It depends on how deeply it sunk for the other person and how it affected them.
Sometimes time is enough to move past it, sometimes not.

But yes, people suck. They do awful manipulative things for their own little games.

Why didn't this person come to you and ask if you'd said or done the things the slanderer accused you of? Why would they just believe the slanderer and disconnect from you? I'd be pretty annoyed at them for believing it, because they clearly think you ARE capable of doing the things you're accused of.

If this is true and they’re not willing to hear you out, then forget them. Not sure what your relationship is like with this person, but if they were really a valued friend, then it’s bad enough that they actually believed the lies said about you, presumably without at least consulting with you about it. Shows they didn’t value you that much and again, if they’re still willing to listen to your side, then they’re not worth reconnecting with.

She went around complaining about something stupid to people who then came to me
After I explained it, people understood that she mistook or misrepresented her angle
She asked yesterday to come see me
Hopefully to apologize
