Why do people get upset at being blocked?

Perhaps there is more to it than I'm aware but who cares if someone that you probably having nothing in common with and would never talk to blocks you?
What am I missing?
SW-User
Only time it kinda matters if it’s someone you have some sort of connection with/care about. Otherwise, good riddance. It’s akin to self-combusting trash. Lol
Jenna76 · 41-45, F
@SW-User that i can see
SW-User
@SW-User true
WhateverWorks · 36-40
Yeah, I’m with you there. I think I’ve only used my block button a few times, but I use my mute button. At any rate, I’m not sure what the big deal is either. I’m completely indifferent to those who have blocked me 🤷🏻‍♀️
SW-User
If it's someone you don't care about definitely you won't care if they block you.

I don't either.
But if it's different, then it can be challenging both for the one that blocks or the one being blocked.
Jenna76 · 41-45, F
@SW-User yea heard that a couple times, being blocked by people you care about or are sharing with...clearly though they werent who you though they were and thats probably the part that hurts, getting fooled.
SW-User
@Jenna76 or you being the one who blocks too. For various reasons.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Throughout my life, I’ve had a very high tolerance for BS, and offensive people who most others would block. I guess it caught up with me in my older age because now I’m down to an almost zero tolerance level for anyone who bugs me.
Fluffybull · F
Totally agree. And as for the people who post about the person who has blocked them - how pathetic 😆😆😆😆
For me, it's nonsensical that people use it so casually. They'll block people over any little thing, or over nothing. There might have been good conversation. Or, if there were a misunderstanding, once someone is blocked, they've killed their opportunity to understand what the problem was. Unless someone is actually being threatened or abused, I see casual blocking as the behavior of a spoiled kid. It's just juvenile. It burns bridges rather than builds them.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhoenixPhail Well, even juveniles have to find their own way, ultimately.
@MarkPaul Yes, and I guess cutting off their sources of ideas and suggestions, is just part of that.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PhoenixPhail Well, it does circle back to your original assessment that it's nonsensical. But, we can only offer them guidance as long as they are open to hearing it. Once they choose to shut down, we have to honour their decision.
SW-User
Yeah I don't get it when it's not someone you've established a friendship with. Some people are blocked by people they know. Or at least... as much as you can know anybody online. I'm sure they have their reasons though, and making a post about it is never flattering whether you name them or not.
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
It really depends on the scenario…I guess it’s a form of rejection. Some people take that personally, some don’t.

@Jenna76 yeah…depends on the situation. In that situation I’d look at it as a positive
Gotta be ego related. It’s sort of strange to me that we’re in this space where we’re bullying others to like everyone and be all inclusive so as not to offend anyone.
Collegegirl23 · 26-30, F
I don't know why exactly but I get really upset when that happens to me it only happens rarely thu so I ain't bothered
ravenhill · M
i can't understand why people care either, because i certainly don't, for the reasons you mentioned.
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
It's a black mark on an otherwise spotless record. ❌
I’m with you who cares? And good riddance
Pretzel · 61-69, M
it only hurts for a second :)
I've never blocked anyone & I don't think anyone's ever blocked me 🤔 if they did then I haven't noticed lol.

But if anybody blocked me then that's fine 🤷 I wouldn't notice anyway 😂
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
It hurts the feelings of a certain kind of people. Don't judge them. They're fragile.
@MarkPaul Whatever, kid.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@LordShadowfire There, there. It seems like your feelings have been hurt. I hope you feel better.
@MarkPaul Ok zoomer.
TexChik · F
I have no idea, but some of the nastiest members I have blocked make posts commiserating about how I blocked them . I guess they feel entitled 🤷🏻‍♀️
SW-User
Lol yes ppl say they dont care abt being blocked but then cry abt users blocking them
Jenna76 · 41-45, F
@SW-User i'm depending on you to call me out when i start crying
situations
if it was a conversation and they abruptly leave, like a block is so easy to do.
jehova · 31-35, M
They had high hopes for the interaction/conversation thread. id think
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@jenna] personally i agree if someone blocks you big deal would not lose sleep over it
sylvsn59 · 61-69, M
How do you even know if someone blocks you?
@sylvsn59 Sometimes you'll find that you try to respond to a comment in a thread you were just in, and it says you don't have permission. Other times, you'll notice that a comment is deleted, but people are responding to it as if it's not. That's how you know somebody said something who has you blocked.

Also, if you're stalking somebody and going through their answers, you'll sometimes find that they answered a post you're not allowed to respond to or even view.
SW-User
Hurts their ego
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SW-User It's online and they're usually using an anonymous screen name... what ego?
@MarkPaul 🙄
SW-User
@MarkPaul when they aren't anonymous
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
Don't know don't care. I been through a lot to know this already
For some people it’s an ego thing. One less person to fight with.
Jenna76 · 41-45, F
@bijouxbroussard yea, like there's not enough fighting going. pretty sad
@bijouxbroussard B...but I was so close to winning!
It depends on how it's done. If it's done so you can seize the almighty last word, that pretty bad. Hit-and-run blocking is for snowflakes. Then there's the way in which you've been caught by a lie, so you use your power to delete/block to make it right. I hate that. But, yes, if you are only mad because of a block, then you're the snowflake
I actually laughed my aѕs off once. Another user had challenged me to prove that masks were effective at protecting others. I responded with a video where they proved that an uncovered sneeze can travel up to 13 feet, while a sneeze through cloth barely gets six. Instant block for sharing that.
Jenna76 · 41-45, F
@LordShadowfire yea see, i would be delighted to be blocked by an idiot like that..but thats just me
@Jenna76 It's one more person I'll never be able to persuade.

(Yeah, I know...)
Chickie · F
I admit I'm guilty of this but I usually don't care.
SW-User
Idk. I've had people talk shit about me on posts because I blocked them. It's really not that big a deal. Just means you aren't my kind of person
@SW-User I’ve definitely had that experience too, and it puzzled me. They know they don’t like me or what I have to say, so why get mad that I blocked them ? 🤔
