It's a kilt not a skirt

Sometimes I just can't deal with ignorant people. 8oz, pleats, sporran and buckles on the side = kilt

No pleats, light weight and worn by women = skirt

I have no problem discussing the difference but some people just have a narrow world view

I always thought it was called a kilt because that's what you get if you call the wrong one a skirt.

@LordShadowfire finally someone with some sense!

Either way kilts are awesome. If I could afford one I would rock it.
Harry121 · M
@SW-User second hand they are fairly cheap and last for ages! Tailor made or family tartans are way too expensive though!

It’s all ok …

To understand the differences of cultures, including clothing, food, events, etc. takes an open mind and respect for others …

But you can decide to be ok with jokes, and or ignorance …

@Soossie jokes are good when they come out of respect. This person didn't. Thanks for understanding
@Harry121

You’re most welcome..

The first thing you should be able to clearly understand is that a kilt is, in fact, a skirt. However, some people still confuse them. All kilts are basically kilts, but you'll notice that certain styles of kilts are associated with certain genders. This is why they are still called skirts

@smileylovesgaming can I see the source?
Raaii · 22-25, F
@Harry121

@Harry121 agree everybody knows a kilt has been long associated with scottish people and wearing them as part of there national costume

My wife has a beautiful full length, fully pleated kilt (Lord of the isles tartan). It would sometimes be called a kilted skirt.
I've thought about wearing one, wondering about the prevalence of "kilt lifters".
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@BrewCityBarfly It’s only happened to me once. Although been questioned many times.
malizz · 70-79, M
@BrewCityBarfly Not prevalent. Sometimes happens but not often.
I think kilts are awesome. ☺️

@bijouxbroussard thank you! Sorry just get frustrated sometimes

skirt = free-hanging part of an outer garment or undergarment extending from the waist down

kilt = a knee-length pleated skirt usually of tartan worn by men in Scotland

It's semantics
calicuz · 56-60, M
Yes, you'd be surprised to find how clueless some people are about culture............................. but it does become a skirt when worn with high heels....... I'm just sayin'!!! 🤷‍♂️
Harry121 · M
@calicuz thank god I'll never do that
Just found out i am part Irish and Scottish. Guess i need one. 😂
Harry121 · M
@Sojournersoul 100% try to get your family tartan
@Harry121 Was trying to figure that out.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T

Harry121 · M

ninalanyon · 61-69, T

GlitterEater · 36-40, F

Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
Lol if your wearing a kilt like a PROPER SCOTSMAN it tends to get a bit breezy south of border! 🤣
Harry121 · M
@Sleepysheep i hate jokes like that
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@Harry121 oh it wasn’t a joke, If try rocking a kilt free bird in Canada it gets BRISK!
