@beckys501s Did you read my post on here on this topic
beckys501s · FVIP
@HumanEarth oh wow. I wonder if I could find that match on youtube
HumanEarth · F
@beckys501s I don't even remember when it was, I just remember it as a kid
rinkydinkydoink · M
My gramps told me Gorgeous George was the last honest-to-God real pro wrestler.
I believe it’s real. The Tooth Fairy told me that in the strictest confidence. 🤫
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
I use to wrestle for real in it school. 😆
Blondily · F
100% fake but I used to watch it with my dad
HumanEarth · F
Good memories
beckys501s · FVIP
I like to watch older matches, from the 80s, it seems less scripted in the ring
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@beckys501s Humorously enough, that was before Vince McMahon took over from his old man. He is not even 1/10 the promoter his father was.
beckys501s · FVIP
@LordShadowfire yeah wrestling changed then. I didn't know his dad owned it before
alongalone · M
They are like stuntmen or women and is a dangerous job if not a real sport
alongalone · M
Never watch
most would make pretty decent doing Stunt work
I wonder if Chyna would have ever considered a role as she hulk🤔

It's a real performance art, like any other form of acting.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@BohoBabe I feel like people who get hung up on whether it's fake or not are missing the point. I shut somebody up once who kept saying it was fake. We were watching some action movies, and every time he cheered at one of the stunts in the movie, I would yell "Fake!" 😆
BohoBabe · M
@LordShadowfire It really is a huge cognitive dissonance. People will watch comic book movies, which I also enjoy, but then they'll say wrestling is stupid because it's men in costumes having a staged fight. Bruh!
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@BohoBabe My friend Brian, who watched it with me enthusiastically, summed it up perfectly once. He said it was like a soap opera for guys. And that's exactly what it is. The silly plot lines, the rivalries, the costumes, all of it performed on stage by mediocre actors, for an audience consisting of people who just want to shut off their minds for a while.
TheSirfurryanimalWales · 61-69, M
Well choreographed acting...
Youwereexpectingajoke · 31-35, M
I watched it when I was younger. The storylines and acting are ridiculous and cartoonishly unrealistic, but the stunts are real and quite risky.

Pro wrestling like the Olympics or WWE? Neither really. Used to watch WWE back when I was younger. It was entertaining. The athletes are very good at what they do and it would make sense for it to be scripted in order to reduce the injuries they must suffer.
HumanEarth · F
They are still athletes and still have to be trained to fall, land and take hits the right way.
People had legs broken, necks messed up, back problems for life
Owen Hart died because of wrestling

I'm a grown man so no, I don't watch it.
faery · F
I have a few friends who do it for a living and it's definitely fake ah, though the steroids and working out are real. They also get real injuries, despite the 'fight' being choreographed and the outcome being predetermined.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@faery I think the scariest one to this day that I saw was when Steve Austin threw Rikishi off the top of the steel cage onto a truck bed. Granted, the truck bed was full of hay, but I still have no clue how they managed that without killing him.
faery · F
@LordShadowfire Sheer luck, I'm betting
DancesWithWolves · 56-60, M
I've been watching WWE Wrestling since 1978 and from what I hear it's scripted but wrestlers do get hurt. So I'm thinking some of it is real while some of it is fake I still believe wrestlers use razor blades to cut themselves to make it look like they're injured and bleeding but I could be wrong?

Pro wrestling is as real as the Trump Administration.

Watched it when I was kid, definitely fake

Nope. And I KNOW it's fake.
In 1989, Vince and Linda McMahon testified under oath to the New Jersey State Senate that professional wrestling was scripted "sports entertainment," not a legitimate sport. This legal maneuver aimed to deregulate the industry to avoid taxes and commission oversight. WWE (then WWF) broke the "kayfabe" code to reclassify wrestling as exhibition, changing industry standards.
And it's still true. During his 2016 invasion of privacy lawsuit against Gawker, Hulk Hogan ( real name Terry Bollea) testified under oath that professional wrestling is "entertainment" and not a competitive sport.

@ElwoodBlues What is hilarious is that some actual believe Trump wrestled Vince McMahon in 2007! 🤣
That is where Trump got his lying style. If you act like it's true, then it's true.

No, I don't watch it, I think it's dumb and boring.
On ethe second question, It's not a question of what I think at all, it's well-known established fact that it is fake (the term you're looking for is "kayfabe") ... I can't believe anyone in 2026 would still think it's real, but then I can't believe anyone would believe QAnon conspiracy theories, or anything Trump says, either, so that speaks to the state of the Murican populace.

Fake, at the Royal Rumble they come into the ring like a firecracker when their number is called, beating up everyone. Then one well timed kick to the nipple or armpit punch and they're moving like a lethargic old man for the remainder of the match.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
I used to watch it, from about 1997 to 2003. I always knew it was staged, or fake if you must, but the stunts were real. People really did get injured.
gregloa · 61-69, M
It’s real fake.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
no - don't watch it
it's para-real - they pull back - if they didn't there'd be dead bodies and quadraplegics everywhere.
