Why do you think that god won't allow anyone with a disability of any kind to be a priest and make offerings? [Spirituality & Religion]

SatanBurger · 36-40, F
The new testament excuse makes me giggle, it's like saying "I used to torture dogs, but this year I won't, I'll make a new testament and that makes things OK because now I like them." God USED to refuse heaven to disabled people, now they're alright to him, it just suddenly changes like magic 🤣

Or the simplest answer is most likely the correct one. It is because in that time period they were just highly ignorant, sort of like when nuns wanted to beat someone for using their left hand because it was a sign of the devil. Picture someone who has an extreme disability with no one knowing what it was or what caused it.

It's most likely that the bible changed as we grew to know more because it's written by PEOPLE first and foremost 🤷‍♀️
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Speedyman That doesn't make sense, why would everything have to "mirror" Gods holiness on the outside if no one was shut out to worship?
It’s not a rejection of disabled people is the fact that in the tabernacle everything had to be [c=#BF0000]absolutely perfect on the outside[/c] to mirror the holiness of God.
@SatanBurger

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that the reason is you have no understanding and people like you don't understand how ignorant they are?

lol
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Don’t take notice of dear old Pikachi as he has no idea about anything beyond cartoon figures, But you were dealing with the people who couldn’t read and write. Therefore what they saw was very important to them and they needed to see the perfection of the tabernacle and of the temple and the worship that surrounded it. In any case you still have not answered my question that why you was an atheist are so interested in something that happened in 4000 Years ago anyway and doesn’t apply today. Surely it is far better to be talking about worship in the Christian faith which actually applies the day@SatanBurger
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
Pikachu, we all have a disability, don't believe me, well, we are all good at something and we are all bad at something. Isn't that what a disability is? To be bad at something, less fortunate? Therefore, priests you will find do have a disability.
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@Pikachu exactly, "why do I think? Why do you think? I have truly answered the question and so have you. We all have our own thoughts and beliefs but no definite answer. Because we all be wrong and we all could be somehow right too.
@Deepbreath

Sounds good, bud. Thanks for answering😉
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@Pikachu No problem :)
booboo · M
don't confuse God with religion..they're complete separate
@booboo
were put in place for us to realize we can't meet His requirements,
No...no i don't agree with that at all and i'm sure many jews would agree with me lol.

In any case, what we're discussing here are specific rules that are explicitly ordered to be followed to the letter when it comes to how to present offerings to the lord.
@Pikachu If you're a Dispensationalist, you can throw out all that crap from Leviticus and only keep the parts you like.
@LeopoldBloom

lol well we certainly see a lot of that.

The Christian churches have never been real big on inclusion.
redredred · M
Because myths generally aren't cohesive or logically consistent
@redredred

Hey bud, don't be salty. You made an assertion without really being informed and then dug your heals in when challenged.

I suggest the next time you debate theology you at least make a modicum of effort to be informed on the subject.🙂👍
redredred · M
@Pikachu I did. You missed it because your not very bright.
From what I understand, they could teach, but they could not serve in the temple. The Leviticus laws and rules are very specific, very exacting and very representative of the expectations of the Lord. Hard to live up to and fulfill. Thankfully, in the death of Christ the law has been fulfilled and they no longer apply in ways people seem to feel they do or should.
I suspect it is because of what the priests of the temple represented. He was to be without blemish. Priests were held to a higher standard than anyone else.
@nonsensiclesnail

Yeah i can see that since it was also important that all offerings must have not blemish either.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
God does allow people with disabilities to be priests.
Many believers and priests have mental illnesses.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
What’s that got to do with the fact that their friend has got character deficiencies@Entwistle
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@Speedyman Its okay you don't have to be embarrassed if you want to bypass my question with one of your own.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Not by passing your question I’m just stating facts That should be obvious even to you@Entwistle
pentacorn · F
because god invented mankind after mankind invented god, and mankind is often horribly unkind.
Carazaa · F
You have to be perfect or you die because God is Holy and perfect. Jesus makes us perfect. There is no way under heaven where we MUST be saved. The sacrifices that the priest did for the atonement of Israel was to illustrate Gods Holiness and how far we come short.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Carazaa A lot of what the bible is mentally abusive. There's no such thing as perfection, the drive towards perfection has actually caused thousands to murder people. It's just a control tactic, plain and simple. I don't have to be perfect for no one, I love myself.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Carazaa
And no other organizations do more for the hurting, alcoholic, drug addicts, homeless, the blind, the disabled that churches, and Christians!
Nope. They do it with the promise of spreading their religion, technically that's not altruism because it has a specific selfish motive behind it. When you help people, you do it because you want to. Many Christian organizations won't also accept people like LGBT communities and when I was in a very large city and happened to need a few weeks shelter, I was in a Christian homeless shelter that operated much like a cult.

I wasn't homeless at all but the stuff I witnessed there made me wonder so I did research, turns out I'm not the only one with that experience when it came down to Christian shelters.

It's because it's not altruism, it's a selfish motivation underneath it all. People can only be helped if you, yourself want to without the promise of any fortune or conversion nor heaven nor hell.
Carazaa · F
@SatanBurger
Oh Yeah? No one is perfect? Well Jesus is! You go ahead and love yourself. But you are not doing yourself a service! In Loving God, you will have a new identity. You will be a child of the most high priest, Jesus, the creator of the world. That makes me walk with confidence. Not because of anything I do, but because what Jesus has done for me. He loved me and it gives me true identity to love others. He is watching, and my life belongs to Him! And I am here to tell you this because I have the love of God in my heart for you!
JBird · F
Pedophilia and ignorance are some of kind disability, if you know what I mean. 😬
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Why are you so concerned with things that do not apply today? Why aren’t you concerned with up-to-date matters? Or are you concerned with living in the past?
Speedyman · 70-79, M
No I realise that you are making a fool of yourself every time you post. And anyone who is intelligent will know that@Pikachu
@Speedyman

self awareness is not your strong suit, is it sport?😂
Speedyman · 70-79, M
It certainly isn’t yours. You have no self awareness whatever. In fact I wonder whether you are borderline personality disorder@Pikachu
Speedyman · 70-79, M
I’m amused with this obsession you have with things that happen thousands of years ago and don’t apply today. Pity some of you haven’t got a similar obsession with the poverty in the world and putting that right rather than discussing things that don’t happen today?

@Pikachu Lmao I think you described 100% of the threads on here 🤣
Shouldn't every question deal with a given topic that any rando thinks is more important, interesting or worthy?
Speedyman · 70-79, M
As someone once said to a vicar I would go to your church but there’s too many hypocrites. Don’t worry said the vicar we’ve got room for one more@LvChris
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
Depends what you speak of instead of just "disabilities" how about you ask more details next time
Gumba1000 · M
@Pikachu It could have been to illustrate that none are fit. In those days pretty much everyone would have ticked one of those boxes.
@Gumba1000

lol well there must have been some people who were fit in aaron's clan
Gumba1000 · M
@Pikachu Must have. Or they picked the least ugly.
maxeen · 61-69, F
