Why do believers feel threatened by non believers?

This is not a discussion on religion vs atheism or a hate post. I don't have hate for them but they're actually taught that non religious people are just bad. They just treat us same or even worse than they do for murderers and rapists. I am struggling so bad because I am surrounded by Christians and it's hard to make them understand just because I lack faith doesn't mean I am a bad person.

They're believers too.Just of something else.
Naturally they want believers to believe what they want.Anything else is a threat.
Same with the other way.
Safety in numbers I suppose so it helps them feel more secure or correct.

@SW-User I don't feel threatened by religious people. I just want everyone to co-operate but that seems like out of the question

@JBird Sadly people will always fight or disagree so long as we can think for ourselves and have free will with the benefit of being individually unique.
