For those who believe in reincarnation, are you okay with your memory being wiped when you are supposedly reborn?

Since we know nothing of the afterlife, I accept reincarnation as one of the possibilities. I have no problem starting "Me, 2.0" with no memory from before, but I hope the grand scheme would allow carryover of at least some of the wisdom, empathy. etc. accreted to the self that is graduating...a little umami paid forward. If some sentient something is at the controls, I presume it to have the curiosity to observe progress made through successive incarnations.

I use to hate the idea of memories being wiped. But I don’t think we’re meant to remember everything. It’s okay to get nuances of who we once were tho.

I wouldn't say I believe in reincarnation more than in any other theory on the topic, but thinking of it as a possibility, I admit it does bother me a little. I don't think it should, and when my time comes, I wish to have found peace in the mystery, because whatever happens is what's supposed to happen. 🤍

I don't exactly believe in reincarnation...but I have had a very strange dream. I was underground inside a temple. I could see enormous sandstone blocks right in front of me, and there was a torch hung in a bracket in the wall, flickering. I was standing at the foot of the stairs, which led upward, to the outside.

In my mind, I KNEW I was a servant in the temple, and I was supposed to be working, but I had decided to play hookey. I was on my way OUT.

And then suddenly there came a crushing pain in my head from behind and I KNEW I had been murdered. Then it was all blackness...and I woke up.
No. I intend to live once, have one chance at being someone who friends could depend on and who would support is family. And then I’m gone, never to return.

...Better to reign in Hell, then serve in Heav’n....

John Milton 1608 –1674. Paradise Lost.

My memories will not bother me alone. They will comfort me instead.

Only those who commit great crimes should worry about their own memories. Forever is a long time to reenact them.

That is a hell, beyond hell.

The lost of memories in reincarnation is manifold. For those who commit such great crimes would be making their own hells repeatedly, if they remembered.

It does bother me. But the thing is, in my belief system, I believe we have a kind of review period between each lifetime to figure out what we've learned, and then we decide for whatever reason to wipe our memories again. So the fact that I'm here means I agreed to it for some reason.

At this point, I’d be OK with my memory being wiped today.

You stop being the you that you know when your brain quits working. But you are still the energy that you really are. Then it starts over. A dream inside a dream. Nothing to get too excited about.

I’m going to try to beat the memory wipe.

If you lose your memory, how can you say that you have been reborn?
alongalone · M
Well the idea of believing afterlife stuff is that they can make up whatever beliefs they want to fit their needs. So like for me, I'll say, well reincarnation will let me remember whatever I want as long as I was a good boy in sunday reincarnation school. So your wiped clean theory be mute, FOO !!
meggie · F
Well then if it was,how can it really be reincarnation? There would be no point.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@meggie I have a hypothesis. I think that what we call our subconscious mind is actually our superconscious, and it remembers everything, but it's difficult to get in touch with it.

Just be 1.0 past, 2.0 future!

You have to know the you, you think you are doesnt exist. Its only for this life. After you would realise it doesnt really mater.

Who says ones existence must be erased to be reincarnated. It is all just belief anyways. Believe what you want. Nothing will give proof to it anyways.

I don't believe in such things just the raising of the dead in the latter days
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
