It really depends on what type of bike, if it’s a single speed probably just sliding the wheel back will help.
If it’s a 10 speed or similar could be a few things but I would check the derailleur it may need adjustments . Not really hard and if you have a little spare time, it may be a way to learn more about your bike. In case of an emergency thing maybe have someone help if your not sure.

if ou have a 10 speed or more it might be a matter of adjusting the deraileur (not sure if I spelled that right or not).
there are a bunch of youtube videos on it and it just takes a screwdriver if I remember correctly.

Mine comes off too often too. I think it's cuz the front sprocket is slightly bent. Need to straighten it see if it helps but never remember to

First thing I would check is the metal spiky circle thing. The chain moves on it. One of those spikes could be broke off

If you have the tools and know enough to take a link out, you probably have the tools you need to fix it but don’t take a link out that won’t fix it. If it’s that bad you should replace the whole chain .
I’ve been fixing my own bicycle for the last 50+ years they are not that hard to fix generally unless you have a weird bicycle that’s not bought at a regular shop. A few takes special tools but you can work around most of that. If you want or need someone else to work on your bike then take it to a good bike shop.

It’s always worth having a little tool kit if you rely on your bike a lot…
With a loose chain, it could be that you need to slide the back wheel back a little bit, as others have already said.
There are literally loads of videos on YouTube about these things, so have a look on there and you’ll soon learn exactly what to do. None of it is really that hard once you’ve seen how to do it 👍🏻

I'm assuming that you're talking about a bicycle. There could be a few reasons why this happens. I think you should take it to a shop to get it corrected. You don't want it falling off at an inopportune moment.

The chain could be stretched or worn, or something has come loose or slipped. You might need to take your bike into the shop. I am always amazed at the tools and equipment needed to fix a bike these days.

I'd definitely go to a bike mechanic. Something like isn't usually a big charge and you need to have confidence in your bike.

There are a few finicky derailleur adjustments that could cause it and/or fix it. A bike shop is your best bet.

You might be able to just pull the rear wheel back if you have the spanners
JenniferOMay · 22-25, F
@Neman1622 I don't have any but I could go get some if its easy to do
Neman1622 · 41-45, M
@JenniferOMay if there is room in the slot in the frame for the wheel to move back, that might be all you need to do to stop the problem. Or, the chain could just be too stretched out and you need a new one
JenniferOMay · 22-25, F
@Neman1622 I'm not sure, I'll have a look when I finish work.
Bjoern1997 · 26-30, M
If you want make some Pics of the chain and derailor. How many speeds you got?
Sojournersoul · M
I would just try to adjust the back wheel.

Move the wheel back a bit
swirlie · 31-35, F
If the chain is around your neck, just try tying a knot in it to shorten it so it doesn't slip over your head when you hang upside down.

The thing is this, just because I may choose to make a post about Donald Trump in an SW 'group' called "Bicycles", does not mean that bicycle chains are not associated with Donald Trump and the company he keeps.
If you want to validate your thread to be strictly about bicycle chains, then you must state in your thread what you are referring to. To do otherwise as you have done, means that I can associate anything I want to your thread without being accused of hijacking it, because as I've previously stated, your thread is about "chains"; your thread is not about bicycles!
