Lab grown meat is perfectly fine and no worse for you than the trash you probably already eat. It is also going to drive down factory farms and improve the environment in the process (massive water pollution comes from industrial farms). Lab grown meat will also reduce rainforests being decimated for more livestock grazing.

Bill Gates is just one of many individuals, governments and organizations who've granted large sums of money to lab-grown meat companies. While Gates has indeed bought many acres of this country's farmland, he owns roughly 0.03% of them.
Anything that has the potential to lessen the suffering and slaughter of many millions of sentient beings daily, for human consumption, is great to me. Also, the negative impact the meat industry currently has on the environment, in many ways.

If you have a genuine objection to synthetic chemicals beung added to your food, you would do better to avoid meat altogether (or at least meat obtained anywhere other than the farm gate) and grow your own vegetables. Better for the environment and arguably better for your health as well 🙂

"Impossible" meats are based on soybeans + coconut oil. with small additions from other sources for flavor and texture. "Beyond" meat is based on a few peas and beans, again with small additions from other sources for texture and flavor. These other sources include bacteria modified to produce proteins similar to hemoglobin - this turns out to be a key flavor component of beef, and there are other flavor components manufactured similarly.
As long as the world has such a huge appetite for beef, I will consider vegetable based beef-like substitutes to be a good alternative in the marketplace.

@ElwoodBlues Some of those fake meats aren't the healthiest but at least they have no saturated fats. If people eat more plants and less meats it is key to make sure we eat plants with complete proteins, or combinations.

I'm not saying that to be generally mean and nasty, just I've seen how people can be if they don't recognize a direct connection to their own life being affected. Would you trust that the equipment was properly cleaned, every time? What if some yahoo doesn't pay attention to some small detail and the product makes it to market? Small details can have devastating results.
