Do you like what you do for work?

WillaKissing · 56-60
I loved my career 27 plus years in the Army, I was never meant for a factory with walls or an office. Blown up shot at 12 surgeries lost a few friends I still loved it or the camaraderie of the soldiers and would not trade it or the PTSD from it for anything in the world. Retired medically now.

I own and operate small timber farm while practicing wildlife habitat management upon it as well, and it is part of my personal PTSD therapy.

I would not trade for any other careers.

WillaKissing · 56-60
@calicuz Thank you!
itsok · 31-35, F
I like the work. I don’t like the owners
@itsok I have been in plenty of similar situations.
ShepherdBard · 31-35, M
It’s alright
calicuz · 56-60, M
@ShepherdBard

Is searching for "the one ring," getting boring?
deadgerbil · 26-30
@ShepherdBard show me the ropes
I liked night auditing at the hotels I worked at because there wasn’t much to do. 🤭
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Colonelmustardseed I always thought of that as a great job. Just thinking about when I've checked in late-late at night and interrupted the desk clerk reading a novel :)
@Heartlander Reading or watching shows was how a lot of the time was passed. 🤭 I also started bringing some weights and got my workouts done in the back office, keeping an eye on the cctv for guests.
RobinG · 41-45, M
I moved to California 7 years ago and couldn't get a full time job, so I focused on my hobby more (game dev). I was able to make a bit of money doing small side gigs, and Ive been lucky enough to now be able to get full time job doing it.

It can be hard work sometimes, and challenging, but compared to some other jobs I've done, I can really say that I do enjoy it, yeah. Not every project is fun, and not everyone I work with is great, but I'm glad that I'm able to do it, and I feel like my perseverance has paid off.
smiler2012 · 56-60
@Squirrely i am retired now but i did like my job and the people i worked with was really the management they where clueless at times😞
maskedbandit · 61-69, M
Used too, but I am now retired, but I still love working around the house and doing odd jobs for others.
HypnoChode · 46-50, M
Not really, but my job is pretty easy. I’m lucky to have it, and I appreciate that fact.
Different · 31-35, M
Different · 31-35, M
@WillaKissing i never knew ppl actually liked there jobs
WillaKissing · 56-60
@Different Some do, I think most just get used to a certain set of benefits and pay level and decided they can live with doing whatever they chose.
Different · 31-35, M
@WillaKissing i dont lol i say fuck that i just see every job as a job i thought i would find a career and see it as thst but nope i never did. For me nothing is a career i just show up to get paid and go home but thats coo some ppl can love their job's.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
I'm retired. Absolutely!!
NotMy1stRodeo · 56-60, M
I really used to .. the corporate culture is killing that. That said, I'm grateful for going nearly 40 yrs without missing a paycheck and having been able to advance in my career. Its just a paycheck now .. until I no longer need that.
maskedbandit · 61-69, M
@NotMy1stRodeo Yes indeed. 👍

They say the worst job you ever had, was the last one you left. And the best job you'll ever have. Is the next one you get.

I dont remember if that was true for me. I was in one for 20 years and the next for 21. Now I have been retired for five and a half.
Jonjdw · 51-55, M
No. Just a paycheck. I used to do auto body kind of enjoyed that. After a while, everything will become a job. I think very few people out there do something they like as a job. Once you’re doing it all the time I don’t think you’re gonna like it much anymore.
Tumbleweed · F
I do. Very much 🙂
akindheart · 61-69, F
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
I have a love/hate relationship with it
Healthcare is very rewarding but can be very frustrating
@JRVanguard I bet
@JRVanguard Yep same
I did before I retired, yup - - I drove heavy equipment in a steel mill. Lots of overtime if you wanted it.
exexec · 61-69, C
Most of the time. I managed an office with a really great staff of smart professionals.
ABCDEF7 · M
Yes.

I like the what I help to produce, but the tasks that go into it are often tedious.
ReneeT · 61-69, M
I do. It's part time which makes it even nicer
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Yeah but I wish they agreed with a higher price.
meggie · F
Yes, I love my job.
SeaGlass · F
Well, the pay's not great.... but the work is hard, so yeah, I love it 🥲

vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
NO!!

I wanna go back to s3x work so bad 😔
RobinG · 41-45, M
@TurtlePink I mean, if you're serious, what's stopping you? I'm not an advocate but it's your life!
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
@RobinG I just figured that I need to get a job just so I can build my resume. Plus that lifestyle took so much out of me and was risky. Plus there were times where I didn’t get paid for months during Covid because my regulars either moved to different states, or they just stopped seeing me and so it’s kinda hard to build new clientele in that field and to keep them. Plus I’m just too lazy to put myself out there afain
RobinG · 41-45, M
@TurtlePink I did a lot of flip-flopping when I was younger, and worked jobs I hated. There was something I did as a kid that I didn't even realise was a job (at the time) and now I get to do that so is there anything like that that you can think of?
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
I haven't had a job since 2010. Been dealing with health stuff. I'm gonna try to start making some money with my music though I think. :)
Pretzel · 61-69, M
yup. retired - had two other employers and 2.5 years later I went back to work for the company I retired from
I don't generally care, as long as my work is valued and I make enough.
@Motzu those seem like good things to focus on.
lwshm64 · 56-60, F
I like the money the job is very boring
HumanEarth · 56-60, F

Jeephikelove · 51-55, F

SophSmiles · 22-25, F

Kiesel · 56-60, M

Can’t stand the executive management
Jaego · 100+
No its soul destroying.
@Jaego then I hope it is only temporary.

Ducky · 31-35, F
Most days, yes.
calicuz · 56-60, M
Yes actually. 🙂
Not really. Work is ok rest nothing is ok.
DDonde · 31-35, M
It's okay. I like the benefits and it puts my mind to work.

tenente · 100+, M
i didn't. i had a mental collapse and quit (also got a divorce). retrained and started my own business. took 8 years to get my feet on the ground. it's stressful and cut throat but i love it
Lilnonames · F
@tenente human sacrifices👍
tenente · 100+, M
@Lilnonames soon 🙏
Lilnonames · F
Yes I do🙂
MethDozer · M
Mixed bag

I like my coworkers, I like the actual work. The owner, culture, demands, and pay leaves a lot to be desired. They been cleaning house of some good people at work and my load has gotten bigger and honestly I'm searching for something else.
