He's trying to delegitimize the department so he doesn't have to fund it. He thinks if he doesn't fund it, he can suppress voting through the inability to send out mail-in ballots. What he has apparently forgotten is at the US Postal Service is protected by the US Constitution.
@cycleman I'd agree with that. How this man has not been stopped or why we have no provision to stop a madman in the highest office in the land is beyond me.

@Graylight Maybe it's protected by the Constitution, but it doesn't mean that Trump's personal appointee in charge will not do everything he can to ensure it's as difficult as possible for people to mail in their votes.

@DunningKruger I have to believe that what we are seeing is just the most vocal of his followers. I have some family and friends that have always voted Republican, but they admit they cannot support Trump anymore. Trust me, it actually shocked me to hear that from a few.

What I will also say is that Trump had better be careful.
People will notice if huge numbers of mail-in ballots remain uncounted because they mysteriously failed to arrive in time. There may well be riots.
I think Congress and the President should leave the Postal Service be. That’s the reason they’re running in the red. Allow them to run it like a business.
I think it needs to be run as a business. End junk mail. End newspapers and magazines. It’s all a losing entity. Raise the cost of a letter going from Hawaii to New York while they’re at it.
@cycleman I’m sure every penny counts but in the end it doesn’t pay its way. Non-profit organizations pay only a fraction of what a first class stamp costs - that tells me it doesn’t pay its full fare.

It true that they have a small monopoly but no business would want a share of their First Class mail service. But what business would deliver a letter cross country for 55¢?
@IstillmissEP It is very fair. Trump is the one who is deliberately making it more difficult for the Postal Service to do their job. Plus to bring in one Trumps boys, Louis Dejoy, to see to the screw up.
