Do you regret not having children?

I often regret not having another after losing my son. But I wasn’t in shape to consider it for many years.
Twiglet · 41-45, F
@bijouxbroussard I’m sorry.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
I wish I had more children after my son passed away, but I was a basket case for a bit and then when I tried later I had back to back miscarriages. I wouldn't with the loss of a child on my worst enemy. It is something that you truly get over. My biggest regret in life is that I was not able to save my son and I don't have many other regrets in life.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
My parents were horrible people. I knew at an early age I never wanted to be married or have kids. And I haven't.
Twiglet · 41-45, F
@hunkalove I’m terribly sorry.
Paladin · 61-69, M
@hunkalove I didn't have a great childhood either. My step father kicked me out of the house when I was 15 because I inserted myself between him and my mother when he was going to hit her.
But I viewed my childhood as a learning tool of what not to do when raising children.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
Personally. I did once want to have kids. Not anymore. Don’t want my kids to be colorblind as me given this is genetic.
@Beatbox34 My father’s blue-green colorblind, but didn’t pass that on to any of us.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@bijouxbroussard It's a fear I have. Being treated as a defect during an employment. I didn't know my dad had it too until someone revealed it to me.

I mean. It's a fear I have. What if? I pass on. Idk. I'm just tired of so much as is.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
I don't think you need to have children to have children. Plenty of foster kids needs good homes.

I always thought about having kids, but ultimately it's the woman's decision so why would I limit myself over something I can't control? Hence, I'm not invested in the idea.

I think I'm still stuck on building the boat. I've learned how to sail, but now I need to just rebuild the boat.

I think all I want in this life is a quiet apartment, a couple cats, and comfortable chair to sit and think.
meggie · F
I didnt have a great childhood and decided I didnt want any.
Rambler · 61-69, M
I am father of one and wouldn't have missed that for anything
antonioioio · 70-79, M
At the age of 15 I was saying to my dad, how successful a certain man was with money properly
My Dad turned around and said
What good is to him, he hasn't a chick or a child to leave it to
I made up my mind to marry young and have kids
I've 3 kids and 3 gran children

@antonioioio that’s good teaching
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
I would have preferered to go straight to grandchildren. But as usual, my wife wanted to do things the hard way..😷
graphite · 61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Grandchildren - the victory lap for parents. Lots of parents these days will never get that victory lap.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@graphite True. And with time they can be weaponized to wreak revenge on your children..😷
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
I have two grown-up daughters, and one of them is a mother-of-four herself. I've been a grandmother for over ten years.
No. I was never meant to be a mother.
Lostpoet · M
@Colonelmustardseed Your health is improving though right?: I thought it was from your posts and you can always adopt later in life if you feel like you want to have kids.
@Lostpoet Some things are improving, but it’s still stage IV.
Adoption might be an option someday, but not any time soon. I’d have to be healthy, and I’d have to be absolutely certain that I’m emotionally and mentally healed enough to be a good mother. As of right now, I’d make a terrible one.
Lostpoet · M
@Colonelmustardseed I know you will be back to health and back to feeling like your old self.
GunFinger · F
I never regret it a single bit. They're my world.❤️
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
It haunts me every single day.
Almost every day I see the pain others experience for their children and thank my luck that I always wrapped up at the right time.
@OrionInTheNight and the pain the children themselves experience too.
@OrionInTheNight I think children just want to be loved and understood by their parents and sometimes parents don't understand their kids.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
I have four children and believe that having children is the best and most important thing anyone can do.
I have four....... not having any more. the world has enough of my DNA at present. LOL
DMmeyourtits · 26-30, M
Don't have any yet, but I feel like want to have some. The issue is I don't want to have them with the person I'm married to
@DMmeyourtits Start keeping a secret diary of the abuse, mental & physical. Note every date it happens and any pertinent details. A permanent record may help clarify your thinking, and may help your divorce case.
DMmeyourtits · 26-30, M
@ElwoodBlues I really should start that, I have the lousiest memory. Only bruises remind me sometimes what has happened, until they also fade away. Thank you for the suggestion
Twiglet · 41-45, F
@DMmeyourtits take photos.
Bleak · 36-40, F
Children are such a blessing..
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
These are my kids

Fluffybull · F
Nope. Never wanted them.
Morvoren · F
I didn’t have a choice.
come2gether · 46-50, M
I do at times, so I offset that by remembering all the amazing places I've traveled that I otherwise wouldn't have. Obviously that's not the same as successfully raising another human, but it's what I got.
BigImo · 26-30, F
Nope, it's not part of my plan for another five years. Always been my life plan to retire at 30 then have 10 kids by the time I'm 40
Paladin · 61-69, M
Never. They are the greatest treasure a parent could ever have.
I have 3 sons who are grown now.
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
I hope to have them before it's too late but we will have to see if they are in my cards🥺🤷‍♀️
Selah ·
No. None of the circumstances of my life were conductive to being a mom.
Lostpoet · M
Yes, I regret a lot of things in my life and I just want to say. 😩It wasn't my fault
Jessmari · 41-45
Not at all. I'm not cut out to be a parent.
I have 4 and 5 grand kids. Love being with them
We have two and we adore them!
Tahitiangrandma · 61-69, F
I regret not having more
AndysAttic · 56-60, M
I have had three, so no.
graphite · 61-69, M
I used to work in a nursing home. Seemed like most of the people in there were childless. As you get older and deteriorate and become an elder orphan, your chances of nursing home residency increases.
I can still have children but so far, no. I doubt this will ever change as I have an extensive list as to why I don’t want them despite my love for children.
Should take the word 'not' out and ask the same question.

To each their own. I'm happy with the decisions I've made child wise
Twiglet · 41-45, F
@Justafantasy that’s a good question.
No. I would have liked to have had kids with a stable partner but I'm glad I didn't since the partner was not stable
WandererTony · 56-60, M
I regret not having more. My single child is lonely I feel. But it was late by the time I overcame my financial hardships.
Piper · 61-69, F
I think about how different my life would have been, sometimes, if I had. No, I very rarely have regret about my choice not to.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
No. The milestone of creating a family is out of reach for me at this time. My life has been destroyed so i have to go another route.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
I have four.
And three of them are the almost only reason I can´t fully regret my first marriage, what I would do otherwise.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
no kids here. Did not regret it. Planned to not have them in my late 20's . Just was not interested. Cool question
smiler2012 · 61-69
@Twiglet sometimes i do but coming into this world i am sort of glad in a sense with what goes on
SUPERVlXEN · F
I have children 🤷🏼‍♀️
SUPERVlXEN · F
@Twiglet
I'm not going to disclose in public.
Twiglet · 41-45, F
@SUPERVlXEN i apologise for asking openly.
SUPERVlXEN · F
@Twiglet
It's okay, I know how to respond 😌
I had one. Sometimes I wish I had more but sometimes I'm glad I didn't.

Sometimes I do, it would be nice to have a child to learn from me
