Why do people get upset at being blocked?

Perhaps there is more to it than I'm aware but who cares if someone that you probably having nothing in common with and would never talk to blocks you?
What am I missing?

For me, it's nonsensical that people use it so casually. They'll block people over any little thing, or over nothing. There might have been good conversation. Or, if there were a misunderstanding, once someone is blocked, they've killed their opportunity to understand what the problem was. Unless someone is actually being threatened or abused, I see casual blocking as the behavior of a spoiled kid. It's just juvenile. It burns bridges rather than builds them.

@PhoenixPhail The majority people here though are suffering from lacking basic social skills beyond juvenile development. So, it's not that surprising they resort to and rely on that kind of tactic.
@MarkPaul I agree.

@PhoenixPhail All we can do is try to support them and offer them some form of encouragement so they don't harm themselves in ways that actually count.
@MarkPaul That's the problem. Once they've blocked, there's no way to support them. They've cut off all contact.

@PhoenixPhail Well, even juveniles have to find their own way, ultimately.
@MarkPaul Yes, and I guess cutting off their sources of ideas and suggestions, is just part of that.

@PhoenixPhail Well, it does circle back to your original assessment that it's nonsensical. But, we can only offer them guidance as long as they are open to hearing it. Once they choose to shut down, we have to honour their decision.
