What is your all time favourite sci fi tv series?

aloysia · 36-40, F Best Comment
-The Twilight zone
-Stargate Sg1
-the x-files (until season eight)

my current favorite show: black mirror
SW-User
@aloysia I'd never heard of black mirror until someone on this post told me about it. I'm just about to start watching it. I'm excited as many people speak highly of it.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@aloysia Have not heard of black mirror but i will check it out. And i agree x-files got to lost
SW-User
@aloysia I have just watched the first four seasons of black mirror and i love it. It's the most exciting show. Thanks heaps for the suggestion!!

The original, black and white, "Twilight Zone" (I can still hear the original opening music score)
@SW-User Science Fiction stories and the suspense is a difficult medium to sustain after one full season. Probably why "Criminal Minds" managed to survive many more seasons. FBI stories can go on almost ad infinitum. But that's just my opinion.
@bijouxbroussard The series seems to have aged well too.
SW-User
@Grateful4you Yes it's true. It's rare for a sci fi to get to 4 seasons and beyond.
FurryFace · 61-69, M
star trek all of em , the outer limits , sg1 , Babylon V
ZashaKitty · 26-30, F
Is stranger things considered sci Fi? if so, that one.
I am not really a big sci fi fan and the tv series normally dont get my interest at all
SW-User
@ZashaKitty I loved stranger things. It comes under sci fi, horror, drama
ZashaKitty · 26-30, F
@SW-User its a good show :)
@ZashaKitty It was produced in the early 90s by David Lynch.

bhatjc · 46-50, M
@chrisCA Rock on man. Always a good show. long live the "Rangers."
SW-User
@chrisCA I am a J Michael Straczynski fan for his run on Spider-Man and remember speaking to some gentlemen here about whether I might enjoy Babylon 5 as something of a fan of TNG and sci-fi.

I will simply have to consume ALL sci-fi and see for myself. Not a bad plan if I do say so myself. 😀 Might do so in order of when everything was released. Easiest way to not leave anything out and get a sense of what is more or less coherent/retconned out the ass. 👍
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
Space Patrol.

It transitioned from radio drama to early television in the early 1950s.

"Smokin' Rockets!"
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@greenmountaingal Rockey Jones?
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Babylon five is my favorite of all time.
@Tastyfrzz it had a very emotional final episode I remember.
SW-User
TOS deserves a mention for assisting with civil rights and having massive balls to flip the bird to the establishment arbiters. Always good.

But if we are talking pure genius of creativity: Tie between TNG and new BSG for me.

With an honourable mention of TOS for its own creative merits and using clever analogs to explore philosophy and ask interesting questions. Real sci-fi is always anthropological by nature. It always explores some fear or national mood or basic human condition - and it does so through imaginative means. This is its greatness.
Star Trek TNG

X Files
@SethGreene531 Scully said this.
Whoah.

What episode is this please? this is GOLD.

Thank you.

Peace and Long life 🖖 :)
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON "The X-Files" Herrenvolk (TV Episode 1996)

You're most welcome. Peace and long life to you as well.
שלום לך ✌️☺️
@SethGreene531 Thank you so much.

Awesome.

I'm liking The Expanse pretty well. When I was a kid, I loved the 'Kirk & Spock' Star Trek.

I'm a little picky about my science fiction. To me the rules are: postulate a few advances - say faster than light travel plus transporters - and see what kind of a world you can build with that plus existing science. Most TV science fiction (including Star Trek) will introduce new 'advances' just to make particular plot points work. To me that's pure lazy writing.
SW-User
@ElwoodBlues I haven't watched the expanse yet but everyone keeps saying it's good so i must give it a try. That's a good point about sci fi's and new advances just to make plot points work. I think a lot of longer running series fall for that at some point.
Human1000 · M
The original Star Trek. It’s just so….odd. And Spock is one of the greatest TV characters of all time. And watching Shatner be…SHATNER, too.
SW-User
@Human1000 It's just...damn good...television.
SW-User
SW-User
☝️@SW-User
SW-User
@SW-User Not sure how well it's aged. It was event TV where I worked in the 90s.
SW-User
@SW-User My boss at the time loved it and would quote it all day so i had to watch it after that.
Elessar · 26-30, M
As of lately,

SW-User
@Elessar I've heard of it, i'll have to check it out, thanks!
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Don't really have one now but at various times it has been, in no particular order: Star Trek Original Series, Dr Who, Doomwatch, Babylon 5, Red Dwarf. All for different reasons of course.
SW-User
@ninalanyon All those are great, i think Star Trek was my favourite out of those.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@DearAmbellina2113 All the seasons of the x-files or just the first ones?
hatsupdudette · 26-30, F
im not tv series type of person but i watched "the mandalorian" and i think its worth the mention here.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@hatsupdudette That is a good one. Sci-fi western
This thread is five years old so I have no idea if I’m on it..
But Star Trek Discovery is right up there now.
SW-User
@TheSirfurryanimalWales Yes i'd forgotten about this thread too, but "someone 🤭" brought it back to life, which is great because i'm catching up on some new show ideas from it. I'm behind on Star Trek Discovery so i need to catch up. It's a great series,
Aussieman · 56-60, M
Falling skies
SW-User
@Aussieman Yes i really liked the 100 too. There were some moments where i was going to give up on it but over all it was great, the cast good too.
Aussieman · 56-60, M
@SW-User im currently watching another series thwfs finished and that's blindspot and also the blacklist I have heaps to watch when I get some free time
SW-User
@Aussieman I've heard of both those, i'll have to look them up. I haven't watched a sci fi since the new lost in space finished recently.
4thdimensiondream · 61-69, M
Got to be Star Trek original series. I think it’s my very favorite all time tv series.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
SW-User
@OldBrit Who was your favourite doctor? It's hard to pick just one but Tom Baker and David Tennant would be mine, although a few of the others were great too.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@SW-User now just one... Too hard

Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker are neck and neck in the first iteration.

David Tennant was super and the writing really good at that time but I do fancy Jodie Whiticker I can't lie 🤷🏼‍♂️
SW-User
@OldBrit I haven't seen episodes yet with her in it, she sounds like she does a good job though.

SW-User
@Bushmanoz Exactly, i thought i was going to have to join harry on her post but you've come through for me by resurrecting this 😃
Bushmanoz · 56-60, M
@SW-User Bloody Harry has locked all her old posts. I get a kick out of stirring her, she gives worse back. So what is your fav series? and I cant believe I posted the same pic, I was too lazy to do a new one
SW-User
@Bushmanoz Harry is good value, lol don't worry, it has been three years, i'd forgotten i'd posted it until now

@SW-User SHE IS GREAT AS *RED*.
TOO BAD I AM NOT A FAN OF THE SHOW...🤷🏻😆
SW-User
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON yes I’m not sure why I like it, the idea of watching people in prison isn’t entertaining yet there’s something loveable about the cast I think.

Best wishes

Sarah Connor [Monologue]:
Every family has rules, and we had ours. Keep your head down. Keep your eyes up. Resist the urge to be seen as important or special. Know your exits.

Has anyone been watching the new Star Trek Discovery? What do you think so far? I really like it's dark feel although Stargate Universe went down this path and lost a lot of their followers who liked things brighter and more friendlier. Still, STU was my favourite Sci Fi now i think, so I have high hopes for ST Discovery.
Honeylove · 46-50, F
Jean Luc is my favorite and the the one who's name I forget but he is in NCIS now @SW-User
SW-User
@Honeylove Ah you mean Scott Bakula, he's really cool. I liked him in Star Trek Enterprise and also in Quantum Leap. Did you ever see that show? from the 90's i think, great sci fi.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@Honeylove His name was captain archer
OMG!!!! you too?!
I LOVE SG ATLANTIS. OMG IT'S SOOOOO GREAT.

BUT FOR ME IT'S STAR TREK TNG. AND I ALSO ENJOY ST VOYAGER.
AND OF COURSE THIS ^^ 😊 AND SG-1 WAS GOOD.

OH YES: I LOVE SANCTUARY A LOT.
BRILLIANT STORYTELLING.

SO, I HAVE A FEW I LOVE.💓
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Long live TNG lighting in a bottle
SW-User
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON haha thanks for the star... i've only just seen 😊
@SW-User Sure :) !🥂✨

Twilight zone
SW-User
@iamnikki Thanks for the suggestion, I will try out an episode and see.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SW-User Start from the beginning. I think you'll like it.
Mguinm · 51-55, F
@iamnikki Good taste! My favorite. I also like the old Outer Limits.
PrivatePeeks · 26-30, F
Star Trek TOS. The music is absolutely riveting, and the stories more than make up for the cheap sets.
SW-User
@PrivatePeeks I agree, and mine at the moment would be more recent pop although i grew up with 80's and 90's and i do love that.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@PrivatePeeks Good show
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@PrivatePeeks They where ground breakers
Mguinm · 51-55, F
Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Star Trek Voyager. My dad loved Babylon V and I never got to see it but in honor of his birthday I'm going to give it a shout out.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@SW-User Yeah. just a small cameo. But hell she rocked that uniform. When jeri looked good.

SW-User
@bhatjc She made being assimilated seem like a good idea
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@SW-User oh Yeah. and she made red shirting cool ;)
CoffeeFirst · 56-60, F
Star Trek TOS. Comfort food for my mind.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@CoffeeFirst Lighting in a bottle
So, you know we have a brand new Star Trek with Sir. Patrick Stewart reprising his roLe as captain Jean-Luc Picard.
I know that O'Brien will be there too, who else, I am not sure :)

I AM SO STOKED :D🖖🏼✨
SW-User
@SW-User My TV family is Star Trek The Next Generation.
SW-User
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON If only families in real life could be half as good.
FurryFace · 61-69, M

bhatjc · 46-50, M
@Wishingwellguy That is true. Lets not forget the princess Pamela Hensley
Space 1999. In retrospect, it was really bad. But I liked it just the same, along with classic Doctor Who.

SW-User
@Cinnia Hi! Well I've had some time and I've downloaded the series of Firefly and I watched the first episode. It's taken me three goes at it because I really wasn't getting into it by the half way mark. But I have persisted and at the three quarters part I'm like... wow!! Now I'm about to watch the second episode and I think it's going to be great! So far just from one episode I really like the captain and how he deals with stuff.
