Suicidal thoughts: Is it safe to talk about?

Thoughts, yes. It’s always a good idea to mark it as sensitive and mention up front what you’re going to talk about.
Also, specific plans aren’t appropriate, but you can talk about feelings and things that you think about. Anything too detail-oriented or graphic will probably get reported.
I will say though, that I don’t like to post about it publicly because it’s something that I’m very sensitive about, and people can say some very upsetting things. I mostly will just post it to my friends list if I talk about it here.
I understand not everyone had a friends list, just.. prepare yourself for some insensitivity if you can

It's a bit like Depression, everyone experiences it at some point, but many (even the so called "professionals", as I've learned from personal experience) have a habit of confusing thought with intent, mistaking situational depression with mental disorder...

Tell someone you love and trust who truly cares about you and values your existence.

I wouldn't post about it here on the forum openly.. but maybe that's just me. If you do, be aware that you open yourself up to the possibility of being trolled. It's best to talk with a "safe" friend in DM. I hope you're ok. 🌺

sure, you can talk about them. but people don't tend to care. they won't read or interact with the posts most the time.

@Selah I think itsok is right to not talk about details or plans, or to be graphic about it. I wouldn't want to trigger anyone else.

Of course. I hope you’ll realize that there are a lot of other possibilities. Also I want you to know that late night is a bad time to make any kind of decision!

It depends on who you’re talking to and whether they know the difference between thought and planning. Good luck!

Yes. Pm might be ideal and if you want to talk, I'd be happy to lend an ear. You're not alone and these times are sure rough

Allelse · 36-40, M
Always. It's the goddamn Christians fault it became such a tabbo subject. It helps to be able to talk about these feelings with each other. We all have them and we're here to support each other.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I have had intrusive thoughts about it. If I wanted to talk about it here I would post to my friends only because I have seen some people be pretty awful here.

I am sorry you’re feeling this way if you are speaking about yourself.
