Florida just passed a law that child molesters could be sentenced to death. Do you agree or disagree and why?

They consider owning a book about a penguin with two dads to be child molestation, while they turn a blind eye to rape and explicitly made child marriage legal without the right to file for divorce, so no. This isn't about protecting children. This was the last step needed to officially start genocide on the LGBTQ+ community.

Considering they prefaced this by ruling that trans people and drag queens are a threat to children (by existing, not by actually doing anything)... yeah this isn't a good thing.

Also, by their laws two 14 year olds having sex is illegal. So... death penalty?

That law is for abuse on children 0 to 11. It can cause lifelong damage and forever alter someone who had no way to protect themself. It is an extreme punishment for an extreme crime. I think a lot of survivors of childhood molestation would agree it’s not too much.

I disagree with the death penalty due to police ineptitude and errors. When they realise they made a mistake it’s a bit difficult to fix

Child molesters act on impulse that's why this law won't prevent child abuse from happening.
There should be better ideas than just passing laws that satisfy the publics need for revenge.

The specific targets of this are not the issue. The judicial system, from cops to the electric chair, is wrong often enough to prohibit the death penalty for anyone.

Emotionally, I agree with the concept. Child molesting is life-stealing, whether the victim dies or not. But the enforcement of laws is so political, it is unsafe for all.

It’s just one more opportunity to kill someone who might actually be innocent. Been there, done that. You lock someone up and you’re wrong, because they couldn’t afford a competent defense, you can release and kind of compensate them for those stolen years. But you can’t give someone back his or her life, once that’s been taken.

I hate child molesters. Lock them up. But like I said, we’ve already executed people for various crimes—and been [b]wrong[/b]. Our system is just not efficient or equitable enough for the death penalty.

I don't believe in the death penalty for anyone. There are other means of handling criminals of all types. Not just one specific type either.

As an abused and molested child myself, the hell it puts you through is unimaginable . The damage (PTSD) lasts a lifetime. So destroying those who molest children is a suitable punishment .

Agree 1000%. When you molest a child, you have taken the life the child had and turned it into an indescribable nightmare. As a result, you have forfeited your right to live among us.

I feel if there are those who are child molesters, who cause trauma to children, it depends on what they are found guilty of.
