Joyful is a nice name.

Yes I am. I'm happy it can't be shortened which is what my Mum wanted. Her name was shortened by friends and family as a child and she hated that. Same with my late Father so they chose names that couldn't be. My other siblings names can't be shortened either.

Not one of those things I waste energy over. It is what it is and has been for 86 years, in a few days. Actually two names, in a way: the formal and the colloquial version. Three come to think of it, because the family always used the shortened version of the formal because there already was a cousin in the family that went by the colloquial.
My youngest son is sort of in the same boat. We named him a three syllable name to go with his one syllable last name, but he always went by the shortened, first syllable until he got to college. At orientation in the dorm, the story goes, they asked the new kids to come up and indicate on the whiteboard what they preferred to be called. Most circled their first or middle, or shortened first name unless it was totally different. He, having gotten some contrarian genes from where ever, circled the middle syllable of his first name. To his wife and college buddies he has been that middle syllable ever since. So to most of the world he goes by the first syllable, officially by the full name, but to a select group, the middle syllable.

Yes I'm 150% happy with "Helen". Best female name on the planet.
The Achaians sent a thousand ships to the shores of Ilion, to get the first Helen back! Remember? 👍🏽

@helenS Bonus awesome points if you change your last name to Troy.
SinlessOnslaught · M
I'm happy with it but others don't seem to be. 😂 It's originally Italian but people laugh when they hear it because it's popular in the African-American community so they think it's a black name.
lissah · 36-40, F
Melissa? I guess it's ok
brian29715 · 51-55, M
@lissah I think it’s perfect for you.
lissah · 36-40, F
@brian29715 all my siblings had J names. Jeremiah, Joshua, and Justus. So i always thought my parents should have named me something like Jasmine. I always liked that name.
alongalone · M
Yes it was my middle birth name but legally made it first and mom's maiden my middle name long ago
FoxyGoddess · 51-55, F
I am, though I do wish my parents had chosen a different shortened version of it, but I usually go by the long version anyways.
PeasPottage · 36-40, M
Yes, I like 'Matthew'
It literally means gift of God.

Achelois · F
Yes I like my name and my middle name. 😊

YMITheWayIM · 46-50, M
Yes, it defines me at different levels and shows my versatility.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
I like it. Took a lot of flack as a kid because it rhymes with so much.

Punxi · F
I do. Full name however. Unshortened.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
It's "Hunkleberry." It was supposed to be "Huckleberry" but Mom was pretty drunk that day.
Still debating changing it. 🤷🏾
SarahAndSamantha · 51-55, T
Well, I picked it out myself, so yeah
AbbeyRhode · F
No, I hate it. It doesn't fit me at all.
I mean it's just a name, I'm not that invested in it and don't really care that much one way or the other, I've never felt a need to change it
Sounds like a soy sauce but yea lol
gregloa · 61-69, M
Are you happy with the name robot???
