There is a variety call Kiwifruit Gold which has a relatively smooth skin and can be eaten. Not very tasty....almost bland. The original 'hairy one' needs peeling or just scoop the flesh out with a teaspoon.
So you are both right. 🥝🥝🥝

Agreed !! 😊@KiwiBird

Someone told me you can scrub them well and eat the peel, it is supposed to be a good source of fiber but would be too harsh for me.
Tres13 · 51-55, M
Kiwifruit vodka, straight out of freezer pour into glass,Cheers
BeefySenpie · M
Slice in half and scoop out with teaspoon. Save yourself the time of peeling
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@BeefySenpie It’s like eating it from a little cup.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
There is no accounting for taste. Yes the rinds are edible the texture is off putting for most people but the rinds are still edible. My cousin eats the entire apple leaving only the stem when he is done. My father used to eat the white part off a banana peel. I always left the apple core and seeds when I was done eating an apple and can't stand the inside of a banana peel but to each their own.

I normally lop the top off and dig in with a spork
GeniUs · 56-60, M
You can eat almost all of it but at one end (can't remember if it's top or bottom) there is a short pointed bit that will really hurt if you get it in the wrong part of your mouth. I recommend slicing around the ends and pulling out those bits and you will see what I was talking about.
It's about 3mm long and has a sharp tip.

I would always peel it first
Nanori · F
Wtf ppl cook them?!!
Elessar · 26-30, M
I went with one regular (not the thin peel) raw once, as part of a challenge, and it's doable but you have to chew a lot. Also the hairy texture isn't pleasant. But yes, technically you can.
@Elessar I usually slice the kiwi and eat the slices with the skin on. Fiber. I also use kiwi peeled as in a parfait
Scribbles · 36-40, F
you mean the really tough hairy kiwis or the smooth ones? I ate a hairy one once to prove a point. But I will not do it a second time. The texture was gross.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
You can eat the skin of a kiwi, you may get slight ‘tummy trouble’ but nothing major. I think (but don’t know for certain) that most of the vitamins are in the skin, outer flesh.
You bet! And it’s good… not only a bit tangy and sweet, the skin albeit fuzzy is a good source of fiber. And it goes well taste and presentation wise in a parfait!
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Sure you can eat it. The skin is a little fuzzy so it's repellent to some people but I don't really care so I can just go for the whole thing.
Caraxes · 41-45, M
I would never think to eat it like an apple without peeling it first. I love kiwi but no matter how I eat it I make a mess 🙈
SW-User
Yeah but why would you do that. The texture feels like hair 🌚
Definitely peel em.
Definitely peel em.
annamk · 26-30, F
@SW-User That's my thought. But apparently the skin is nutritious 🤷♀️
SW-User
@annamk Sometimes it's drenched with chemicals unless you know it's organic.
Fieldmaster · 46-50, M
I usually like to boil them for 5 mins over high heat and then let them cool for 5 before consuming..
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
I think you can but most people wouldN,t do that because of the furry texture, not a nice consistency.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Yes you can, my father sometimes does that and never had any problems.
My daughter eats it with tje peel on, just like an apple
Fluffybull · F
I peel them. I wouldn't dream of eating the skin 😱🤮
annamk · 26-30, F
@Fluffybull I actually tried it and it wasn't what I expected. Washed it first and it was fine, no worse than a peach.
Spoiledbrat · F
I've always peeled them.
Soldonmonday · 51-55, F
Kiwi fruit is great
MrAboo · 36-40, M
You can, but the hairs on the kiwi will irritate your mouth and especially your tongue. I eat few kiwis angmore because of the hairs.
Ontheroad · M
Sure you can, or at least I do and I know others that do too. Washing them removes the fuzzy stuff 😁
Please get 2 for friend coming Monday to have them both instead of routine meal. Keep knife handy.
Galanr40 · 61-69, M
Most people i know cut them in half and eat the inside with a spoon...
Delilah5 · F
Don't know. But I just bought some in a CAN....scared to open it.🥺😮
annamk · 26-30, F
Well I'd never heard of anyone doing it but seems I'm mistaken!
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
I've never tried, but the husk on a kiwi does not seem to be edible.
Northwest · M
I use my potato peeler. Never considered eating the skin.
GainerDrew · 26-30, M
Eh. Better just stick to donuts
annamk · 26-30, F
@GainerDrew I never actually have donuts (despite how it may appear) 😅
Cake, chocolate, chips and ice cream however... 😔😩

@annamk all good things! I can’t really have sweets much at all anymore, but I do miss them
BridgeOvertroubledWaters · 61-69, M
Yes you can , though I prefer to peel them first
WhateverWorks · 36-40
🤷🏻♀️ I eat it like an apple. I like the tart skin.
Well I know they go pretty good in parfaits
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
I eat them just like an apple, skin and everything
UnderLockDown · M
The skin is edible, just not palatable.
SW-User
I have never eaten kiwi fruit. 😐
maturedragon · 26-30, M
I always eat the skin of the kiwi
SW-User
I guess so but I wouldn't lol
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Don’t peel. The skin is full of fibre
AngelKrish · 26-30, M
First i peel off...then only i can eat it
Ynot1more · 46-50, M

TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
I don’t cook my fruit
Sara0406 · 26-30, F
I must peel it
SW-User
Yes, you can. The skin is a good source of fibre. It can irritate the mouth in a few cases but that won't happen for most people.
