For you coffee drinkers, do you have a brand that you really like? I drink Folgers and Maxwell House, sometimes Starbucks, but I'd like to try something new. Suggestions?
I usually drink Folgers but Kicking Horse is a good brand and it comes in different varieties. I bought 3 one- kilo bags at the discount store last week for $1 a bag, it usually sells for $32 EACH.
@cherokeepatti taxes are terrible here and in april they are raising the liquor tax to what is already taxed so high....the only thing not taxed here is lottery winnings (we would be taxed on the interest though) send me some lottery vibes please...i'll send you powerball vibes 🙏
I go to coffee shops other then Starbucks....their coffee tastes burned to me. The smaller, privately-owned coffee shops usually have good coffee. I prefer coffee from countries like Brazil, Costa Rica, Nicaragua or Italy. Brazil is my favorite. They will grind up the beans for you...just tell them what type coffee maker you use....like with a paper filter.
I've gone far into coffee nerd land so I'm on a subscription from local roasters that sends me a new bag of coffee every two weeks. Then I've got a special grinder and three different ways to make coffee depending on my mood lol.
@Ryannnnnn I couldn't justify the cost to get into espresso but if I ever find myself with a sack of cash handy I'll get a machine. That said a manual grinder capable of espresso is the best affordable way to go to get quality withoiut spending 800 pounds on something.
I have been using Juan Valdez for a few months. But it's one of the only instant blonde roasts I could find. But it's pretty good. I like it over Folgers. But I do like a good Maxwell as well. I just don't have a taste for medium and dark roasts. They taste burnt to me.
Depending on your taste. If you prefer a darker roast or more light stuff. I've been drinking one called Grizzly Claw from Kicking Horse Coffee. Pretty dark stuff. Good flavor.
I have yet to get a definitive answer from a doctor and I have asked 4 so far. ..lol. Some places I've read on the internet say that the increase in blood pressure is temporary. I don't think they really know for sure, doctors or the Internet lol. If you're on blood pressure medication daily and you have a blood pressure cuff you could always kind of experiment and take your readings? I've never wasted my time doing it and i never feel guilty about falling off the wagon LOL.. 😄 .. @DemureDeb
I am not a big fan of coffee shops. I prefer my own fresh ground a brewed coffee and espresso. In coffee, it is Costco brand, espresso, Wegmans. Both we buy as whole brand and grind just before brewing.
try one of those combination packs from Amazon and judge what you like best. if you add anything like sweetener or milk/cream, that will have an effect, too. good luck!
@DemureDeb they have them over a wide range of prices. I have a rather high end automatic one. It grinds, loads, automatically then pushed hot water under pressure through the grass NDS, dumps the grounds and starts all over again.
Vittario or Grinders when its on special. There is another but I forgot the name of. I don't think its a commercial brand yet, just something a local farmer has been trying to get going.
Mountain cabin from Melaluka. We have a coffee house in town that roasts beans from all over the world. They created one called African skies. Its really good.
@DemureDeb It might be regional. I know they're based out of Oklahoma. I used to work at a restaurant that served it and I just took a liking to it. It's nothing fancy, but a good flavor
Im not brand specific, during the week i drink a medium roast canned coffee but on my days off i switch to a bagged dark roast coffee for a stronger flavor. :)
@HannibalAteMeOut The first two are more mainstream; third and last idk if and how much they exist outside my region. Borbone should be pretty big too, at least nationally it is.
The absolute best quality wise is the one you get from small shops that will toast it for you on the spot, than any of these packaged/branded ones, but yeah it's less practical. You should also have a grinder in order to grind it immediately before brewing it, if you want to be a purist. Absolutely forget about capsules as well. in that case
Then of course the machine plays a major role as well. My €50 one from Lidl certainly won't brew coffee that could even remotely compete against the coffee brewed by machines that cost 20x as much, independently from the coffee/brand used. 😅
@Elessar yeah I've never had capsules. I just buy already grinded because I make it myself in the morning so no time to do anything else hahah but if I want a better one I will just go to a cafe bar.
Most of you know, when you buy coffee like folgers it is stale. It just does not taste good any more. I used to drink it until i went to our coffee shop (Just Love Coffee) and after having fresh roasted coffee i cant drink folgers any more.
Not a k-cups fan. We buy 2 kinds of beans - Lavazza or Marley for espresso + whatever flavoured coffee i’d be curious to try. This week I have a Bridgehead.
@DemureDeb I like to grind coffee that’s good for 2-3days max. And we usually need diff grinds from the same beans. It would depend if we will use the espresso machine, coffee machine or manual drip.
