
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Both can be tiring.
I would say cooking takes a bit more skill.
They’re basic adult skills, they shouldn’t be hard.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
For me, housework. I LIKE to cook, I don't like cleaning up the house.
Mudkip · 31-35, M
I'd say cook since housework is pretty straightforward
Housework is the worst. Cooking is fun.
It depends on what you like and hate.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Depends on the tunes
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I think it depends on how many people are in the house. Living alone, housework tends to be easier and less time consuming.

Living with a family it inverts. The things you do to cook a meal scale better. Meal prep for five is less than twice as much work than meal prep for one.

Housework scales differently. Housework for five is like ten times the effort of housework for one for some reason. Especially when some of those five are children.
Azlotto · M
Cooking came naturally to me. Housework, not so much.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@Azlotto I'm surprised by the number of people who find cooking to be difficult. I'm guessing the problem is a lack of appreciation for low and slow these days. Everyone wants to set those burners to high.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Both are equally challenging for me
