Indoctrination that has been repeated throughout many centuries. Non believers are a threat to the religion because it might convince more people to stop believing in god.

And since religion doesn't have a lot of logic, math or otherwise observable circumstances supporting their belief, it is better to discredit than to counter-argue. It's a business strategy. It's a clever one from their standpoint if the goal is to keep as many people believing as possible
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@FacePaint "You don't think". The rest of what you said was superfluous.
FacePaint · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 Now you're being mean to me. That makes me sad.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@FacePaint When you start to think get back to me. You are simply reciting what you have been told and emotionally agree with. No point in trying to logically change a person's perspective if they didn't reach that conclusion logically.

Harriet03 · 41-45, F
One of the biggest problems is it states in their book, there will be a "judgement day"!
They can't help reminding people of that. 🤷‍♀️
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Bushmanoz So you don't like to be confronted either. Here is a hint the original poster can block me any time he or she wants. It won't bother me a bit as it simply confirms what I already suspected. The poster isn't very tolerant of contrary opinions.
JBird · F
@hippyjoe1955 speak for yourself. You are the one, I mean, only one started the fire. If you are so tolerant, why do you bother banter your hatred on non believers here?
Bushmanoz · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 Why not act your age and respect her wishes. You are wrong on your assessment of me though, I am happy to be confronted, more than you know
goliathtree · 56-60, M
As a believer, I do not feel threatened by non believers. To each their own. However, one thing that I have noticed, especially on here, is the need for non believers to criticize or attempt to ridicule those who believe. One of the main reasons I rarely respond to posts that involve religion.
FacePaint · 36-40
@goliathtree I don't understand why we just can't leave each other be if we disagree so fundamentally.
JBird · F
@goliathtree I have seen posts on here by believers that criticize non believers too. Nobody is truly innocent but it's mostly non believers who are seen as criminals by believers
goliathtree · 56-60, M
@JBird I disagree. But then we all see things from our own perspective.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
I am not threatened at all. Most atheists are the butt of jokes but not something to be feared. They are the losers in any discussion.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@kodiac Of course you are. You just aren't honest enough to admit it.

I think that those who are confident in their beliefs don't feel threatened by anyone who doesn't share that belief. Those that aren't confident maybe need to be asking themselves some questions rather than taking it out on others. I guess some people get angry when they are going through a process of change.
SW-User
They sometimes believe they'll fail with God, if they don't save you.
My son is an atheist, he's a grown person able to make up his own mind.
Don't love him any less, and don't think any less of him, and don't try to push my beliefs down his throat
He has a couple Christian friends.
Bushmanoz · 56-60, M
@SW-User No worries, I wasn't intending to be rude or insulting.
SW-User
@Bushmanoz I wasn't anticipating rudeness, just might not be able to give a good anwser.
Bushmanoz · 56-60, M
@SW-User No it is ok. I thought with an Atheist son you might be able to answer. I don't quite understand the concept of how heaven will work for people who have family who won't be going to heaven. The way I understood it there was no sadness in heaven, but how could you be happy knowing someone you loved was not there. It's probably something explained in the bible, and probably time I went to bed, have a great day/night
Success · 26-30, F
It's the fear of discovering that they're being unreasonable. And they surely are.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 31-35, F
The believers know they will be challenged by non believers to offer up actual evidence. This is a major issue as there is no evidence anywhere on the planet.
TexChik · F
@tallpowerhouseblonde yep ... I have issue with one
Carazaa · F
@tallpowerhouseblonde What? I have given plenty evidence in my posts.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 31-35, F
@Carazaa No you have not.Tell me of an archeological dig that has found the remains of Jesus,or any disciple.Any bible quote is not evidence.Physically existing evidence is proof and nothing less.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
I don't think believers think non belivers are bad. Everybody sins...
JBird · F
@hippyjoe1955 Judas hanged himself and then jumped out to cliff? 😅😅 I mean scientific errors. Starting with creation of universe and the judgement day.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@JBird He chose a tree that was on the side of a cliff. He hanged himself but the branch broke and he fell down the cliff.
GoldenWorm · 51-55, M
@hippyjoe1955 #justso.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Most theists are afraid the Atheist will convince them and they would be lost
JBird · F
@MasterLee I don't certainly don't want Christians to lose faith by force
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@JBird no one can force anyone to come to grips with reality
gregloa · 61-69, M
Why do non believers feel threatened by Christians? Christians aren’t taught anything of the kind. Christians absolutely don’t treat you all like murderers and rapists. Notice I didn’t say believers. Just because you believe doesn’t make you a Christian.
SW-User
@JBird We we are all wrong doesrs aren't we? So that's abuserd to assign that only to atheists.
JBird · F
@SW-User we are wrong doers when we do something wrong knowingly. But some Christians automatically assign atheists or even agnostics as wrong doers.
SW-User
@JBird I have never met such people,honestly.
Accept on here and I blocked both.
I met pushy Christians, but they really believed they need to save me from hell and must convert others or God will be angry with them.
It's misguided at best.
I do see a lot of unbelievers on here ridiculing anything religious and mocking people on questions and replies not directed towards them.
One lady use to bait people on here by asking questions she knew Christians would disagree with, stating she really wanted to know why they disagreed.
Then mocking them
I find that rather childish.

Its not easy to be the odd one out in a group.. So it may be a good idea to withdraw or have some flags ..

The problem with Believers are that they have problems in rationalising and learning. But they are so afraid that they seek ratification quite often since they don't want the non-believer to achieve something that they can't.. So they constantly debase and demoralize the nonbelievers..
JBird · F
@goliathtree and you think your opinion is above the others. Looking at your comments, it seems you're trying to defend yourself.
in10RjFox · M
@goliathtree this is exactly what @Jbird is trying to convey through her question. Nobody asked if you are a beleiver or nonbeliever... but you yourself butted in since you are a beleiver feeling a threat from others and now lamenting your uncalled for defence.. and attack by trying to debase and belittle, but unable to make a point.

So you have proved that you just can't resist others talking about you beleivers..
JBird · F
@goliathtree exactly what he says. I don't care what you believe in as long as you don't use it against people.
SW-User
Yeah I think a lot of the time people still conflate being areligious with being amoral. I don't know why though.
GoodoldBob · 61-69, M
I just feel a little sorry for them because they do not understand what they are missing. Never threatened. If anything it has been the other way around - somehow my faith has been threatening to some atheists I have known.
Bushmanoz · 56-60, M
@GoodoldBob lol you just gave her a perfect example
JBird · F
@GoodoldBob I need to visit a shrink because my mental health is threatened by Christians just like you did now? 🙄 I just hate being right sometimes.
Carazaa · F
Christians are the most persecuted, and murdered of all faiths daily around the world.@GoodoldBob
I definitely understand. When I left the church I lost a lot of people I’d thought were friends. I’ve been hesitant to let pious people get too close ever since.
danawilliams2004 · 18-21, F
No real church teaches that non religious people are just bad. That would be horrible because then how could they be saved? Don't hang out with fake Christians and you won't have that issue.
Carazaa · F
@danawilliams2004 I agree! We need to show love!

Non-believers tend to challenge their beliefs with science, and logic.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@chrisCA Non believers don't know science or logic. Science and logic are on the side of Believers. Non believers are too often in the cult of scientism.
Carazaa · F
No one is worse than anyone else. I don't think you are bad. So sorry if I made you feel that!
Maximusmax · M
maybe because neither person feels secure in their belief
SW-User
They're believers too.Just of something else.
Naturally they want believers to believe what they want.Anything else is a threat.
Same with the other way.
Safety in numbers I suppose so it helps them feel more secure or correct.
JBird · F
@SW-User I don't feel threatened by religious people. I just want everyone to co-operate but that seems like out of the question
SW-User
@JBird Sadly people will always fight or disagree so long as we can think for ourselves and have free will with the benefit of being individually unique.
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
In my own experience I’ve witnessed hate from religious people to those that don’t believe. I’ve also seen hate from non religious people to anyone that does believe. For some reason humans largely seem to be obsessed with others agreeing with their views whatever they may be. So to have people say plainly they don’t think the same way it can stir a frustration in some people. Some members of my family are religious. They’re good people & love me very much. They think I’ll burn in Hell not because I’ve done anything to hurt others but simply because that’s how it works in their beliefs. It crushes them to think I won’t be with them in their version of an afterlife. My cousin she is honestly the model of what I think a religious person ought to be for the most part. She truly practices what she preaches. She’s strong, smart, kind, generous, good natured. If more people religious or not behaved like her this world would be better for it. When it comes to others perceptions you can’t truly change them unless they’re open to it. We have to be ourselves & maybe many people will like us for who we are but not everyone will.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
I don't. I used to be a non believer (I'm not a Christian though). I hate edgy new atheists that misrepresent religious arguments and attack anyone religious though. Often they also assume religion just means Abrahamic religion. Arguing the Christian concept of God with a Hindu or Jain is ridiculous.

@Ewitsu no one asks you to stop believing as what atheists expect from you. All I ask is cooperation, is that too much?
