By being a bit more zoologically accurate and considering that prawns are not shellfish but closer to woodlice, and shellfish are closer to snails......?

@ArishMell Escargot are amazing! Crustaceans are closely related to insects so lochnessmonster your post is not inaccurate.
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
@SW-User In the sense they are Arthropods yes.
Kind of us being related to Amphibians in that we are vertebrates.

@wonkywinky no it's closer to us being related to other mammals. Closer still to us being related to monkeys. Crustaceans and Insects are pretty closely related
Neman1622 · 41-45, M
I won't touch any of those things for exactly that reason! They are sea bugs, and that's disgusting to me. After all, what do they eat? The garbage in the sea!

@Neman1622 Yes,they are filter feeders that feed upon all the bits they can spoon out of the sea water. This will include micro particles of human waste from sewage outflows.Tasty....
SandWitch · 26-30, F
@Neman1622
For your information, human waste from city sewage treatment plants is spread like animal manure on farm fields, which then feeds crops, no different than animal waste is spread on fields as organic fertilizer.
And by the way, he wasn't talking about eating horses, he was talking about you eating crops from fields that were fertilized with horse crap. That was his question to you.

Dont eat them?
If you understand the relationships of the various animals you will probably not eat them.
They are not remotely "fish" despite the term "shellfish".
Prawns and crabs are Crustaceans-you know what else are crustaceans?Woodlice. So youre eating woodlice basically.
Things like mussles, cockles, then the Cephalopods octopus, squid etc are Molluscs. What else are Molluscs-Slugs and snails....Ewwwwwwww.

@OlderSometimesWiser a good solution to most problems
Ynotisay · M
Maybe just telling yourself that they're crustaceans and not insects, which is true, will help. Or maybe telling yourself that a lot of insects are just different forms of protein. Something that about 2 billion people eat daily.
InstructHer · 56-60, M
Woodlice really.
CBarson · 51-55
Shrimp are arthropods, as are insects, crabs, and many others.
If you are going to be a carnivore of sea life, do not deny what you are eating. Revel in the flavors, and honor the sea spirits for providing sustenance

Strongtea · 22-25, M
Yes, I totally get you on that. Every so often that thought gets into my head when I’m eating those things and it ruins it for me.
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
@Strongtea I eat fish.Thats it.I dont eat all the filter feeders and scavengers of waste products.
Wonder why people often develop stomach complaints after eating seafood?

@whowasthatmaskedman Oh man they look like lobster which I like but also look like the creature in Aliens. They really are bugs of the sea! Thanks for ruining shellfish more for me :P
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Makes you wonder how tasty that cockroach that ran across the floor in your kitchen last night is. 😉
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Thevy29 It does make you think about those spiders in the first BBQ of the season outside. Everyone gets a drumstick😷
SarahAndSamantha · 46-50, F

@lochnessmonster it’s all protein Papillon 🤓
HypnoChode · 46-50, M
The delicious insects of the sea. It’s weird, I agree, but I do love the taste.
Bowenw · 61-69, M
You may feel better about it if you get larger size ones and they are already cleaned.
redredred · M
Count the legs. Insects have only six, arachnids eight
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
You dont. Lobster are the roaches of the sea. Now enjoy..😷
Coldplay · 61-69, M
Well now this is what I will start thinking...lol lol
exexec · 61-69, C
I love shrimp, even if they are sea insects in somebody's mind. In fact, thanks for the suggestion. It's time for some shrimp Creole.
Similarname · 46-50, M
Are there a lot of prawns in Loch Ness?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Similarname LOL!
[Real answer: no. the loch is of fresh water. Crayfish perhaps, maybe freshwater shrimps which are all of about 12mm long..]

Houdini · 56-60, M
But why do you want to
Convivial · 26-30, F
Delicious arachnids 🤤
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Start eating land insects to get over the idea of eating bugs
bijouxbroussard · F
Basically, you are. You just file it among the facts you make peace with to be an omnivore.
Azlotto · M
Melted (drawn) butter works for me.
