Mild to medium most of the time

My kitchen doesn't have any ventilation, so I'm really careful not to use too much spice in my food. I got pets that are really sensitive to that. But before I moved here I was putting ghost pepper flakes in my food pretty regularly. I liked it a lot, but not enough to venture further than that spice-wise.

@LordShadowfire It sucks for the dog the most, because he's gotten used to me giving him scraps. But when I cook with spicy stuff he just stands at the far end of the kitchen suffering in anticipation

@TinyViolins I feel like the worst pet owner on earth right now. I cook with hot sauces (not as hot as I'd like because I have to tone it down for the parents), and I just never thought about it.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@LordShadowfire Oh don't sweat it. They're probably fine. My last dog used to having sneezing fits any time I cooked with spice and it still took me a while to realize she was reacting to the spice in the air. She still stood there like a sentry.
There's other areas this one can run off to if he wanted to. The cats are smart enough stay away from the kitchen until they hear the sounds of their own food.
Everyone has their own tolerance level. I guess that's why they say "if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen"

I’ve always enjoyed spicy food, but when I lost my sense of taste and smell with Covid, it kicked into overdrive. The only way I could get any sensation from eating was to hit everything with hot sauce and peppers. After a few weeks, my sense of taste slowly returned, but the only thing I could taste initially was the hot sauces and spices. Ever since, I punch most things up with heat and typically go for the spiciest curries and hottest wings I can get.

Depends on the food. Peanut Butter and Jelly not spicy at all. Chongqing Noodles need to be spicy. I found out that Pad Thai is supposed to be spicy and tastes best spicy. The sweet, salty and savory flavors come alive when it's spicy!
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@JonLosAngeles66 I know, right? I don't get people who want to try a particular dish that's known for being spicy, but they want to tone it down. Like, if you can't handle the spice, just don't eat it.
JonLosAngeles66 · M
@LordShadowfire yeah. It depends on the food. Some people like to put hot sauce on anything. I don't get that either. It's like putting salt on your food before you even take a bite.

Usually mildly spicy. I used to go with medium spicy, with chili and Szechuan chicken and so on, but that's a bit much for me now.

Not too spicy, but I do put Cajun seasoning on a lot of things like Italian dishes, vegies, and some soup.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Varies! Not averse to even some habanero however.
You won't find me putting anything hot in desserts. 😆

If I'm not bleeding from every hole, pores and eyes included, then it's not hot enough.
I like a Nandos medium spice.

Spicy enough to energize me but not so spicy that I get heartburn or lose sleep over it.

Very spicy 🥵

I like spicy. Enough to where I have the meat sweats but not enough to where my night is ruined.

Just a bit to enhance flavours and not to kill them.
