How do you know when your old?

@QueenandCrown At the beginning of this century, I remember reading to a friend’s little girl, who was just two years old. Very recently I was reading to that child’s son. 🥹

@LandOfOz May you live long enough to learn that the number is not 'just a number.' Unless of course you'd rather die before that? If you're in your 60s you'll already have noticed your deterioration.

@ColorMeRoz it's ok. It's normal. I'm lucky in that i can retire. Many guys i've known have kept working for too long. I think.things will get better if i can dump.this weight. That was hard to do when sitting at a desk working on a computer.

And as for the sex part...never had much in my life anyway so not missing much. Probably why i gained weight.

Here is something else I remember. These where everywhere when I kid. Less then a dollar you could buy a pack of smokes

That's nuts and when I was kid. The Flintstones were selling Winston cigarettes. "Nothing taste like a cigarette should"

@bijouxbroussard Yes, and I have those older in my life too. I know you do too, and from them we are eternally young or needing to listen to them in their wisdom we are probably going to learn in our own way.

@thewindupbirdchronicles More and more I find myself having the experience of being the oldest person in various settings. I’m grateful to still have my father, but a large number of my friends haven’t lived to be the age I am now (64).

@bijouxbroussard I'm sure that's disconcerting, and I'm sure age comes with some kind of grace, but we are always on our own when faced with our age and finitude. I worry, though, while a long time away for me still, how will I feel when I reach the age of my father when he died?

@bijouxbroussard I remember when "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones came out. It was considered "too vulgar" by many. Some radio stations refused to play it. My friends were talking in amazement about the fact that someone wrote a song like that.

I remember joking that someday it would be elevator music.

Sure enough, years later, I walked into an elevator and it was playing, in that flute-sounding innocent Muzak style.
