I went to college and that enabled me to take a different path in life.
Picklebobble2 · 61-69, M
I did but not until i was in my 40's.

Funded it myself working as i went along with various grants here and there which I qualified for as a mature student along with savings i had.

Couldn't have afforded it otherwise.

I found i had to sit several units across 3 or 4 different colleges.
And i certainly covered some mileage doing it.

DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
A.S. in computer science/mathematics over many years and different colleges even when I was in the military. That was when the military didn't have the G.I. bill either.

It was harder that way, yet I really didn't have the money to continue after that. It was get a job or waste what little education I had.
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
Vocational college
Graduated 21 years ago.
This day 19yrs ago, graduated my post-grad.
@0uijaFinger nice... 2004 for me
justbob · 61-69, M
Bachelor's degree Marketing with Economics minor
swirlie · 31-35, F
@justbob
How did you use that Degree?
justbob · 61-69, M
@swirlie I worked in outside sales for a few years, but I didn't like it that well and eventually became a CPA. It pays better and its less stressful.

The classroom / book learning aspects of a thing are sometimes different from the actual work environment and that was the case for me.
I have a BS Mechanical Engineering but working on a second BS in Electrical Engineering while I work full time.

I didn't want to jump straight to a MS Electrical Engineering because I was scared I would just flunk out because it would be too hard.

I feel like I am the only person who has felt like going to college has been a gold mine.
@Magicianzini I am totally obsessed with my career so I have alot to say as you can see. I mean we are talking about my entire life during the day most of the week so...
@unsociableAnthony I see. And how long ago did you graduate with the BSME?
@Magicianzini it was about 8 years ago, 2018
Kiesel · 56-60, M

BluntSm0ker · 100+, M
Community college.
Mindful · 56-60, F
Yes, but I struggled all the way thru...my parents didn't speak English and I had a lot of catching up with vocabulary and thus comprehension .... I did graduate. Unfortunately I have an average intellect and now that I'm aging I feel even slower. I have been blessed/very lucky to have made it to where I am today....just surviving on a teacher's salary. TMI?
hunkalove · 70-79, M
I hated every moment I ever spent in a classroom. And I'm a college grad.
swirlie · 31-35, F
@hunkalove
Is it the education system you don't respect, or having to sit in a classroom all day while someone teaches you something that you don't know that causes you feel disrespect for school?
hunkalove · 70-79, M
@swirlie I never learned anything in a classroom. Most of the teachers I had were just there to get a paycheck. And most of what they taught was worthless. Like Algebra. School is mostly just training to get up early every morning and go to a job you hate for 30 years so you can buy tons of crap no one needs.
swirlie · 31-35, F
@hunkalove
Instead of going to school, what do you think you should have done if you had it to do over again?
no money in degrees with no employment prospects.

museum curators are really in demand..

*arts degree*
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
I enrolled in college at 17 with plans to become a political science professor but dropped out a few months later. I finally graduated from college 35 years later and have been a, for the most part. middle school teacher for the last twenty years.
Captainjackass · 31-35, M
Im currently in it. I spent most my 20s being miserable and sacrificing myself because others couldn’t be responsible.
swirlie · 31-35, F
I attended university then took a different path. Wish I'd taken the different path first.
thepeculiarpanda · 36-40, M
I attempted to go a few times. Dropped out each time for different reasons.
