What’s a small act of kindness someone did for you that you’ll never forget?

A long time ago I was young, living in San Francisco, chasing my 'dreams,' and barely had enough money to eat. And sometimes I didn't. I had a little hole of a room in a flat with strangers and it was a rough stretch.
I came home one day and there was an envelope outside my bedroom door. A roommate said an older man had knocked and asked, by my first name, if I lived there. He gave her the envelope and asked that she give it to me.
It was $100. Which might as well have been $10,000 at the time.
Never found out who did it. It just arrived.
And interestingly, things started to turn around for me very quickly after that.
I wish I knew who did it. I'd love to tell them the impact it had on me.
I will say, that I did something similar for someone once. And, as far as I know, he never found out who did it either.

Years ago I was a teacher on the union contract negotiating team, and we went on strike--very sad...I was building a new house at the time and aq bunch of teachers went to my house and painted all the siding...wonderful kindness!!
When my late husband was in his final days in the ICU, he had a nurse who vowed to care for him like she would her own brother. And kept her word right up until his last moments, when she played some of his favorite Grateful Dead songs for his “going away party.”

I shall never forget Lisa L as long as I live. ❤

@OlderSometimesWiser A beautiful story. Thanks for sharing that.
Once, i was short on money for my groceries, and the person in front handed me ten dollars to cover it.
I was so grateful, and embarasssd, but i needed every one of those essentials.

It taught me a lesson. Ive handed this on quite a few times when ive had money to spare. (This is one of the reasons l keep money in my wallet).

For 10 or 20 bucks, you can make someone's day.

@OogieBoogie That's a wonderful story. About 9 years ago, my town had a rash of "pay it forward" episodes. People were paying for the orders of the person behind them at McDonald's, for example. I heard that there were 23 consecutive "orders behind me" "pay it forwards" one day, until one nasty old woman broke the chain.

That same week, I was out shopping with one of my Alzheimer's clients, who was buying some small Christmas items at the Dollar Tree, and the young man in line behind us insisted on paying for HER order.

There are SOME times and places where the Spirit lives, and is strong.

Our house burned down when I was 7 years old, and we lost everything. A classmate's family brought me some new socks and jeans. I have never been so happy to get clothes instead of toys.
A friend offered to accompany me to receive my mother´s ashes.

It wasn´t actually a small act of kindness , it was a huge act of kindness, and every time I think of someone kind I think about her and I will always be grateful to her for being there with me at that moment.

My ex husband rubbed my feet with some mandarin orange scented lotion on my birthday. We had been out all day shopping through Quincy Market, and it was the kindest and most thoughtful thing anyone ever did for me.

A cute girl at a company I do services for for work once a month always offers me either water bottles or now as of late, offers me tea or coffee. She goes out of her way for me by finding out what tea they all have and then she makes me tea. She's really sweet.
My most recent small act of kindness and love was someone sent me a valentines card with money in it for me to have my nails done. 😍
