Why do believers feel threatened by non believers?

This is not a discussion on religion vs atheism or a hate post. I don't have hate for them but they're actually taught that non religious people are just bad. They just treat us same or even worse than they do for murderers and rapists. I am struggling so bad because I am surrounded by Christians and it's hard to make them understand just because I lack faith doesn't mean I am a bad person.

Indoctrination that has been repeated throughout many centuries. Non believers are a threat to the religion because it might convince more people to stop believing in god.

And since religion doesn't have a lot of logic, math or otherwise observable circumstances supporting their belief, it is better to discredit than to counter-argue. It's a business strategy. It's a clever one from their standpoint if the goal is to keep as many people believing as possible

@Lucia You mean like the cult of scientism and its public education monopoly? You are a victim of it and aren't bright enough to realize it.

@hippyjoe1955 On countless occassions you have been demeaning, arrogant and completely and utterly unwilling to respond to even the simplest of questions that could help forward dialogue regarding this topic.

You have a narrow minded approach to this topic and will not for even a single second consider the notion that your version of the truth could be off for as much as an inch, and as such always counter sound questions, logic and science with other questions rather than answers.

As such I have, as I thought you understood the last time we discussed something in this area, decided not to discuss this topic with you. Or likely any other topic. You are free to send as many replies as you will - and I know that you will conlude on this basis that you are right, and I am wrong - just as you would otherwise regardless of the direction of the discussion. But I'm not going to humor your demeaning bullshit referring to people as cultists on the basis that they have no belief in things, concepts or dieties that cannot be seen, measured, heard or proven.

@Lucia Casting pearls before swine is a useless enterprise. If you were honestly seeking I would respond. As it is you simply want to make fun. Too late you are the joke here not me.

@hippyjoe1955 If you didn't get it now. You never will.

I wish you happiness and safety in your onward journey in life.

@Lucia I got it long time ago. You are not serious. Run along dearie you aren't up to the game. If you want to seek the Truth let me know. Until then have a nice flame out.

@hippyjoe1955 A very "nice" response to some one trying to end the dialogue on a polite note.

Your version of good behaviour is no where to be found in my Holy Bible.

@FacePaint Which you never read. Too Funny!!!

@hippyjoe1955 I did. Mandatory in school here.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@FacePaint Mandatory scientism here. Christianity/islam/hindu etc all banned.
FacePaint · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 Well that should be a good thing for you. You already know all of the bible?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@FacePaint I read it on a regular basis. I read it cover to cover once a year and have done so for about 30 years. I learn something new every time I read it. It is a bit like an onion. Layers on layer one layers..... I think a lot of it remains hidden until you have the Spiritual maturity to understand it. It is a Spiritual book and not something to be understood with your fleshly mind. That is why so many atheists misquote it.

@hippyjoe1955 But there's something I don't understand in your messages. When I went to school my teacher in religion who was a doctor of theology and a pastor - I was taught by him to never be angry with, or have ill intentions towards people of other religions - or non-religions. And in the face of anger, to turn the other cheek as jesus has taught us.

You can show them, the non-believers, the way you think is right, but they must tread it themselves.

He also taught us that scientific advancement is not a counter to religion. It is a way to observe the beauty of the world that god has created and regardless of how much you measure, discover and think you learn - that this is all part of gods creation. And that all living beings, conceps and observations are made for us by god.

I believe he used Corinthians 2:9 to support this view. That no ear has ever heard the beauty that god has for those who love him. No matter how much you study in any one field, you will never understand all. For the enlightenment is divine and belongs to god.

I think your posts are contrary to this perspective, no?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@FacePaint I follow Jesus not the liberal knitwits who went to school and earned their doctorates in liberalism. Jesus called people nasty names. Jesus got angry and chased people with a whip. He was a tough as nails and didn't back down from anyone.
FacePaint · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 I don't think we have to continue the discussion :) I don't have a lot to add. It being many years ago, I don't remember where he studied. But he certainly was no science teacher or liberal arts teacher. But he was a peaceful mind and a man of his word, who showed dignity and patience where no other could. I respected it. And I still do.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@FacePaint "You don't think". The rest of what you said was superfluous.
FacePaint · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 Now you're being mean to me. That makes me sad.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@FacePaint When you start to think get back to me. You are simply reciting what you have been told and emotionally agree with. No point in trying to logically change a person's perspective if they didn't reach that conclusion logically.
