Maybe not insomnia but similar

Off and on for nearly four months, insomnia. Usually four to five days of the week it takes hours to sleep but maybe a day or two I sleep so well. It does not appear to be influenced by my activity level, time I go to sleep or eat and I never drink caffeinated beverages in the night. How do you find the best way to fall to sleep? Open to suggestions.

Warm up a cup of milk, add a good size teaspoon of real honey and a pinch of nutmeg and stir up the honey till it’s dissolved and drink it straight down. Also if you have time take a long soak in a hot bath with a couple handfuls of Epsom salts added after dinner and before you plan to go to sleep. It is very relaxing to your muscles.
@cherokeepatti Fresh ground nutmeg is a great narcoleptic.

@cherokeepatti Almost like old Tibetan recipe , they just boil garlic in milk.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Khenpal1 oh no not garlic. That would cause me gastric distress

I work assorted shifts so often wake up at odd hours. Stretching while laying in bed makes me yawn and can help me fall back to sleep

@meggie Thank you meggie. I am glad that helps you.

@meggie that's how doggies do it 🦮
It helps me to listen to youtube videos or audiobooks with smooth, soothing, or monotone voices.

Do yog and meditation and relax your mind and body....it will not easy in start to focus but soon your mind and muscle connection will get strong....
U will feel your body way more than u feel today.....and u will feel relaxed after every yog session.....
Other ways are also there like u get into high intensity training or walking every evening....and some other way🙃

Have you tried liquid melatonin drops? For me its the only thing that worked...

i started doing 4 drops under the tongue, the first day i didnt sleep it just made my eyes heavy, second day i slept 4 hours than 3rd day i slept like a baby. Try it and thank me later, also csrdio excercise to tire out the body doesnt hurt either

Have you tried listening to 'white noise'? I find it quiets my mind and allows me to fall asleep. For example, I especially like the sound of rain on the window.

Sometimes I put on audio or video of something calm that I’ve already read or seen, something to distract my mind. So that I can fall asleep. Otherwise, I use pretty strong edible cannabis just before bed

A vigorous workout works for me. Gotta be a little bit tired/worn out. Also, I don't take naps and keep moving throughout the day, constant motion whenever I can. Helps when it's time to sleep at night..

I get insomnia quite a lot. I won't put my head on my pillow until I feel I am about to drift off. Reading a Kindle book with no backlight helps me unwind just before I sleep.

@PhilDeep Thank you for sharing

I need both physical and mental tiredness to fall asleep. I go to the gym to workout until exhausted physically. I do homework or read a book until exhausted mentally.

I'm not quite sure about what you mean by 'in the night' re: caffeinated beverages, but I find they're best avoided from late afternoon onwards.

If you have a comfy couch watch low key television with your eyes closed.

Ironically true crime stories work great. They are very low key😴

Noticed I sleep much better by eating strawberries just before sleep.

BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
It could be external: traffic etc etc - try and eliminate all possibilities, what you have left, should be the problem
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
Are you eliminating what it could be, personal/work ... 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M
Is anything that's been suggested, working 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
BigGuy2 · 26-30, M

If your phone has a night mode, switch it on as soon as it gets dark, you're probably being affected by blue light, which can reset our circada rhythem, making it harder to get to sleep, and/or stay asleep.
