What’s a small act of kindness someone did for you that you’ll never forget?

A long time ago I was young, living in San Francisco, chasing my 'dreams,' and barely had enough money to eat. And sometimes I didn't. I had a little hole of a room in a flat with strangers and it was a rough stretch.
I came home one day and there was an envelope outside my bedroom door. A roommate said an older man had knocked and asked, by my first name, if I lived there. He gave her the envelope and asked that she give it to me.
It was $100. Which might as well have been $10,000 at the time.
Never found out who did it. It just arrived.
And interestingly, things started to turn around for me very quickly after that.
I wish I knew who did it. I'd love to tell them the impact it had on me.
I will say, that I did something similar for someone once. And, as far as I know, he never found out who did it either.
