If you wore cloth masks during the pandemic, what did you eventually do with them ?

Have you thrown them away ?

I have several, and have not thrown them away. I still wear one sometimes, in certain places. Plus, I have little doubt that there will another if not pandemic...than another more 'localized' virus that could be life-threatening for some. That does seem to be going on now, actually, especially with respiratory viruses.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
I've thrown the blue cloth ones, but have a box of the more substantial ones demanded by Germany for traveling there. When I have had a severe cold or cough, I wear one in the shops or on the bus out of courtesy. I am pretty certain that I have 'enjoyed' a virus spread by others who have spluttered their way around the fridges in the supermarket.
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
Mine is in the center counsel of my car. If I am feeling ill, I will wear it when I go to the store to hopefully reduce spread. Even if it's just a common cold.
@ViciDraco Lol…… definitely not a grammar Nazi but “center counsel of my cat” cracked me up. 🐈 😅
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
@OlderSometimesWiser phone swiping while tired for the win. Also, this thing gets worse and worse at figuring out what I want with time, I swear
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@ViciDraco You are awesome. I wear mine in public often. I've been around crowds many many times indoors and it helps me not become sick. There's so many walking in stores coughing out and no mask. Thanks for being kind.
Elisbch · M
I still have mine. 🤷 .. although I use kn95's now all the time. I need to wear them for health complications. The cloth ones were my first though.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
I still wear them. I like not being ill....I used to get sick before the pandemic so much as a teacher so I liked masks more than most lol. I wear it too because my sister is really high risk for any severe virus
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
They are all in a little drawer in the cabinet I picked up at the antique store.

I have cloth and the other kinds.

I pulled some out recently to keep myself from getting the stomach flu while caring for my sick youngest child.

Wore it to work one day cause people been getting sick with flu or maybe covid even.

It was VERY odd opening that drawer again.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
No, I still use them on public transport, visiting hospital, etc, in the winter. It's just common courtesy.
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
I threw some of them away (they do get worn down over time), but I still have some that I'll use for traveling (airports & planes, etc.).
fun4us2b · M
I used gators a lot - and they have come in handy this week since it was so cold!!

I still have a big box of masks...saving them for the next apocalypse....
Anniedlr · 26-30, F
I only wore the disposable ones and still have a couple of box’s left in case they are needed in the future.🙂🐼🥢
ArishMell · 70-79, M
I used the disposable ones but do have a cloth one that can be washed.
acupaday · 46-50, F
Still have my cloth ones hanging up by my keys. Haven’t touched them in years honestly. But I have the bad boy, N95, in my purse in case public becomes extra groddy that particular day.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Disposable ones were cheaper and easier to take with me. I still have some in case I get the sniffles.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I had a few, but I stopped wearing them when I learned they were not very effective. They're tucked away somewhere or other!
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@DrWatson I believe they work pretty well. I wear mine in crowded stores, people always coughing and I have not been ill in a long while
@DrWatson I was cleaning up and hadn’t realized just how many I had. I had a few masks before the pandemic for air quality concerns (with the wildfires from the southern and northern areas). In retrospect, I hadn’t really needed to buy any more. My best friend also made me a few.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Coralmist They probably work fine for that purpose. But during Covid we were warned that cloth masks were not good enough to rely on.
craig7 · 70-79, M
The ones that I wore were thrown out.I have several never-used masks that I keep on hand, just in case they are needed in future, for any reason.
SJones48 · 41-45, M
I’m keeping some because a friend from church made those and I want to keep them
@SJones48 I’m keeping some that were made by my best friend, for the same reason. 😊
exexec · 70-79, C
I wore one today for a visit to the hospital.
@exexec I keep one on hand when I have doctors appts, too. Some places still require them; others don’t.
exexec · 70-79, C
@bijouxbroussard Same here.
My favorite blue one has been in the back pocket of my wheelchair since 2023.
OverTheHill · 61-69, M
We pitched out the cloth ones. I have he!d on to a small box of F95 masks though.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
Nope
Still have mine. Comes in useful when I have to dust or vacuum.
@basilfawlty89 That’s a good point. I had cloth masks before the pandemic because of air quality issues when there have been wildfires south or north of the Bay Area.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard indeed! In my case, I easily get sinus infection, been that way since a kid. Mask means no stuffy nose all night.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Hmm I don't know where they are now to be honest. I think I wiped my mind of them lol
scorpiolovedeep · 51-55, M
I found it the other day....in one of the drawers.
seaglass · F
I kept two someone else made for me, but the ones I made were awful looking and feeling, so I tossed them.
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
I still have mine in my closet, because you never know what could happen.
@SubstantialKick That is true. I don’t think anyone would’ve imagined how things would go in 2020.
bowman81 · M
I have one gathering dust and maybe mold in the console of my truck. I put another few in my toolbox in the basement to use as dusk masks when sanding woodworking projects. Might as well get some use out of the damn things.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
Just found one last week in the pocket of my gym bag.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
I still have mine - I think they 'll make a comeback

or it will be so retro it will be cool
tobynshorty · 51-55, FNew
I have a few in my coat pockets
MellyMel22 · F
I have so many and just put them away.
@MellyMel22 I do, too ! Some I never got around to wearing, because I had a couple that fit perfectly, that I’d wash in a lingerie bag.
MellyMel22 · F
@bijouxbroussard I believe it. I have new washable ones and disposables. Hopefully we don’t need them some day. I used a few when my kids were sick the past week or so. That helped out lol
I only did disposable.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
Some I threw away. Some were repurposed for crafts.
mindstruggle · 31-35, F
I only had two and I thrown them away.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Kept them about 2 years and then threw away.
Wireman · 31-35, M
I used only one, but have no idea what's happened to it. The most useless thing I ever had.
