I wanted 172 kids. Luckily I chose the easiest option in the end with zero.

@Gingerbreadspice
I wanted 172 kids. Luckily I chose the easiest option in the end with zero.
According to a study, it costs a lot to raise a kid in today's America

"The company found that the average annual essential cost to raise a kid rose nearly 20% (19.3% nationally) between 2016 and 2021, the latest year for which complete data was available.

According to the study, Families are projected to spend $237,482 over 18 years to raise a child."

So, using today's figure of $237,482 over 18 years to raise a child, 172 kids would cost you $40,846,904. But, given inflation, you would be out a lot more money.

I never once regretted mine.
Musicman · 61-69, M
I would have liked to have had one, but it wasn't to be. ☹️
LilPrincess · 41-45, F
Im good with the 4 that I have.
LilPrincess · 41-45, F
@Musicman My 21 daughter suffers from seizures that they can't explain why. My son has high functioning autism and my oldest just got divorced and does a fantastic job being a single mom.

I love being a mana and a Nana. These kids are my world. I had my granddaughters over the weekend so my daughter could have a break. I have been a single mom for a long time so I know how hard life can be. I would trade my life with them for anything
Musicman · 61-69, M
@LilPrincess You sound like an awesome mother. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 I am sorry to hear about your daughter and your son. 💔😢 Are your grandkids healthy and happy?
LilPrincess · 41-45, F
@Musicman Thank ya. My granddaughters are doing good now. The youngest at 6 weeks developed RSV and had a collapsed lung but today she is very healthy. They are all very creative and funny each with their own personality.

I can barely get by with my day without totally screwing things up
The last thing I need is to screw things up for other people too
Ashly · 26-30, F
Yes 🥰
At least two but maximum 4 😅
I wanted a large family - but I am infertile... so that ain't happening
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@HootyTheNightOwl
I did tell him to divorce me several times - he refuses.
Since he is obviously unhappy it is unfair to you to remain in the situation where there is constant complaining about something you have no control over. But be very careful how you handle the situation because he may not be of sound mind and could lash out in anger and harm you.
@Diotrephes He does... that's why it's no longer safe for me to leave when he is awake or around.

Maybe having one kid but that totally depends on if I find someone. I don't see that happening anytime soon tho
SnailTeeth · 36-40
I don't envy the smell of baby shit, or screaming/crying.
It might give my life a sense of fulfillment, but that's a very big "might", and I don't think it's worth the monetary investment. That money could be better spent on cats. Cats needs good families.
I don't think we need more people before we have more housing. Not sure what your area's like, but good luck buying a house if you don't already own one.
MrsMONAKanful · 36-40, F
@SnailTeeth you will be very surprised how minimal the population will in the future if we don’t populate it now
saintsong · 41-45, F
4 kids later....I had my hands full!
Musicman · 61-69, M
@saintsong God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
I thought I did right before my hysterectomy, but that turned out to be untrue. I was just lamenting the inability to have children; I never actually wanted to have children and was never meant to be a mother.

whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Thats such a loaded question. If I had known how much pain, trouble and expense they were going to cause, probably not. However, would I sacrifice any of the pride, love and joy they brought into my life? Never...😷
Girlbehindthecurtain · 31-35, F
Yes,but to be clear i want a family with the right person.otherwise i'd have had kids by now
Oceanfire · 41-45, M
@Girlbehindthecurtain you mentioned recently you were seeing someone new. How's that going? Random question from a stranger 😄

@Girlbehindthecurtain ok. Well good luck, your sense of humour shows through in your posts. It's the best attribute a woman can have : )

I never wanted to and I never did. I had a miserable childhood and I didn't want to put anyone else through that. Life on planet Earth isn't really worth the suffering.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
I'm very thankful for my son.

Some of these comments are pathetic 😂

It's great that you have had a very good experience and are happy. However, as the news plainly shows, not everyone has good results. It may be the parents' fault or the kids' fault or maybe a combination of things that just go wrong. But in life everyone's experiences are different, and everyone has a different perspective that is constantly changing.

And just because you are very happy right now doesn't mean that it will last. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. So, enjoy the moment.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
I think that's a little late now. It been 9 kids later and 13 grandkids (so far)

I think I'm done and did my part

A difficult task but the most satisfying one indeed...

Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@eyeno I think the best age for a kid is two-years old.

@UnderLockDown Don' you think your life will seem empty as you get older? Who will you leave your stuff to when you die?
@Diotrephes This is going to fly like a lead balloon...
In order to have children you need to be involved with another person. That same person can destroy your life on a whim.
No thank you...

There are no guarantees in life, especially when it comes t interpersonal relationships. But, as people become older and more mature, chances are that their odds of having an enduring relationship improves. However, sometimes no matter what a person does it upsets and aggravates the significant other.

I'm skeptical that it's in the cards for me.
i would want to have more kids if i could be the dad.
PirateMonkeyCabinet · 36-40, M
No, not even remotely. Some people make great parents and that's fantastic, some make bad parents and should never have children. I belong in the latter group. There is no way I can provide what a child needs (not just in terms of the financial stability, but their general parental needs). Rather not subject a child to that just for the sake of it... there's too many kids already suffering from broken childhoods and whatnot.
