What’s something you’ve forgiven but haven’t forgotten?

I have forgiven my wife's cheating on me when we were dating in college, but I'll never forget.

My ex insisted that I go into Walmart to help her pick out a movie to watch even though it was raining and was on crutches dealing with brain damage and really should have been staying in the car.

Ended up breaking my hip that night and she left me a month later; the hip ended up being broken for seven months and having to be replaced.

It took me a very long time 8 years to forgive my son to become an angel in heaven, he has been gone for 23 years

You may have forgiven your Late son from 23 years ago, but you still haven't forgiven yourself yet for what you thought about the whole thing so far, right?
NeddyKelly · M
@swirlie I have accepted his death, but the death has hurt his mother very badly, we keep his photo next to her side of the bed, and on my side we have a table lamp that has always been left on for him

I totally understand that because I've experienced the same thing myself involving a girlfriend of mine who committed suicide at 29 years of age, which was just 2 years ago.

When her and I were in grade one together at 5 years of age, she very candidly told me as we rode our bicycles along a dirt road in the country, that she wouldn't live longer than her 29th birthday...

Sure enough, when she was 29 years old, I learned of her untimely passing from her mother who called me with the news that she had taken her own life.

It was only about 6 months later that I awakened in the night to witness the human form of my girlfriend standing at the foot of my bed and remained there as I sat up straight in bed with the table light off.

She was luminescent in form and spoke with a voice that I was clearly familiar with. She called me by my first name and said "Jen, I told you so!" and then she smiled at me.

I asked her how she knew when we were both 5 years old, that she would not live past 29 years of age?

She replied that she was told by a voice inside her head at 5 years of age, that she would not live to blow out the candles on her 30th birthday cake, which was actually true.... and to do all the stuff she wanted to do before her 30th birthday comes along.

Apparently, at 5 years of age, she had asked that same voice how long she would live in her lifetime?... and so they told her about the cake story.

In so many words, she explained to me that she never actually went anywhere when she passed away, but in fact lives quite happily in what she described as a "parallel universe" to that of my own, meaning that she and everyone else who has died in the past was still here beside us, but we couldn't see each other with our eyes... but we could feel each other's energy ..or could feel each other's "energetic presence" as she referred to it.

That is why if I want to talk to her she told me, that all I have to do is call her name out silently and then sit quietly and totally undistracted until she shows up ....and that within a few minutes, I would feel her presence around me... which is true because that's what I do today and it works.

Try that yourself sometime Ned and let me know what you experienced.

Jen.

@mikeskingley I'm sorry, my friend.

I forgiven as much as possible everyone that I could, because I don't want to be a bitter miserable person.
I don't forget those I can't trust because then I would get myself into some bad situations.
I can forgive people that don't know I have forgiven them and can choose to stay out of their lives.
People mistake forgiveness with having to have a relationship with somebody after you forgive, but some people just make that impossible.

Some of my actions when young.

Three people I am trying to forgive, and they were some of the closest people to me in my life.

1st is my younger narcistic Chauvinist prejudice brother. Still working on this because he is my brother. If he won't change then I need to just not associate with him and his conduct any longer and I decided that this year.

2nd is my Ex-wife for all of her betrayal and mental abuse through and post-divorce raising our kids that came to live with me when they both turned 12 (A boy and a girl, I will let that rest on its own merits about my ex). I nearly forgave her but when our son at age 21 committed suicide while in the Army like I was she went full on evil blaming me for our son's death. 😢🤬😢🤬

3rd My son for taking his own life, especially because I was the last person he visited the night, he killed himself. I can't forgive myself for not seeing his anguish that he hid from me, and for the act itself. Working on it through VA counseling though. And it seriously alienated my daughter his siter rom me initially, and we are still trying to build that relationship back.

The way my mother used to chase me all over the house and then SLAP me right across the face as hard as she possibly could when she caught me.
robbie2499 · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou This is heartbreaking and I'm so sorry you went through that.

@robbie2499 It's okay. Like I said, I REMEMBER everything, and have forgiven her. But she had to die first...🤣🤣🤣
Jalapeños. Those buggers sting.
What I've forgiven I've also forgotten. My crazy thought is a new beginning demands that.
robbie2499 · 61-69, F
@rinkydinkydoink That's the way it should be.

I know it's bad and wrong and all that but I will hold grudges and life's not long enough to forgive

You'll always remember your first heartbreak, the 1st time someone cheats on you. You loose that innocents forever that moment on - you are now damaged goods.
