@Burnley123 It actually makes sense to me; he was a bad politician but not a bad businessman. I mean, he's not Musk or Trump who'll turn anything they touch into an imminent and oftentimes laughable bankruptcy, the real problem that many people here still have a hard time figuring out is indeed that being a good businessman doesn't make you a good politician; a country isn't a business, a government's main purpose isn't generating profit.
Those were likely paid actors or employers indeed, but I remember that his cult wasn't really different than modern rightwing cults, people like those portrayed in that vid definitely existed/exist.

@Elessar I bet Trump's current legal problems and obvious corruption must remind you of him very mich. Also, still having his base defend him in any circumstance.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Burnley123 Absolutely, but on the other hand Trump seems like a toddler: no control over his own emotions, digging his own grave by leaking evidence of his own wrongdoings whenever he makes a post or release an interview. Silvio played the game for much longer than Trump and managed to dodge justice quasi-perfectly, his corporate empire is still alive and well even nowadays
Trump's the cheap remake of Berlusconi 😅

Tbh, I never understood either 😂
Well, at least not in a competitive sense,
It's still fun to watch people play video games and commentate,
It's entertaining and it feels like you chilling with them
But when people get aggressively competitive, it's like y'all need to chill

If that is a skill you value, admire or aspire to, then yes. I like watching sports because I admire the talent, physical conditioning, discipline and achievements of sports women and men. Their activities are on the whole healthy and provide a good example to the rest of us, especially children. I could not say the same of playing video games 😐

Same underlying principles so yeah. I can see why esports has really stagnated though. It's hard to be as excited for people sitting in a chair as it is for a team in football(US and international) or something like MMA

no,, it is not on the level of professional athletes little discipline, not real struggles.
any worm blooded primate with time and a console can do this
I have watched a little,, for performance tips
it IS an achievement, but not on the level of pro or Olympic athletes

I'm not sure on what basis you assert that gaming at a professional level doesn't require "real" suffering and discipline.
You say those who are good at games have a lot of free time to get good...well what do you think pro athletes are doing besides training for their sport?
They start as talented amateurs playing in their free time and then at a certain level they are able to concentrate their time and energy into playing at the top level.
So what's the difference?

@Pikachu the difference, is clear, if one have experience in Real World Effort video Skate board is not as hard as Real Skate board
games are finite,, real world has many more conditions to deal with
a more complex set of rules.
it is much easier to succeed in a vid game than on the field
like i said SUFFERING and DISCIPLINE
no one gets hurt trying to best some game level so there is not the same intensity of
I am sorry if this offends.. but I have done a lot of both and tho no vid game master. they are but analogues of the real thing

And soccer isn't as hard as MMA.
So what?
You appear to be arguing that playing video games does not require the same things as playing sports.
Lol well no shit, it's a different kind of game.
You keep repeating SUFFERING and DISCIPLINE as if that's an argument. But the fact is that to compete at a professional level in gaming there is also SUFFERING and DISCIPLINE lol.
Actual physical injuries and the discipline to practice, practice, practice.
So what's the difference?
But the point is that you're either watching people chase a ball around with skill that you could never achieve or you're watching people play a shooter game with skill that you could never achieve.

When games are taken far too seriously they become sport.
It doesn't matter what the game is.
It doesn't matter what the game is.

Yes, although just as unworthy may be more accurate.

Both get better through long hours of hard work and practice.

This is true

It falls under the category of entertainment and if that entertains you or anyone else its as worthy as you want it to be.

No. What natural skills do you need to play video games other than your thumbs
Teslin · M
@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart I don't play them but hand eye coordination, anticipation are a couple I can think of.
@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart
If there are no natural skills...why are some people naturally better at it than others?
The fact is that these games compete on a level that most people will never be able to. Same as professional sports.
It's not the same skills as run fast or throw good but undeniably there are skills both inherent and practiced, same as sports.
But actually many of the skills overlap: Obviously reaction time is important, spatial awareness and understanding of where your teammates are, strategy, balancing offense and defense, coordination and so on.
But that's not really the question, is it?
I haven't asked if playing video games is the same as playing a sport.
I've asked how watching a professional play video games is different than watching a professional play a sport.

They are both artificial conflicts whose outcome is meaningless
Looks like "No" isn't taking it laying down though. clawing back some ground with 3 votes!
So far we've got "Yes" coming off the starting line with a commanding lead!
Uh oh, "No" is stalling out at 3 votes. Looks like "Yes" just wants it more!

@LvChris I support my local rugby club, partly because of the recreational schemes they provide for hundreds of girls and boys and the pride, identity and wealth they generate for our locality. The quality of the main spectacle is often lacking, but pasdively watching the sport is not the whole picture.
