What's the dumbest way that you've injured yourself?

When I was 13 years old in the early summer of '91, I twisted my ankle by jumping off the front steps of our house. My brother had injured himself the same way a few years earlier, so apparently I didn't learn.

Never has happened to me.The closest is when I was walking barefoot outside and accidentally walked through some broken glass.I just felt the glass break and crunch under my feet and then my friend told me I had walked through broken glass.Because my feet are very tough with thick hard skin i received no injuries at all.I just brushed off my soles with my hand and kept on walking.

we were out in the sand pits shooting .22's at anything we could find. cans, bottles, that kind of thing. we found a bunch of bowling bells someone dumped, I took dead aim from about 30 or 40 feet away and plugged one as dead center as you can get. I saw the slug as it returned right back at me, couldn't do anything about it but I knew what was happening! Shot myself right in the chest, didn't break the skin, left a good sized welt, I kept the slug got it around here some where. Learned not to shoot bowling balls!

@GerOttman That's one way to learn.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@LordShadowfire I learned my scope was zeroed in!

I was in junior high in the girls locker room when one of my friends took my gym shirt and threw it on top of the lockers. I had to climb up and get it. I was laughing at my friends while my left hand was hanging in an open locker and a girl was running around slamming open lockers. Needless to say, i almost lost my left ring finger. She slammed the door all the way closed and it almost cut my finger off. I still have the scar to this day. Tendons had to be reattached and all. I got detention for it!! 😬

my arm went to sleep while I was in bed rolled over and my dead weight arm hit me in the nuts!!

I was at a party, and wanted to go outside. We had come in the side door, so I didn't know that the house was under construction and the stairs were being replaced, so there was just a hike in the ground. Anyway, as I stepped outside I turned around, probably to see where some girl was, and stepped out onto... Nothing. I basically fell out of the house, lol. Lucky I wasn't hurt worse than a badly sprained wrist and a cut to my head.

During a game of 'Storm the Lantern' I was changing clothes in the dark to make it hard for them to spot me, fell down the creek and broke my arm. I was 13 I think.

I was 18 when I jumped off the back of a train when I realized I hitched a ride on the wrong one. That was a trip to the hospital I didn't need.

I was 7 when my brother found Dad's gun and didn't run for it. He shot me in the foot.

punched a solid steel gun safe and broke my hand

Not dumb ways, just regular activities like stretching when I wake up. I felt a pop, and my shoulder was injured for two-years, and I still have to be careful with it. Then reaching for something a couple of months ago, injured the same side, but my upper back. That’s better now, but that side does seem to cause me problems.
ReneeT · 61-69, M
I put my hand through a glass door when I was seven.
ALL my falls had been of the highest quality. 💪

When I was maybe 6, I held on to a dogs leash, and he started running, so I got dragged after the dog all the was down the road.. My body was done after that🙃
SW-User
@NotJamieM I looked pretty dumb flying down that road😂
NotJamieM · 46-50, M
@SW-User I bet. I saw a guy get dragged by a tow rope at a ski place once when I was trying to learn, so I can picture that lol. At least I'm pretty sure no one saw me go down in mine lol. They just saw me dirty later on
@SW-User Like something out of a cartoon 😂.

Is there a smart way?

When I was 17 in the summer of 1977, I climbed up onto the roof of a baseball dugout, maybe 12-13 feet high, to smoke a joint with a couple of friends. When we were done - and nicely stoned - we all jumped back down and I fractured my left foot.

Somehow lost my balance last Sunday while cycling mid-low speed on a straight road, on normal asphalt and with no reasons whatsoever for falling.

Only some bruises, but still, it must've looked dumb af
Repete · 61-69, M
Falling on purpose just to let someone catch me. I was 13-14 we were playing tag and I could outrun about everyone back then. I cut my leg , had stitches and still have the scar. A broken bottle.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Many scars from stupid shit
Punching in a glass window
Tripping while trying to jump over hedges
Walking through a cemetery (dog attack).
Etc. Lol
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AthrillatheHunt I have to change mine. I just remembered one.
I bruised both sides of my body and gave myself a hell of a concussion sledding. I feel like most Midwesterners have a "how I almost died" sledding story though....

I was on vacation in January 2020 and I tripped and broke my ankle then walked on it broken for 2 weeks.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@LordShadowfire I slipped on some wet ceramic tile. I am a klutz lol.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@iamonfire696 No, I mean how did you walk on it for 2 weeks?
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@LordShadowfire I limped on it for 2 weeks. When I flew home both of my feet swelled from sitting for 6 hours. Went to the doctor and he did bloodwork to make sure the swelling wasn’t serious. I kept telling him my left ankle really hurt but he wouldn’t X-ray it. Finally on the 4th visit 10 days after the fracture he could see it was swollen because my right ankle wasn’t. He ordered and X-ray and then was away for the weekend. I saw him at the hospital where I work on Monday and he saw me limping and didn’t say anything. He called me at 5pm that day to tell me it was broken and I needed a walking boot for 6 weeks. My tolerance for pain is pretty high. People were astounded that I walked on it that whole time 😂.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
I'm afraid I'm going to have to change mine. I punched a metal wall once.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
I was about 10 years old, riding my bike in my neighborhood, and an airplane flew really low overhead. I stopped pedaling, and just looked up at the plane for I don't know how long. Didn't put my feet down, or anything. Sure enough, I fell over.
empanadas · 31-35, M
I was "friends" with people who later tried to kill me
