What kind of work do you do?

I’ve recently gotten a promotion at work and have had plenty of chances to dress more officy which I have been really enjoying. Today it was pretty humid outside so at first I decided not to wear nylons like I have been doing since my promotion (I just think they provide a very professional touch). After my sister took a couple of pictures it didn’t feel right so ended just putting some on. What do you do and is there a dress code at your job?

I'm the Director of Sales and Marketing.We have a casual dress code.Except for sportswear we can dress as we wish.I typically wear a skirt suit for a more formal look or shorts and a bralette for a casual look.I always leave my legs bare.I used to wear stiletto heeled sandals but always ended up taking them off.Now I go barefooted all the time.
@tallpowerhouseblonde what kind of sales
Office setting but very casual. Unless it's in person meetings we're allowed to be very casual actually. Of course, if I'm doing reception desk or meetings it's business casual.

I don't think the company I worked for had a dress code. In fact I'm not sure such a thing would be enforceable in Norway except where the company provides a uniform or where the job requires protective clothing (also of course provided by the employer). It certainly would not be allowed to require anything that seemed sexist.

Of course if you were representing the company you were expected to dress smartly but I haven't worn a suit since 1971 nor a tie since 1982 (I dressed male in those days).

I was employed for my technical capabilities not as a clotheshorse.

Finance. No dress code for the office these days, but used to be very conservative when I first started working. When I am meeting clients or attending meetings I dress for the occasion and the client (I have clients on three different continents).

Freight train driver. Shiftwork. Been a train driver doing shiftwork (with a few different entities) for about 35 years now. Hardly ever had an office job. When I was in my late teens and early 20's I did retail as a second job for a little while.

Originally, dress code was plain green uniforms in the 1990's. Could wear short sleeves and shorts if we wanted to.

Today almost all industries including rail have gone down the hi-vis route. In rail, it's hi-vis orange with reflective stripes. Must be long sleeves and long pants no short sleeves or shorts allowed.

I operate two clubs, and a large metropolitan area. I also an active investor sweat equity, with two other small businesses. Dress codes? At one of the clubs the dress code is whatever the college kids want to wear. The same goes for the staff. At the other club specialty music venue. We actually believe in a dress code, people should look nice, even festive. And then that space? I have occasionally been known to enforce the dress code for the clientele as well. Not very often, but it’s a good way. To deal with certain elements

I work in interior design so we can be kind of edgy fashion-wise, but ALWAYS expected to be stylish. I’m used to office dress codes so always wear a skirt or dress unless I’m on a site where pants are a more practical choice. I always wear nylons when in a skirt or dress.
BTW… I LOVE your shoes!!
ElviraLuvsPasta · 31-35, F
@littlebambi thank you🫶🏼

First of all, your outfit looks very professional and stylish. I work in sports retail and it's either shorts and tees or jeans when it gets colder.

@ReneeT you’re so kind thank you😊

Barmaid in a local pub. We can wear what we like really, save for black tops, but i usually opt for a black skirt and black tights - it just looks a bit more professional than jeans.
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M

I rarely wear nylons to work, really don't have the legs for it. We have a very relaxed dress code. I'm in jeans and a t shirt today

Stockings are more professional and elegant.
ElviraLuvsPasta · 31-35, F
@InstructHer I grew up seeing my mum and grandma (both teachers) wearing them to work and mass and so I kinda picked up on that even if it’s not really a thing anymore.
InstructHer · 56-60, M
@ElviraLuvsPasta they were great examples for you. I encouraged my daughter to wear them as she grew up.
MrsRachelEvans · 31-35, F
